Things that take time & many tries to get right:
learning to be a good friend/partner
healing from depression, failures or heartbreak
becoming amazing at an art or skill
overcoming anxiety, insecurities and low body image
overcoming the need to isolate yourself
changing self-hating thoughts to kinder ones
making a real connection with someone
overcoming self-defeating and self-sabotaging thoughts
learning how to study effectively
finding a sense of stability and calmness at your core
quitting habits or addictions
leaving people and behaviours that turn you into the worst version of yourself
getting used to healthier coping mechanisms & mindsets that feel fake
treating yourself like you truly care about yourself
becoming the person you always wanted to be
i learned that in the 1880s, the Harvard Observatory director was frustrated with his staff, and would say “My Scottish maid could do better!” So, he hired his Scottish maid. Williamina Fleming ran a team for decades, classified tens of thousands of stars, & discovered white dwarfs and the Horsehead Nebula (x)
“She became one of the founding members of the Harvard Computers, an all-women cadre of human computers hired by Pickering to compute mathematical classifications and edit the observatory’s publications.
The group included Harvard computer and astronomer Henrietta Swan Leavitt, Annie Jump Cannon, Williamina Fleming, and Antonia Maury.”

A shrink prescribed me adhd meds today and i feel like my entire life has been a lie
‘do you ever feel lonely?’
put that in a PSA and mask use would shoot up 1000%

The memories
so 2020 really is the year my lifelong neurotic mantra changes from ´i hate myself´ ´i wanna kms´ ´i wanna go home´ to ´i am so fucking happy´ and it´s been the most chaotic year i´ve experienced in 23 years
lmao i made academic achievement such a big thing at 17 that i never understood the universe has been trying to tell me for 5 years that i shouldn’t put all my self worth in a fraudulent institution...it took so longg like i don’t want to live my life slaving away for way too little cash for stuff i don’t care about!!
spending a lot of time in the kitchen, baking bread with herbs, reading old kitchen book and trying new recipe, growing my own vegetables and fruits, having diners with neighbours and friends, and relaxing while taking the bath after the long day

i really hope i finally started the recovering people-pleaser phase. i’m so happy i found a term for it (found it myself on the internet after 2 therapists, but still i found one) that explained my behavior without it becoming an ‘illness’. i thought i was a fawner, but i honestly can’t give out compliments or comment on something positively when i don’t mean it. like i immediately recognize when people have certain qualities, i’m hypersensitive to that as i’ve always been studying why some people were liked and others weren’t and found that lots of the ‘unlikeable’ people had soo many good qualities whereas ‘likeable’ people weren’t perfect either
I think i have made an entire fool of myself yesterday talking to that exam comittee group on zoom but oh well i guess it was worth a try
