Moeritherium lyonsi

Moeritherium ("Lake Moeris' beast") is an extinct genus of basal proboscideans from the Eocene of North and West Africa. The first specimen was discovered in strata from the Fayum fossil deposits of Egypt. It was named in 1901 by Charles William Andrews, who suggested that it was an early proboscidean, perhaps ancestral to mastodons, although subsequent workers considered it everything from a relative of manatees to a close relative of both clades' common ancestor. Currently, Moeritherium is seen as a proboscidean that, while fairly basal, diverged before the split between elephantiforms and deinotheres. Seven species have been named, though five (M. andrewsi, M. chehbeurameuri, M. gracile, M. lyonsi, and M. trigodon) are currently considered valid. The name comes from Lake Moeris, and the Ancient Greek θηρίον (thēríon), meaning "beast"… (Wikipedia)

at work I do a bad job of hiding or even tempering my hatred of bambu labs. Today I brought in a Neptune 4 Pro for us to use and really talked up its benefits over the Ender 3 I put in there before.

One guy piped up something like "I really like Bambu printers because when I used them at my last job they had this thing where you can go to their website, click on a file, then it goes straight to the program where you can adjust the settings and you can just print it right there!"

and I was like, Girl they literally all do that. Every brand of printer does that. THIS printer does that.

#The Neptune 4 has Klipper as stock firmware so you can just. pull up the web gui. no prob #but prusaslicer (and i am pretty sure every other modern slicer in the world) lets you add the klipper interface straight into the software #all it needs is the IP which is extremely easy to find.#so you can open Prusaslicer. go to the Printables tab. Find something cool. Hit 'slice.' then hit 'send to printer.' and then monitor #monitor the print. and all this without ever leaving the slicer software.#and again. the Klipper firmware is what makes this possible and this is all almost a decade old at this point.#you Do Not need bambu for this oh my fucking god
