I fucking hate it here
For those of you with android devices, you can use the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) standalone app control program to get rid of all the bloatware, data mining, and AI crap - no coding needed!
save
There are also Android-based alternatives like GrapheneOS and LineageOS, which are pretty easy to install. These are unfortunately available for a more limited range of devices (Graphene is ironically Pixel only, while Lineage supports more), but it's very worth checking out whether one of them might work for your phone.
GrapheneOS is a security and privacy focused mobile OS with Android app compatibility.
LineageOS Android Distribution
Typing this from Graphene now, in fact. But, both of those take the Android Open Source Project, without all the bloatware--and largely de-Google the whole thing. They give you much more control over privacy and what the apps you choose to install can do and access on your phone.
I know Graphene sandboxes everything, including the optionally installed Google Play Services which a lot of apps unfortunately require to run. (Lineage uses an alternative to Play Services instead.) So, you can install what would normally be unacceptably intrusive apps and just lock them away from pulling any funny shit with your data, or phoning home. Including the couple of Google things I do still keep around.
I also prefer running much more transparent, privacy-respecting open source apps where possible. Besides the transparency, I'd rather avoid the shitty tech corps entirely where I can. There are pretty good alternatives available for a lot of the usual suspects.
AlternativeTo lets you find apps and software for Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, Android Tablets, Web Apps, Online, Windows Tab
An alternative app store:

Also just going to leave this here.
Continuing the legacy of Vanced.
💊 Application to use ReVanced on Android . Contribute to ReVanced/revanced-manager development by creating an account on GitHub.
This lets you pretty easily patch some of the worst offender corporate apps to make them behave better.

I love how Undyne is freaking everyone else out.
The Greek government, against the Greeks' wishes, will stop anonymity for Greeks on the internet. For totally not suspicious reasons, of course. ☺️ And their history with the spying software Predator has nothing to do with it 😌

the way teenagers are treated these days is wild. when i was a teenager we were all watching porn, jerking off, and going to horror movies with 3000 gallons of blood. Nowadays they make kids get a permission slip to watch anything darker than Barney the Dinosaur. Insane.
Every year we infantilize teenagers more and more and act surprised when they grow up to be terrified, angry, emotionally stunted adults.
& then for some reason people fixate more on "ugh these teenagers just want to be treated like babies!!! teenagers are to blame for the rise in puritanism!!!!!" than how this is a very obvious example of ageism and the increased control over a socially vulnerable and exploited group
I think a commonly overlooked part of this coddling is that it teaches kids and teenagers to be afraid of things they don't need to be afraid of, which is exactly how they end up as "puriteens". I remember as a child being terrified to change the channel on the tv because I had ended up with the impression that seeing even seconds of an R rated movie or tv show would give me nightmares. And then as a tween every time I saw swearing I felt sick to my stomach because I had been taught such a thing is bad and harmful. I think I would have suffered less if I hadn't been raised with everyone around me acting like mature media was so bad. By the time I was a teenager I had figured out this was bunk, but understandably a lot of people don't. By making this whole system worse and stronger you have teens who have been told that seeing explicit or dark media Will Harm Them, and so they act in ways that would be appropriate if it really was the info-hazard it's implied to be.
^^ never heard anybody specifically talk about this but yeah. parents acting like sexual or any "dark" content in a story or show was going to put bad things in my head that were going to be there permanently just gave me a deeply distressing sort of contamination anxiety
This guy is absolutely right. How can you "reclaim" voices from a culture that's not yours?? Ancient Greek women are not from your own culture - if you even recognize that Greek culture is its own culture, separate from yours.
On top of that, those authors have no idea about the History of Greek women. We have a voice of our own and you are not trying to amplify it. You just pretend you care so you can get your fame and money.
Sometimes i really forget that some people don't know about the evolution of Greek history outside of ancient greece and it shows. Not only women were part of greek society, they contributed, always proving themselves against all odds.
Also
What about the women in Byzantine empire?
The Greek heroines of the Greek revolution?
The Greek women that were exiled or massacred in the 1900s? The Cyprus tragedy that still hurts from 1974 to this day with many losing their entire lives? How do some people can't research about a country's history beyond what's trendy?
The women that helped shape Greek history had always existed beyond ancient Greek tales. They were inspiring, reflected in the epics, recorded in history, celebrated by many locals here.
Again, people can't separate a culture's ancient tales with their heritage. It's part of the culture, it's part of their history, not to own, claim or fix to modern standards without respect but out of greed to profit.
