sungyeol was glad to have a roommate like joo. it’s even better when he’s his best friend, who knew what he like and did not like, and the former would be a good cup of coffee in the morning. though even if it was shitty, he would still drink it up knowing it was made by joo. (so he has a soft spot for his best friend slash roommate slash occasional fuck buddy? it’s complicated.)
nodding his head along to his words as he listened attentively, he wasn’t surprised to know that joobin had done his extensive research. he’s always been the most passionate out of the two, especially when it comes to the supernatural stuff, but that didn’t mean sungyeol wouldn’t follow him anywhere, even to the end of the world. that’s how it’s always been for the two of them and that’s how he will always want it to be.
“where they need to be, huh?” he raised a curious eyebrow at the younger (by only a few months but whatever — the korean age hierachy still remained with him to this day despite being far from his homeland for years now) male. “i hope he won’t be taking us to hell anytime soon because i still have a bag of weed in my closet that i haven’t gone through yet.” he joked, slowly taking a sip from his cup.
–the other male sat in front of sungyeol, observing his face as he was processing the given idea. the moles dotting his face were interesting at this distance, and joobin’s hand itched to reach up and stroke them, but that would be a bad idea; wouldn't it? he wasn't in that sort of relationship with his roommate. they were best friends. to an outsider, the way they’d touch in the dark was terribly intimate. perhaps it was. it wasn’t, though. it was just the way they were, period.
it was enough, at times like this when bin was flushed with excitement for what was about to come that night. the story they were about to undercover was pretty big on the internet, first mentions dating back to the first two years of uber operation. the driver’s identity stayed a secret to this day and he just couldn’t wait to document the ride.
“ah weed. save it for tonight’s celebration” his mind was already filled with various images of their victory. them getting high, him settled into yeol’s lap, bodies drawn as close together as they can, him allowing the older man to all but devour him. to do everything his sober self wouldn’t ask for.
but it all had to wait, because they now were walking down in the middle of nowhere, after being kicked out by the driver. a gust of wind blew stone dust into his face. his hand slid down from his bicep to the inside of his forearm. and he grinned when sungyeol’s hand turned palm up so joobin could continue the trail down to hold his hand.
“can you believe, uber is going to ban my account and blacklist my credit card?” his phone battery was almost dying, and they still had miles to walk. joobin tripped on the road, eyes glued to that leisurely moving arrow on the map screen. it was hard for him, to keep his attention away from his objective and now it was to come safely back home. “i was just asking him, you know. he didn’t have to threaten us with a gun. my box cutter is dull anyway.”
closed starter for @effulgcnt‘s wei. kept under read more for general mature theme
–after wiping droplets of sweat off his forehead and flushing toilet, shaoran tried to get up. he smiled wryly at his own, pale reflection showing on hotel’s bathroom mirror. too bad he didn’t bring his toothbrush with him, that acidic aftertaste of his stomach contents wasn’t something he could get used to. the unpleasant reminder of his actions, be it too much drinking, food poisoning or reaction to a dead body lying next room. right, murder. just at the mere thought his stomach twisted up again but the male resisted the urge to drop to his knees again. instead, he carefully rinsed mouth with water, wei asked him not to leave many traces.
“it’s not like they are going to search for clues, it’s all going to look like he suffered a heart attack.” wei would say, trying to reassure shaoran before his initial mission. they were supposed to kill a businessman who harassed one of their girls, almost kidnapping poor mei.
— if everything goes well, the real hotel staff will discover the target once weekend ends. — shaoran assured his reflection, pulled his cap down and left the bathroom. two maintenance workers checking up the air-conditioning after claimed power outage. he did all the small talk – lying through his teeth was something he’d mastered while working as a street dealer. it kept the target busy enough while wei snuck behind him and drove a thin ice pick-like needle into the base of his neck. within seconds the guy’s cheek landed at the table he was just sitting. his face looked like he didn’t suffer too much pain, but it was enough to make the less experienced hitman (if he dared to consider himself that) sick.
wei without a word took care of the scene and after they left the building, instead of uttering any comments he took his partner to a club, like any normal friend would on saturday’s night. shaoran made sure to drink until the part of the brain that creates mental pictures was dead. he washed the image of target’s face with copious amounts of brown juice. beverages numbed his thought processes but didn’t weaken his urges.
he had to get laid that night.
