“‘S short for Charlotte. I like Chuck though.” It was a fine enough time, and with a few friends who called her Lottie, she was quite capable of responding to near anything that she was called. Nicknames outside of a few approved, acceptable things, however, were greeted with raised eyebrows and a nervous bubble of laughter.

She has to think, when asked about the town. After all, she knows all of her states, a piece of U.S geography that she had patiently sat through along with the other students in her class.

A gentle hand reaches up, rubbing her antler and dragging her nails along one of the points. It’s become a nervous gesture, much like curling fingers into hair or fidgeting with sleeves (other actions she’s held on to for some time). New people are always anxiety inducing, and she’s left in shaking anticipation whenever something comes up like this.

“I know Washington, and uh, I know Spokane. Falling Pines doesn’t ring a bell, though. But, I’m from Minnesota, in Red Lake, the reservation. It’s up north near the border. You can kind of here it in my voice, yeah?”

SERAIAH nods. There was a sizable Native population back home, so the accent was something that she wasn’t unfamiliar with. Honestly, she felt a little relieved that she happened to run into somebody that was actually from the United States, or at the very least from a place she had heard of before. With all the fantastical creatures that she’d seen in her short time on the Island, Ser was starting to wonder if she was one of the only (relatively) normal people here.

❝ I guess I just need help figuring everything out. I’m kind of lost. I found my brother, and I have somewhere to live, but I don’t have anything else... ❞

She’s always been suspicious of unfamiliar places and situations; she even threw a bit of a fit when her favorite diner took off an item on their menu, so she was barely managing to handle all the weird sights and sounds and smells of what was apparently her new home. Honestly, she kind of wanted to cry, but that wasn’t going to solve anything anytime soon.

❝ Maybe I could use a tour or something? I mean, you don’t have to if you’re busy... I’m just a bit overwhelmed. ❞

As for headcanons i haven’t told you yet… >:3c

I like to think Wrath tries make breakfast for both of them, but most mornings he’s passed out so he just compensates with buying a lot of microwavable dinners that Ser likes. Wrath complains a lot about how gross the frozen food is but he knows she likes it so he keeps buying anyway.

Wrath takes a lot of inspiration from his interactions with ser when he’s trying to convey camaraderie in his songs. There’s a lot of vague references to their shenanigans in Naked Brides’ later albums.

Before Ser’s birthday Wrath usually takes her to the laundromat where she usually naps as they get their clothes washed. Once ser’s knocked out he walks a block down to the thrift store to see what creepy clown doll he can snag for her. Sometimes he’ll even stop by the dollar store for a balloon. Thank god no one has stolen their laundry.

Oh, okay.

That makes sense, when she considers it. Nevertheless, the abruptness holds her on edge, and Chuck has to take a moment to settle her shaking nerves to a state of calm. Shoulders slumping forward, she adjusts the wrapped lillies, gaze pouring over the flowers. She’s seen these before in the store, with their speckled centers and a label about keeping them away from cats. Considering they had never had one, it had been nothing more than a label for reading amusement.

Chuck offers a smile, closed mouth and keeping her teeth hidden from view. The fact that she painted her claws a bright red makes them seem a little less harsh. “They’re nice. I, I uh- I didn’t want to be rude. I was just kind of confused, you know?” The bundle of confused near panic had set her off guard a bit longer than expected. The comment about her being pretty does more, and Chuck turns an odd shade of pink.

“M-Me? Thank you. I um, uh, I- I’m Chuck. Nice to meet you?”

❝ CHUCK? That’s a cool name. ❞

Seemingly pleased with her reaction, Seraiah examined her a little more closely out of curiosity. Though she was familiar with cryptids, she’d never seen somebody in this middle phase between human and monster. Back home, cryptids were forgotten souls; people who had died tragic deaths that now roamed the woods in new, nightmarish forms. It fascinated her, but Seraiah also couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for Chuck. She quietly wondered what had happened to her to render her in such a state. 

Probably impolite to ask her about that directly, though. 

She decided to switch the topic. Chuck’s appearance wasn’t the subject at hand here. Despite how socially inept Ser could be at times, she knew that asking about looks wasn’t the best way to make friends with people.

