Seeing some statements from the press conference, it’s funny to hear Kohei admit today was the first time he ever felt nervous about possibly losing an AA final. Meanwhile Oleg is very proud that he came as close as he did to the king.

“I knew it was up to the final high bar. I was finally able to do my best on the high bar and even if I were to lose, I had no regrets. I’m exhausted. I gave everything. I gave out so much that I can’t do anything more. I’m not happy, I’m in bliss. I’m the luckiest man on earth.” –Kohei Uchimura, after the 2016 Olympic AA Final
OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS
“By winning the Olympic team gold, I’m hoping that people will know our names and that gymnastics will become popular. May I introduce each of my teammates? As you saw this time, Ryohei is mentally tough and never ever makes a mistake. Kenzo is known as Mr. Twist and he just twists and twists. Yusuke has the most precise and beautiful routines of all of us. Yamamuro is good at lifting our spirits. He can encourage me with a single word.” –Kohei Uchimura
I just finished watching the men’s team final not that long ago (thank goodness for full replays) and I just had to gif this exchange between Danell and Kohei after Japan won gold. c:
Olympic Champion!!!

Yusuke Tanaka, PB - 15.900 OMG!!!
Some people are talking that Oleg victory in final is a certainty. But for real, have they ever seen Kohei in a final? It will be an equal match and gymnastics have a lot of surprises (we all know that)! + (I believe in Kohei, he isn’t considered a “King” for no reasons) #teamjapan
He qualified rank 8 in London 2012 but he became the Olympic champion in the final.

"He is an inspiration to everyone. I mean if I saw him, I don’t think I’ve ever met him but I would literally like bow down to him. He’s a legend, he’s awesome." ~Aly Raisman (on Kohei Uchimura)