the male could feel wei’s hand on his thigh, nails ramming into the skin when shaoran tried to hold up a conversation with a pair of girls that came at their table. pretty and willing, giggling at whatever joke he threw at them. wei however to other’s dismay… somehow managed to scare them away, with one murderous gazes too many. that’s what shaoran was wondering aloud, two boys squashed on the back seat of a taxi on a way to his home. the driver told him to shut up, and he did, with a help of wei’s lips covering his own.
he was different than most men shaoran would get intimate with. wei bit and claimed, unapologetic and intense. while at home everything was happening so rapidly but shaoran allowed it to happen. he let himself be manhandled and claimed by wei, until they fell asleep together, their bodies well spent. shaoran woke up surprisingly early to wei curled up around him. it's a lot, and shaoran felt the electricity coursing through his veins flare up like he'd been plugged into an outlet or something. brain still foggy from the drinks in his system, wei’s presence and their previous activity.
wei joined him in the kitchen maybe twenty minutes after he left the bed. “i don’t eat breakfasts with one night stands” he mused, fingers tracing over red marks left on his throat, before pointing at two a seat for two, hoping the other would grasp his concept of future for their relationship.

👫 + yeol/joo
send a 👫and i’ll write four headcanons i have about our muse’s relationship: accepting!
ever since they initially met, sungyeol urges the other to call him hyung. at first joobin found it weird, mostly because his family lived in states for over half a century. he only speaks korean at home and in a shopping mall ran by his grandparents in san francisco’s chinatown. his parents are pretty liberal, treating him on fairly equal footing. yeol was born the same year as him but he still insists on being treated as the older brother. joo gives in, because he loves how smug his friend looks when he does.
like when joobin asks him to play born to die for the nth time during their night escapades. he just really loves that album, alright? yeol on the other hand, not so much. that’s at least what bin can tell from his eyes full of existential pain whenever summertime sadness chorus kicks in.(but joo still sees him hum along every now and then, fingers drumming on steering wheel)
they kissed for the first time at their prom. joobin just got dumped by his partner (well, he couldn’t blame her. he’s a pretty bad dancer.) and yeol decided to relieve him with some cheap alcohol he’d managed to sneak in, muttering something about big pockets. hidden under football stadium tribunes, joo tried so hard not to wince at the taste of the beverage, waiting for it to numb him. he still laughed at his friend’s jokes. they were getting funnier the more wasted he was. joobin could taste the lingering spirits on yeol’s breath, fingers reaching up to brush his best friend’s black bangs away from his alluring eyes. the other ran his hand up joo's arm and leaned in. there was a beat where joobin laid completely still before sungyeol leaned forward to kiss him, tongues messily against one another. it likely lasted shorter than he remembered before the older boy pulled back. their eyes locked through the darkness, sparkle in their gazes glinting in the starlight. joo blinked, not quite sure that he could see desire in the edges of his friend’s eyes before the said friend buried face in his chest.it was simple, back then, when it was just the two of them and the moonglow.
from an observer’s standpoint, their conversations don’t make much sense. this entangled mess of english, korean with bits of spanish and magical terminology can only be understood by someone as wasted as them. joobin never notices how often he switches between every language he knows when he talks with yeol. it's natural and the other will always find a way to understand him.

a burst of happiness shot through him when jonah agreed, half-expecting the answer. (the other being his suggestion getting turned down — thank god he didn’t have to go down that route.) he suppressed the urge not to practically beam at the other male though, instead choosing to give him a small smile. “i am on kakaotalk.” he nodded his head before pulling out his phone from his jean pocket, quickly typing in his password. to say that he was excited about their rapid progress from strangers sitting next to each other in class to exchanging kakaotalk usernames in a span of few minutes wouldn’t be enough to explain the feeling he was going through.
“very cool. i mean, if it makes you feel any better, i don’t use kakaotalk that much but i would make an exception—” heat flooded his cheeks realizing what he was about to say (a little too late) but he couldn’t exactly take the words back, could he? cringe-worthy as it was. “…for you.” adam silently groaned to himself. if he wasn’t making his crush obvious before, he was clearly making them obvious now. he could only wish that jonah was oblivious to his slip-up or he would die out of embarrassment right there and then.
