Armando Veve is an artist and illustrator working in Philadelphia. Veve has won two gold medals from the Society of Illustrators in New York for his intricate, realistic works, which he draws by hand with graphite. Among his clients: The New Yorker, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, The New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler, Mother Jones, Wired. He was named an ADC Young Gun by The One Club for Creativity and selected to the Forbes 2018 30 under 30 list.
Lecture and reception are free and open to the public.

Recent Grad Loveis Wise Illustrates the Cover of the New Yorker
Recent graduate Loveis Wise '18 has illustrated the cover of the New Yorker for this year's fiction issue! Creating a New Yorker cover is one of the most remarkable achievements of an editorial illustration career; illustrators have been known to submit pitches for years before even receiving a reply. Loveis is joining the ranks of Barry Blitt, Christoph Niemann, and UArts alumni Laura Jean Allen '39 and Harry Bliss '90. To see her illustration, Nurture, and find out more, check out this interview with Loveis and famed New Yorker art director Françoise Mouly, who has published over 900 covers since 1993.
Lizzy O'Donnel '19, Brushing Teeth Three Illustration Students accepted into Society of Illustrators Exhibition UArts
Illustration student Loveis Wise ‘18 and recent alumni Rachael Longo '17 and Lizzy O'Donnell '17 have been accepted into the Society of Illustrators Student Exhibition, featuring the work of top level illustration students in the country! Lizzy is exhibiting five pieces and has won the Warby Parker Visionary Scholarship Award for $1,500 for her piece Brushing Teeth.

Highlighting the best work of the year by our junior students, En Route: The Junior Illustration Exhibition will be on view from April 18–May 7 in the 7th floor hallway of Anderson Hall, 333 South Broad Street.
Students and faculty collaborated to conceive, plan, curate and install the exhibition. En Route recognizes this moment of growth, reflection, and looking forward to what’s ahead for these talented artists. This year's poster was created by Julia Barnes '19.

Alum Tatyana Fazlalizadeh’s Artwork featured in Spike Lee’s New TV Series
@uarts-illustration alumna Tatyana Fazlalizadeh ‘07 is an art consultant on She’s Gotta Have It, a new Netflix Original series directed by Spike Lee based on his 1986 movie of the same name. The series follows an artist named Nola Darling as she juggles her friends, her art, and three relationships. The show heavily features Tatyana’s artwork, including Stop Telling Women to Smile, a street art project addressing gender based street harassments featuring portraits of women with captions directed to offenders, like “Women are not seeking your validation” or “My name is not baby, shorty, sexy, sweetie, honey, pretty, boo, sweetheart, ma.”
