Given that the Love Square (TM) is already resolved in the Kwami Swap AU, does that mean Kamagi and Luka's contribution to the romantic mess is completely ruled out? I also wonder if this completely prevents Prime Queen's akuma or if it would give it a different motivation.

Yeah, Kagami and Luka aren't really an issue romantically speaking in this story.

There is a small period where Adrien keeps his relationship with marinette a secret from his dad because he's(completely fairly) worried his dad will dissaprove and interfere. This culminates in his dad and Madam Tsurugi trying to set Kagami and him up. Which, to his credit, causes Adrien to immediatly come clean to Kagami about his relationship with Marinette.

They don't immediatly tell their parents, and Kagami basically uses Adrien as a screen to keep her mom off her back for a bit. But it really is only for like, a few months at most?

This does lead to like, a really funny series of dates between Adrien and Marinette where Kagami is just... there. Quietly hanging out. Which you think would be a massive vibe killer, but Chloe has crashed like, half of their dates before, and Kagami is a hell of a lot less of a problem than Chloe.

The fake relationship ironically is how Kagami integrates into the friend group, and she ultimately considers the "relationship" a net win, because she gets a lot of friends out of the whole thing. Kagami really finds that she likes just, vibing around people with a lot higher energy than her, so you'll often see Kagami just, casually around more high energy people quietly sipping her juice. Chloe and Sabrina, Adrien and Marinette, Alix and kim and their little group, Julleka and Rose, etc.

Kagami is like, the designated third wheel, and is really, really fucking good at it. Basically, by the time the class as a whole is on good terms with Kagami, they're all more or less very used to her just... showing up on other peoples dates. And it is universally agreed that this improves the quality of dates or even just casual hangouts quite a bit.

So....yeah. That's the Kagami shenanigans, Kagami is There TM, and that is just that. I do have ideas for actual pairings for Kagami, but I'm still deciding on that.

I will say that Kagami and Adrien drop the dating shenanigans the moment that Kagami has a partner, because the big thing about the fake relationship was to stop Madam Tsurugi just... matching her with successively dumber people.

So, you do get some of the mandatory relationship weirdness in Miraculous.

As for Luka, he never has any kind of relationship stuff with Marinette. He meets them after they started dating, or very close to it, and immediatly tells them that he "adores their duet" and absolutely would not ever do anything to break that up. If anything, Luka is a heavy Adrienette shipper. This is his favorite song. The longer these two play together, the better each individual song of their souls gets, and when together, they make something breathtaking.

Translated: They are making each other better, and he finds their relationship extremely cute and healthy and he will be fighting anyone who messes with it. Luka would absolutely throw proverbial hands with Lila. He's mostly a pascifist, but Lila can try him to see how far that goes if she touches Adriens arm one more time.

So, Luka is just a very supportive friend. He likes the duo, and he likes having them around. But there's no romance anywhere in there.

As for Prime Queen, this probably will still happen, but for different reasons.

I think I've mentioned before that Lady Noir does not like talking to the media? Well, she doesn't like it when Mr. Bug does it, either. Mainly, because she sees it as an unnecessary security risk. Mr. Bug doing a televised, pre-planned interview is crazy dangerous, because hawkmoth will know where they Ladybug Miraculous will be. She's actively thwarted and denied basically any interview with any news station, and has only done very, very brief interviews on the spot of an akuma. And that's generally only at Adriens insistence, or when Lady Noir needs to stall so Mr. Bug can comfort the Akumatized victim(they take turns).

Nadja Chammack gets fed up with the constant run around and, under extreme pressure from her producer to get SOMETHING, gets akumatized.

They basically distract Nadja by revealing that they're dating(not a trick) to get her akumatized object. As a solution to this later on, Adrien officially declares Alya the only reporter they'll give interviews too. Despite Alya being not super pro the heroes, which is actually why Adrien chooses her. She's very, very neutral, and dedicated to publishing only the exact truth of what she experiences and discovers. She might not fully approve of them, but you better believe she will report honestly and without bias, on anything they tell her.

And yeah, that's about it for this! Had a bit more detail than I thought I would, honestly.

I wanted to expand more about Maricat and Adribug, see I recently found this video of S5 cuts, and while it's of Marinette Critical variety, it clearly shows that girl was down BAD.