– “oh just look at us becoming very special for each other in mere seconds. and they say romance is dead.” he smirked, watching how whole adam’s face flushed, crimson spreading to his neck. there was something endearing about how he initiated the conversation only to get all shy and soft throughout it. the other student seemed like a genuine guy, a kind of guy you could introduce your parents to. or take on a double date without worrying he’d hit on your girl. those images had flashed through jonah’s mind while they were sitting in silence as he took time to save up boy’s contact info. he even sent him a cute sticker as form of saying hi without using words. they didn’t feel needed, the silence between them feeling unawkward.
it’s something jonah noticed as well while finishing second plate of japchae. adam ordered it just for him when he shyly admitted he still was starved. he hadn’t realized how much his body longed for good, nutritious food until it was served to him. something about his eating habits would have to change, once he finally learns how to live on his own.
“so, what made you come back from states?” he asked and took a sip of his drink, then wiping his lips off with a napkin before folding it neatly to set it on side of his now empty dish. the sun shed its golden rays down upon adam’s face, bringing the other to his hometown and the countless sunsets he’d seen at beaches of hualien. the smell of philippine sea he loved to surf in, back in these days of freedom and juvenile innocence.

closed starter for @uikas‘s joobin !
yeol groaned as the sunlight filtered through his bedroom from the crack of his curtains. he always forgets to properly pull them shut every night (probably due to the fact that he was too high to remember), forcing him to wake up every morning constantly blinded by the light streaming in. every single time. flipping the sun off like he usually does (and as a reminder that he was a night owl more than anything), he turned to his side only to find it empty, earning another muffled groan from him. guess morning — or was it the afternoon already? — cuddles was out of the schedule today.
slowly raising himself up off the bed, he mindlessly picked up the clothes that was scattered around his room and put it on himself, not caring whether it belonged to his or his roommate, knowing that it wouldn’t matter either way. what’s mine is yours, he remembered saying to joo one night after pulling out a bag of weed from his backpack — which he supposed applies to clothes as well. “joo?” he called out as he entered the living room, tiredly rubbing his eyes before plopping himself down on the worn-out couch that came with the apartment. “please tell me you haven’t gone ghost-hunting without me or i would seriously be pissed.”
–sungyeol was not his boyfriend, even if the extra blanket on bin’s bed said otherwise. there wasn’t a name for what they were, stuck too far from innocence for it to be a mere “some” and too close to earnest greed for a “lovers”. labels had always been a game joobin had not found worth playing, especially when stakes were far too high. high was, though, a key word to describe what kind of connection they two had. sober thoughts were dangerous, which is why he constantly tried to thrust them to deeper corners of his mind. instead, focusing on their next target, next urban legend they were going to solve together.
from morning to dawn, bin was either glued to his notebook’s screen or studying occultist books. he visited various web pages, countless forums, and many different chat rooms. and he read a lot to connect all the loose ends.
“you’ve slept a lot, but not ‘i’ve been put in a coma’ kind of lot, so i didn't get a chance to.” he chippered, pouring hot water to other cup of coffee he prepared in advance. sungyeol liked starting his mornings – well, afternoons – with a dose of caffeine. “i got something for us. everybody is talking about a mysterious uber driver who does not take people where they want to go, but where they need to be.” his voice was deliriously happy, giddy even when he placed the drink in front of his roommate. “i’ve talked to people; young people, old people, everyone really who has seen the car and took a drive in it. the stories are constantly changing, and i don’t know what to believe in. so it seems like tonight we are going for a ride.”

haru ; ( @uikas )
“hey, haru.” benjy called out, sprawled lazily on said woman’s couch, which was not a rare sight to see, considering how much he tends to come over her place with excuses such as ‘there’s no food in the dorm!’ or ‘my members are doing their own thing’, always with a pout on his lips which works every time. “what time did the man go to the dentist?” propping himself up on his elbow, he grinned from ear-to-ear with his teeth showing, making his bunny-like features he was known for among his fans more prominent. benjy and puns often went hand-in-hand, something most people would find either annoying or hilarious — there was no in-between. it never fails to make him giddy though, his excitement similar to a five-year old. “tooth hurt-y!”
–she sat sprawled in one of the living room chairs with a cup of iced peach tea. sweat dripped down her from her hairline and pooled in places she didn’t want to think about. reo was sprawled down the corridor, looking for any tad of relief from mild summer’s heat wave. with small benjy’s help, she managed to fix the ac. for once he was actually any help, instead of the usual “feed me i’m hungry and lonely”. [ which she always willingly did, but never openly admitted. as if saying it loud would ruin the moment. some things were better left untold. ] “are you sure you still want to be an idol? with jokes like this you should be knowing bros staple.” haru smiled wryly at her dear friend’s antics. always thinking he’s funnier than he really is.