❝ So, where are you from, Chuck? I’m from Washington... The state, not D.C. Ever heard of Falling Pines? It’s like ten miles away from Spokane. ❞

( Now that she thought about it, Ser really missed home. )

      OUCH– alright, fair enough, but it still stung a little to hear. he just hadn’t found the time this morning to put a brush through his hair, it happens all the time, right? okay, maybe it was a little unkempt, but with the humidity creeping into the days of late, he couldn’t do a thing with it, really. it may also have something to do with the exhaustion harrowing his gaze beyond the prosthesis, deadened by a severe lack of sleep and the stress of being hauled off to some extradimensional city weighing on his mind– but that wasn’t as important.

         “  thanks– i woke up like this.  ” he raised a hand, gesturing to his eyes, “  the bags are gucci, by the way.  ”

OOPS. Was that rude? It seemed like the strange new island hadn’t affected Ser’s awkwardness in the slightest. She sort of fumbled with her words for a bit, trying to recover from that remark.

❝ Sorry. I-- Um, was that mean? You just seemed. Tired. You’re not bad-looking or anything, I just... ❞

She bit her tongue a little, fully prepared to mentally beat herself up before realizing that the stranger probably didn’t want to witness her just standing there awkwardly for five minutes. (Okay. Deep breaths. You didn’t mean to be impolite. Try again. You’re trying to get to know people here.) Taking a deep breath, Seraiah started over with her response.

❝ I, uh... You haven’t been getting a lot of sleep, have you? Me neither. I mean, it’s hard for me to sleep too. This place is really weird; I just showed up here the other day... I’m Ser. I like your mask. It’s cool. ❞

‘this isn’t even close to the worst thing i’ve done.’

WHILE exploring the unfamiliar surroundings of the Archimedes ward, Seraiah spotted an unusual silhouette in one of the many narrow alleyways, seemingly doing some target practice with a strange-looking weapon in-hand. What was odd was that the wall had been splattered with bright paint (or ink?). 

That was. Probably not allowed here. Would this count as graffiti? Seraiah wasn’t a nark by any means, but they didn’t want the tentacle-haired person in front of them to get in trouble with whatever forces kidnapped them and plopped them here. 

❝ Oh. Well. Um. You should... probably clean that up. ❞

She’s not sure what to do at first. This is one of those unusual things, one of those ‘I don’t have a plan’ things. So, she just stands and stares, slumped over a bit to hide some of her obscene height. It helps, at least, losing a few inches and putting a more reasonable distance between the two of them. 

“Are these for me?” Chuck’s voice is a small thing, her delivery shaky at best. The poor thing genuinely doesn’t seem to know what to do with herself. “I uh. Erm, I- thank you? Yes. Thank you.” 

Despite having to walk her way through the statement, it turns out better than expected, Chuck taking the bundle into her clawed hands. 

“I feel like I should probably ask why?”

Seraiah smiles up at Chuck, standing a little bit on their tippy-toes to further close the gap between their wildly contrasting heights. Though strangers usually rendered them mute, Ser found it unusually easy to talk to the impressively tall woman in front of them.

She reminded her of her “family” in the woods back home: a towering but gentle presence, and in this strange new world, Ser was eager to make friends with anybody who seemed trustworthy. Naturally, the easiest way to do that (in Seraiah’s opinion) was to present them with a gift, and she had spotted the nicest bouquet of lilies at a nearby floral shop. It just seemed polite.

❝ I thought you might like these, and… I’m new around here, so I’m trying to meet some people. Also, you’re really pretty. I’m Seraiah, by the way! Sorry if I caught you off guard. ❞

Mizi is usually the one that wants to be protected or needs protecting in a place like this, but concerning Ser, he’d be the one looking out for her. Like hello, he really wished when he was a young teenager that he had a friend looking out for him in public spaces. There is a lot of empathy going on there.

They can just sit together and hang out in silence. Sometimes Mizi prefers to do that. A constant stream of conversation is hard for him to do most days anyway.

Mizi protecc, doesn’t attac, but most importantly he has Ser’s back.

Her voice hushed, Seraiah fidgets with the edge of her turtleneck, thinking back to her friends in the woods. Despite their monstrous appearances, they were probably the nicest individuals she’s ever encountered. Though there were good people back in Falling Pines, she couldn’t trust many of them as much as she could trust her cryptid family; humans just tended to be pretty on the outside and not on the inside.