If we look past how bad the show is, will Lady Noire in your AU be very affectionate with Mister Noire? (No way she doesn't call him that to make him even more red) Maybe just like in one comic Marinette pisses Plagg off, so he turns her into a cat, and when her Bug-a-boy comes, he sees her state and immediately begins to pet the heck out of her. She's not purring, she's vibrating into the 4th dimension. It's so good, that next day when she's in her normal, transformed human form, she despite her embarrassment comes to him and asks for more.

Of course he says ues and from then on Lady Noire is all over him, purring, rubbing, scenting him and he is no better, scratching her ears, her chin, caressing her back, even playfully slapping her as some cats like. It's not slaps as much as its squishing that cat, and she's pushing back into his touch.

One day a thought hits her, turned off during petting, brain.

' Isn't it dehumanising that I like being treated like an animal?' She thinks.

"Belly rubs?" He asks and the thought is gone as fast as it came.

"BELLY RUBS!!"

To answer both questions: yes, and yes!

How Maricat starts off in this AU is a little different than cannon cat noir, or cannon marinette in how they got to their "heavily in love" stage.

So, for the first two-three months of their time as heroes, Mister Bug holds out against Lady Noir's insistance to share identities. With a really bad akuma that almost kills them specifically do to a lack of identity knowledge being what ultimately forces their hands.

Now, that whole thing is for another time, but what we get from that is a several month window of Maricat treating Adrien and Mister Bug as two different people.

Marienette in this AU initially does not get over the idea that Adrien is a jerk like Chloe until *after* the reveal(she does decide he's not as bad, slowly, so she'd have gotten their eventually, the reveal just speeds things up). Meanwhile, she is insanely protective of Mister Bug and about the first week, is incredibly professional about it. Or at least, good at pretending to be. That cover basically cracks the first time she sees her charge and leader blush when she catches him in her arms and hauls him away in a pirncess carry.

The Moment! she sees that, it triggers Lady_Noir_Flirt_Master.exe and she basically becomes as bad as cannon Cat Noir, but with Marinette's intensity. So like, where with Cat Noir it was just flirting and the occassional rose or candle lit table on top of a building, Lady Noir is like, a romance machine. She's not just begginer level flirting, she is AFTER her bug. Because Lady Noir is confident as hell, and lacks a lot of regular Marinette's hang ups and reservations. Plagg shockingly approves of this, solely because if they can get Bugaboy to fall in love with her, he'll be more likely to give up his identity and thus make him easier to keep around and protect. Which let's Plagg protect his Tikki like he wants.

Examples of Lady Noir and Cat Noir differences:

Cat Noir flirts and brings flowers. Compliments her and does stupid puns about his love.

Lady Noir memorizes nearly every single thing she can about what Mister Bug likes and dislikes, and uses those in every romantic overture.

She notices how he leans in when she picks him up to run, how his hand lingers whenever she grabs his to yank him up or away from things. How he always finds a way to invade her personal space.

She correctly deduces that this isn't actually him being inherently interested in her specifically, but instead that her bug is hella touch starved. So Lady Noir gladly fills that void, constantly ruffling his hair, wrapping her tail around him, keeping an arm over his shoulder, etc. If they're sitting, one of them is flopped over the other. She also encourages him to pet her hair a lot.(I love the cat transformtion idea as an initial excuse, and you better believe she aboslutely uses that to get more "pets" from her bug. I'm 90% sure plagg knew this would happen, and was secretly doing her a solid, disguised as a prank).

Mister Bug mentions his favorite flavor of a thing? Lady Noir starts carrying flavored candies, pastries, and the like immediatly and at all times to give him whenever he starts to feel down(so, passion fruit EVERYTHING).

Bug mentions he likes a show or book? Lady Noir watches it or reads it, so she can keep up when he talks about it. She doesn't lie about whether she likes it or not, she'll flat up admit if she thought it was meh, or even bad. But she watches it anyways, because she wants to know about the things he likes. She will flat up tell him that she watched it or read it because she knows he enjoys it. This leads to Adrien wanting to do the same for her, because if his good friend (I swear this period doesn't last too long! Good friend to girlfriend is QUICK!) is learning about what he loves, then he wants to learn about what she loves, too.