@uikas came to the practice room !!
–––––– ⟢ without any of them realizing, three years had gone by. how many christmases and new years have they spent together? fingers that brushed hesitantly against each other, erina could still feel how the back of chiyo’s hands felt –– how her knuckles tickled hers as they shuffled close enough for the other to feel the heat from her body. those hesitant touches now locked into a hand-hold. erina wondered why it took them this long just to hold each other’s hand –– each other –– like this. was there something wrong with this? was there something she feared?
she didn’t know but she knew that she had shied away from touches and gazes once they’re taken off the stage back in 2016.
“ah –– chiyo,” a stray strand of hair fell out of her braid and she tucked it in as she looked up at chiyo, the incoming figure who had brought a smile on her face. “good work today. i was waiting for you. for the halloween stage, they want us to perform together on CDTV,” there was a pause between her words. her dark eyes searching. a tint of worry, a tint of relief to finally see her friend again.
how long had it been? she’s been busied by her solo work and promotions and chiyo’s been on the TV a lot more these days. it was nice of course, then she could just turn on her phone to see chiyo laughing on variety shows, but it was different than being here. now. together. face to face.
legs moved to push herself off the training room floor, where she had sat leaning against the mirrors. “the other girls and i just finished practicing but i could catch you up on it if you’re not too tired. mostly just minor positioning with the halloween sketch we’re doing.”
– it’s been three years, three years since she’d decided to step down from idol life and follow her own path. variety shows that were quite helpful in developing her chara into something less cybernetic, more human that still had its roots in girl’s wit. a chiyotan with an upgraded human emulation module, as she liked announcing while supposed to play along her partner’s joke during their mc segments.
(before cameras roll, she likes to clench her fist, imagining it’s erina’s hand she’s holding)
while chiyotan was allowed to feel more, in private chiyo struggled with covering this sense of disappointment she’d been nurturing since these events from years ago. that fateful night of their graduation concert, where they left the stage together to start… start what, actually? she has had until now to voice out her longings, even to herself. to admit that even after these years, she still wanted, needed erina. in ways that seemed inappropriate and misplaced, felt so… wrong and yet right at times.
(like while dining out erina responded to her little touches, their hands idly wandering across the table to intertwine fingers. when with a sheepish smile of realization, she kept her palm stuck in one spot, her hold firm. chiyo could’ve sworn she rarely felt ever this safe like back then in that moment)
it hurt, it hurt when without a sign of warning they’d grown distant right after the graduation. they still were hanging out whenever possible but the air felt different.
(especially with erina retracting herself from girl’s hugs, her gaze cold and unwelcoming. after another try chiyo knew that it was better to not overstay her welcome)
something had changed without her notice but she knew better than to dwell on that when she saw that erina didn’t want to talk about it. to get through it she dove into work, taking all sorts of offers possible. it helped her establish her position in media, spread her list of contacts, so much needed in this business that relied on word of mouth.
her career had grown throughout these years, but chiyo felt like a kid nevertheless whenever near erina. like in that practice room they two were occupying to rehear before a surprise live. once again they were supposed to stand on stage again, the stage they left years ago. “i haven’t done this in ages, but i guess i will be fine. just don’t go too hard on me, okay?”

adam didn’t expect the conversation to take a turn so quickly but he wasn’t about to complain, not when his heartbeat sped up at the possibility of them meeting up. it’s not a date, he reminded himself, his conscience getting the best of him, you’re project partners! still, he’s glad that the other male didn’t brush him off easily and wanted to work on the project together. perhaps there’s some good things that will come out of this.
“i am, yes!” his attempts at trying not to sound eager had clearly failed and adam took a deep breath to pull himself together. “i mean, sure, yeah.” he rubbed the back of his neck, giving jonah a sheepish, almost shy, smile. “there’s this cafe near campus…a ten-minutes walk tops, it’s small but comfortable and really cheap too, maybe-” there was a hopeful tone in his voice, clearing his throat as he continued, “maybe we could go there to work on the project?” he wasn’t sure why he felt nervous all of a sudden nor why his hands were getting clammy but he chalked it up to it being a while since he talked to somebody this attractive before.
