Amendments (Chapter 13)
Pairing: Loki/Tony Stark Rating: T (Teen) Word Count: 33,341 (total so far) Warnings: None Summary: When Tony is about to make the ultimate sacrifice, a man who is supposed to be dead saves his life. The future is unwritten and it just got complicated.

Corpses covered the war-torn ground, a grotesque mix of Chitauri and Outriders with the worst of the fallen – his friends and family. So very like the vision gifted him by Wanda, the broken, bloodied bodies of those he loved.
“This is the truth, Tony.” Beck’s voice rippled from what should have been the skeleton of a building, what was visually a blackened and damaged version of their first training site. “Don’t you see what you did? You think you’re the good guy, but everyone is going to know what you are. A traitor. A failure.”

“Please tell me you’re not about to dole out commandments.”
“Rules aren’t particularly my scene.”
That made Tony snort. He dared a few steps closer. “I have so many questions.”
“I may not be able to answer all of them. Loath as I am to admit my limits, I was a man in a chair, self-demoted to gardener.”
may I offer my contribution
He Deserves More Than This (Epilogue) (Complete)
Pairing: Astarion/Gale Rating: M (Mature) Word Count: 3877 Warnings: Major Character Death (but with happy ending!), Major Spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3 (or at least one of many possible endings) Summary: Astarion grieves his lover, and he has a bone to pick with Mystra about it.

Astarion grabbed an unlit candle and threw it at the naked man. It bounced off his arm.
“Ow,” said Gale.
“You can’t be real!”
“I assure you I am.”
“While many people think fanfiction is about inserting sex into texts (like Tolkien’s) where it doesn’t belong, Brancher sees it differently: “I was desperate to read about sex that included great friendship; I was repurposing Tolkien’s text in order to do that. It wasn’t that friendship needed to be sexualized, it was that erotica needed to be … friendship-ized.” Many fanfiction writers write about sex in conjunction with beloved texts and characters not because they think those texts are incomplete, but because they’re looking for stories where sex is profound and meaningful. This is part of what makes fan fiction different from pornography: unlike pornography, fanfic features characters we already care deeply about, and who tend to already have long-standing and complex relationships with each other. It’s a genre of sexual subjectification: the very opposite of objectification. It’s benefits with friendship.”
— Francesca Coppa, “Introduction to The Dwarf’s Tale,” The Fanfiction Reader (via francescacoppa)
Someone put it into words. I gotta sit down
(Why does this belong on my decidedly not-fan-fiction-related blog, you ask? Because this quote illustrates very well how assuming that anything where people put sex in it is debasing it, objectifying it, or simply ‘sexualizing’ it, etc. often misses a lot of the real picture of why people do that thing.)

“So how are we going to fix it?”
“You’re not,” said Loki, setting papers down. “I chose to interrupt that timeline. He has a family. I’ve no right to let whatever that was continue.”
Sylvie folded her arms. “You’re the god of mischief. You’re supposed to be egging this sort of thing on. It’s time to take what you want.”
“I’m more than that now. No, not more. Just different. Stark isn’t a plaything. I can’t simply drop myself into the story and change it for my own ends.”
“Yes, you can.”
“Don’t tempt me, Sylvie.”
“That’s what we do.”
“And is that the sort of god you want holding everything together? Because it’s not what mortals can tolerate.”

His voice is slightly muffled from where his face is pressed against the floorboards. “I’m just— Fuck. What does Peter always say?” A groan escapes his throat as Stephen struggles to follow the trail of his own thoughts. “Ahh…vibing. Yeah, I’m just vibing. I’m not drunk. I’ve never been drunk in my life.” “Sure.” There’s not an ounce of sincerity in the god of mischief’s voice. He paces closer to the prone sorcerer. “I suppose you’ll easily be able to defend yourself from an apprentice looking to spar?” Orange sparks begin to form at Loki’s fingertips. “Vibing with what, anyway? A plank of despair?”