❝ ...A lot of people are scared of my family, but they’re really sweet. I don’t know why people care so much about looks. ❞

✿ Though initially a bit intimidated by Rosa, Seraiah would probably be one of the few people to stick around despite her prickliness. She reminds her of her older brother in this regard; short-tempered but ultimately not malicious. However, she’d probably get a bit spooked if she were to ever snap at Seraiah or somebody else. (She can tell that Rosa is good at heart. She’s encountered enough bad people in her life to know.)

✿ Ser thinks her abilities are super cool and would ask for her to show them off for her; if she refused, Seraiah would gently pester her about it until she obliged.

✿ Being the animal lover she is, Seraiah would be completely enamored by Rosa’s Pokemon and attempt to fatten them up with treats. She is especially fond of her Arcanine and loves the texture of his fur.

✿ Both Rosa and Seraiah are up late at night, so it wouldn’t be unusual for Ser to bump into her during a midnight walk. Ser would probably insist going on late-night snack runs; if not, the two would just sit together on the beach and watch the waves crash into the shoreline.

✿ Ser has had her experience with big monsters and doesn’t find Godzilla very intimidating (maybe to his chagrin)! She’d be very eager to become friends with him. He’s friend-shaped. Seraiah would probably spend lots of time talking about the cryptids she knows back home and asking him various questions about his abilities and where he comes from. They’d also trail off into talking about their various interests.

✿ With their permission, Seraiah would stim with Godzilla’s scales, brushing a hand against maybe an arm or something in order to calm herself down and feel at ease. 

✿ Ser would definitely share lots of snacks with Goji and bring little gifts, like gas station plushies or flowers she’s found. They might also sing a little song or two for him.

✿ She doesn’t seem to mind Goji’s grumpiness; she’s lived with a pretty grumpy older brother for most of her life so she’s used to people (or kaiju) that are rough on the outside and squishy on the inside.

Godzilla would definitely find in convenient that Seraiah would be able to understand him, even commend her for it. And them promptly tell he to go bug some other radioactive monster since he’s not in the damn mood to babysit

-spoiler he babysits anyways.

Would most likely offer a grim, bleak outlook on a few situations involving some of his own experiences, as I’d imagine she’d had a LOT of questions for the big guy. But, in his own weird abrasiveness way show SOME kind of affection. Defiantly a top tier human in his book.

Mordecai was in some weird form of shock. He couldn’t understand his new surroundings at all. He wanted to simply dismiss Spirale as a very odd dream inspired by a Star Wars: Return of the Jedi rerun, but the acute sense of dread he felt told him otherwise. Nothing was at all familiar, and the fact he shuttled in with what appeared to be a dinosaur made it all the more surreal. 

Without much guidance, he promptly made his way to the ward he was assigned hoping to find some answers waiting there for him. The knot in his stomach tightened with more and more people passing him by. The realization hit him that he was in a vulnerable position, all on his own. He shot his head back, anxious to see if he was being targetted. With no one seeming to pay attention to him, he broke into a light sprint. This place wasn’t safe. He needed to be alone. Thoughts of paranoia began to flood into his mind, distracting him and before he knew it he bumped into someone causing them to fall flat on their ass.

“Hey! What’s your problem?!” He yelled the poor unsuspecting man. That probably wasn’t the best idea; now all eyes on the narrow street were on him. His eyes darted away from the man, searching the crowd of unfamiliar faces until he saw…

SERAIAH, who had been pushing through crowds and wandering aimlessly about was starting to feel a little nauseous. She would’ve asked for directions, but the unfamiliar surroundings and people (wait, was that a robot she just saw walking past?) had caused her throat to close up, rendering her nonverbal for the time being. Managing to barely suppress a meltdown, they pushed on until they heard yelling from not too far away. Familiar yelling.

Shoving through the throng of people that had gathered on the street, their eyes widened when they spotted a silhouette their recognized. Long curly hair, old punk clothes, and a voice that could be heard from a mile away. Definitely their brother. Ser silently thanked the invisible forces that had brought them there, which seemed to be merciful enough to bring one of the people she trusted most with her.

Running over hurriedly, Ser clung onto Mordecai almost immediately, letting out a little choked noise (a “hh”, or something similar). They raised up their hands to sign something, tears starting to pool in their big brown eyes.
