This recognition couldn’t be more deserving. Through his unwavering dedication to advancing Parkinson’s research and advocacy, Michael has inspired hope for millions of individuals and families around the world while changing countless lives for the better.

He’ll be honored at the 78th Emmy Awards on September 14, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this incredible recognition.

(June 20, 1931 – March 26, 2026) was an American actor

An immediately recognizable if not always identifiable character actor for over a half-century Tolkan, perhaps best known for his roles in Back to the Future and Top Gun,

In 1985, Tolkan landed the role of the strict Hill Valley High School vice principal Gerald Strickland in the beloved time travel film, Back to the Future. He later reprised his role in the 1988 sequel, and portrayed his character’s grandfather, Chief Marshal James Strickland, in Back to the Future Part III.

He later landed roles in films such as WarGames, Top Gun, Prince of the City and Love and Death. His final onscreen role came in 2015’s Bone Tomahawk.