Astarion shuddered on crossing the temple’s threshold. It was a place all were invited, so there was no struggle to enter, and yet he could feel the prickle of distaste from the gods of light. His presence was only half welcome here. Ingrates. After all I did for this city. Ensuring he kept his distance from any errant holy symbols, the vampire spawn stumbled before the towering statue of Mystra, Goddess of Magic and once lover of Gale Dekarios. There was no one else in the temple save its usual guardian, Vicar Humbletoes. Astarion didn’t think he would have cared if a legion of the Fist were here, too.
“There you are!” he announced to Mystra’s idol, his liquor-laced voice bouncing off the tabernacle walls. “Up there in the plane of the gods, so bloody pleased with yourself that your precious little toy did as he was told and saved the world. A great massive slow clap for Mystra and her exploding wizards! Fucking beautiful game, darling.”

“The Loom was a machine He Who Remains, or Kang as he has also been known, created to contain the Sacred Timeline. When his death freed the multiverse, the Loom was not designed to cope with more than one branch. We tried so hard to expand the Loom to compensate, but—”
“You had an infinite scaling problem.”
Mobius set his fork down and gave Tony a hard stare. “Are you shitting me right now?”
Tony stared back, perplexed. “Uh, did I say something wrong?”

“It’s nice to see you still have deeper wells of self-pity to drown yourself in.”
Astarion turned to the source of the dry, elderly voice.
“You little bitch, I knew you could speak Common.”
Tara strode stiffly toward him, the tressym’s paws marching steadily under the weight of a small backpack. “Of course I could. That doesn’t mean I wanted to speak to you.”

“What the hell was that back there?” Tony snapped. “What kind of sick game are you playing? Are you and Beck in this together?”
“What? What are you talking about? You saw he was using holograms.”
“Loki, you don’t let anyone do anything to you that isn’t part of your own damn design. I’ve seen you. You play Thor. You play all of us. You held my life in your hands and you gave Natasha’s back. You’ve hopped around time itself like it’s your little toy and you’re telling me you couldn’t have broken out of there before I walked into the trap? I don’t buy it.”
Loki picked himself up. The rain picked up, too. He glared at Tony, which reminded him how glad he was that he was wearing a suit of armour. “If only I were quite so capable as you imagine me. Easy to see me as the great mastermind of every plot. What reason would I have for putting your child in danger? It’s absurd you’d think I would intentionally look weak enough to let you save me.”
“Yeah, ‘cause you’d never feign helplessness before stabbing someone in the back.”
I swear trying to write smut feels like:
His hands were hands and then the fingers were in the hand and the hand was with the fingers and the fingers had the hand in the other hand then the fingers dragged to the hand with the fingers and it was hot
Snakes On The Plane (Chapter 4)

“Your last dealings with humans had you swatting us like flies. I’d hardly call that incentive to ask your advice on how to handle us.”
“I wouldn’t be here if Coulson didn’t believe my offer had merit.”
“Maybe you’re here just to keep you away from everyone else. Maybe we’re humouring you just like you’re humouring us.”
Loki simply stared at him for a few moments, long enough for the smugness Fitz was feeling to evaporate into unease. How effective were those cuffs? Was the forcefield strong enough to contain him? Or was this a display case more than a cell?

“They’re just the icing on the cake. You laid the groundwork of your own destruction by inviting Loki into your home. We have been waiting, begging, for you to slip up and show your true self, and Mysterio will show the world the truth. You would risk anyone and everything to control us all. The both of you conspired to make you into the hero you are now. Loki, the perfect monster to elevate you to an Avenger. Who’s to say Thanos was even real? Where was Loki when Earth was attacked all over again? When half the universe vanished? Convenient that you survived, all so that you could supposedly invent time travel and become our saviour. Convenient that he returns to bask alongside you in your glory. There never was a Thanos. He was an illusion you both created. We see you now.”
“You’re insane. You actually think people will buy this bullshit?”
“The truth,” Beck insisted, “and you’re going to ensure it. You’re going to hard reset that suit and wipe everything it’s recorded, because I know it has. You’re going to leave every piece of equipment in here intact and you won’t do a thing to any of us.”
Tony’s repulsors whined as they recharged, brought up to aim at Beck. “Why, pray tell?”
“Because we have a sniper on your daughter right now.”
Tony fired.