“but of course, we can go somewhere else if you want.” adam didn’t want to force him to do anything he didn’t want, especially considering it was their first time talking and he wasn’t about to get them off on a bad start. sure, he had nothing to lose ― this class isn’t even in his course in the first place, but he would have liked a friend nonetheless.
–"no, cafe sounds great really. i haven't been there yet." a sigh of relief heaved on his lips the moment he heard the other approving his plans. for a moment he feared that perhaps he was a bit too thrilled about the foolish idea of going out after classes. after all they were supposed to go out to work on a project, not for mingling. but still, he couldn’t help but believe that adam wanted to hang out with him, too. at least that’s what he was concluding from other boy’s excitement. because it was excitement, right?
“are you on kakaotalk? i don’t think we don’t share any other classes, so i guess it would be nice to keep in touch with you,” he intoned, inwardly screaming at himself for how flustered he felt. it’s not like he’d never in his life had to make friends or anything, but he was about to make a first one right here right now. in the foreign korean land. “i’ve figured out that’s what of most people in korea use, so i installed it after i came here. you would be my first contact, isn’t that cool?” bombarding strangers with self-depreciating humor was his preferred method of breaking the ice and probably the reason why jonah hadn’t made any friends here.
(deep inside he knew that it was just him wasn't helping the case by avoiding people. hell, he wasn't even talking to his roommate other than asking him to switch the lights off)
effulgcnt:
jonah ; (@uikas)
adam wasn’t supposed to be in this class in the first place. and yet here he was, three weeks in, sitting in the back of the class as he found his name (a name that belonged to someone else, but had the same first name as his and just happened to never show up in class) written in large capital letters next to jonah on the whiteboard.
perhaps there’s a reason why he stuck around for so long. not because his actual classes were a bore (which might have played a part nonetheless), but a certain mystery.
turning his head to the right, his eyes immediately landed on his partner project, whom he had been sitting next to since the beginning of the classes but never really talked to, his apprehensive nature getting in the way. it would be a lie to say that he wasn’t intrigued by the other male right off the bat, the aura he gave off enough to pull him in.
and okay, he might be a little cute, too.
nervousness settled in his stomach as he stood up to approach him. the project was definitely an opportunity for him to get to know jonah better and he supposed it’s about time he introduced himself. “hi.” he stood awkwardly in front of jonah’s seat with a small smile. “i’m adam. your- your partner project…?” he pursed his lip and cringed inwardly, unsure as to why he posed the blatantly obvious statement as a question.
–oh boy, he was struggling so much with his major. university was already a mistake per se. majoring in audio engineering was, in addition, a big pain in the ass. not that he didn’t enjoy it, on the contrary. he was content with what he was studying, and although it might not have been his ultimate passion, he did not regret the choice.
“hi,” he mouthed after tipping his head to adam, words falling flat on air. he couldn’t help but breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing his project partner talk, the american accent wielding promise of him being comfortable with using english on a daily basis. all of classes he had to attend were in english. language jonah – a taiwanese student – was pretty familiar with. probably the sole thing that felt familiar in this country. there was a pregnant pause between them where they just stared at each other. despite them sitting together for over (or almost? time was suchan odd concept to him these days), jonah never had occasion to talk to his deskmate.
well, he wasn’t talking to any of his peers, intimidated by how quick they’d switch to korean once classes end. it didn’t feel very welcoming, and he had no reason to leave his comfort zone. to his defense, jonah had been pretty busy with the new switch his mom bought him to “keep him company” ― and since he definitely had needed some company, it was only natural for him to run wide-armed to the console, rather than mingling with the strangers.
“are you free tonight? we could start working on the project.” he suggested out of blue. so soon, perhaps too soon. who would blame him, though? he was a pretty lonely individual.

“Anytime. I’m more a dog person but how one does simply can hate those furry friends?”

“Only Bruce Lee himself knows how many hours, days, weeks, he practiced just to be a master into using them. That’s why I’m genuinely worried you’re going to end up with purple bruises all over your face and body because they tend to hurt quite badly!” She dropped her shoulder in defeat, sighing loudly. “I’m not going to try them because I never used them before, and I never trust what happens in the movies!”
“But I’m not afraid of few little bruises. They usually prove that you had a real fun, don’t they?” There was a smirk forming on his lips before he handed out the weapon. “Why don’t you try them out first? I’m sure nothing wrong might happen!”