By the time she realizes Adrien is Mister Bug, she's basically romanced the poor guy into insanity. Like, girl serenades him with his favorite songs, sprawls out on his lap like a cat the moment he sits down, the works. And since Adrien actually likes and needs physical affection, he is absolutely not gonna complain about his pretty, leatherclad partner doing that.

Marinette is more directly restrained with how much she touches adrien in public, but that just means that he gets needy and flops on her instead. Which even Chloe has to admit is cute.

As for fun shenanigans: yes, yes there will be plenty of those. for instance: Marinette makes biscuits instinctually after awhile. She also keeps scraps of trash fabric with her at all times to tear apart with her bare hands to calm her nervous energy. This gets written off as ADHD fidgeting, because honestly, the girl probably has that anyways. I say this as a hold of the ADHD miraculous myself, she's got the stuff as far as I'm concerned.

I wrote... way too much on this. But I really love the relationship stuff in this fic. My goal is to take a lot of the stuff that causes problems for them in cannon, and turn it into strengths. Cannon marinette is obsessive over a near stranger in a kinda creepy way for very scant reasons. Lady Noir, however, is already Mister Bugs dedicated protector when she realizes she's got feelings for him, and a lot of her stuff really does start as teasing. Her memorization of most of his stuff is so she can be a better partner and better protect him/make him feel comfortable with her. She also doesn't hide that she does it, why she does it, or how she does it. She is very up front that she sees it as part of her job, and Adrien just kind of... not used to people anyways, and honestly, it's nice to have someone who actually cares.

Is it still a little creepy/too forward? yeah, of course. That's why it's funny. But it's also a damn sight healthier than cannon, and basically explicitly consented too.

We'll see me do stuff like this with some of Adriens character flaws later on, I just enjoy highlighting this one.

No wonder cat noir abilities are so limited. "The only limits are those you give yourself." Cat noir has been consistently shown to be scared of hurting others due to his cataclysm because HE KNOWS he's perfectly capable of doing so, he's actively holding himself back because he's scared of what might happen if he loses control of himself.

That may have been just the wind.

I saw this and felt the need to say that I imagine Marinette in my Lady Noire and Mr. Bug AU is very much out doing cannon Adrien for the frequency of "just vaporize everything that moves" moments.

This little bundle of chaos has never felt like she can ever actually act against anyone or anything that messes with her life as Marinette, she's powerless and pretty passive as a civilian. At least, pre-show Marinette certainly seems that way. So in this AU, as I've kind of gone over a bit before, Lady Noire becomes the space where she lets out all that frustration and all that powerlessness.

The first time she fought an Akuma she wasn't sure she could hurt somebody, until Plagg told her to imagine that it was Chloe. At which point Marinette dropped all attempts at defending herself, charged the Akuma, and delivered a crushing uppercut to their jaw. It actually took effort to convince her to NOT use Cataclysm with that punch.

Later on, as she and Chloe become "totally not friends" she just imagines Gabriel.

Ironically, letting loose as Lady Noire leads to a much calmer and harder to ruffle Marinette in real life. She needed an outlet for her frustration that her role as Mr. Bugs protector and weapon provides, and it helps her clear out the mess in her brain into something more geared towards staying calm and making more measured choices.

She saves the rambles, rants, and convoluted plans (mostly for vengeance, real and silly) as well as her anger and frustration, for Lady Noire. This lets Marinette better process stuff and in general helps improve both her attitude and the way she deals with crisis. Instinct and panicked action are for the battlefield where seconds matter, in her real life, she's started to appreciate the luxury of having time to think things through, consult her friends, and handle stuff at a slower, easier pace.

This leaves Marinette as most classmates know her being an excited and passionate designer who really cares about her friends, but whose got feathers that are hard to ruffle and who stays pretty calm no matter the crisis or issue. Meanwhile, Lady Noire is a flirting, sometimes stuttering(not often) mess that alternates between shockingly competent and borderline suave, to panicking and awkward, depending on the moment. Lady noire also responds to stuff that bothers her in general with threats of violence or just, actual violence. She's not got a hair trigger, but she's also not exactly slow to throw something out there. Especially if Mr. Bug is being harassed or bothered in some way.
