“But she does not weep for herself; and those who hearken to her learn pity, and endurance in hope…”
He [Ulmo] loved not high words and concourse of folk, and in those deep waters moveless and empty he purposed to dwell, leaving the governance of the Great and lesser seas to Ossë and Ónen his vassals. Yet ever of his magic deep in his outmost sea-halls of Ulmonan he controlled the faint stirrings of the Shadowy Sea, and the lakes and springs and rivers of the world.

ulluboz-moved:
Deep sea/aquatic appearance
Ulmo does not often appear above the surface or walk among the lands, but he does remain in the deeps of the seas and moves through the canyons often. His appearance there is unknown to many, only Uinen, Ossë and the Oarni having seen it.
His skin changes color and pattern. Imagine an octopus, squid or cuttlefish for references. It is a means of communicating mood, intent and an ability to better blend in with his surroundings when he opts to be housed in a corporeal form.
Bioluminescent markings decorate his skin but some of them have been obscured from view where barnacles, coral and other fauna that can survive at depths has found a home upon him.
As it is now, the finer details are kept obscure to allow viewers/RP partners to project some of their own fears/mental images but little details will find their way to the surface throughout RPs.
Emerging from the sea
A tall crown he wore like silver, from which his long hair fell down as foam glimmering in the dusk; and as he cast back the grey mantle that hung about him like a mist, behold! he was clad in a gleaming coat, close-fitted as the mail of a mighty fish, and in a kirtle of deep green that flashed and flickered with sea-fire as he strode slowly towards the land. In this manner the Dweller of the Deep, whom the Noldor name Ulmo, Lord of Waters, showed himself to Tuor son of Huor of the House of Hador beneath Vinyamar. —Unfinished Tales, “Of Tuor and His Coming to Gondolin.”
There are also mentions of him appearing as a towering wave and he is supposed to be terrible to view.

Uinen, the Lady of the Seas, whose hair lies spread through all the waters under sky. All creatures she loves that live in the salt streams, and all weeds that grow there; to her mariners cry, for she can lay calm upon the waves, restraining the wildness of Ossë.
Looks at fancy icons. Looks at own icons. Hmm. I see where the next update needs to be aimed. They’re all too dark, I’m really digging this desaturated and exposed aesthetic and I think Idris would look awesome in that style cos y’know, you could actually see the details of the icon instead of overbearing shadows and too strong of contrasts.
Ossë peered into his brother's underwater halls with narrowed eyes. Four times he had tried to enter and found the doors barred or relocated, and the only reason he could imagine for such redecorating was to keep out unwanted guests. And there weren't /that/ many annoying fish this far down.
The minerals and heat from the vents in the sea floor combined with the current patterns had led to an abundance in growth in the corals. It was a bountiful fortune and for the fish that dined upon such natural formations, it was a welcomed buffet. However, it had claimed some of the architecture of his home. To Ulmo, it was not a bother and accommodated it easily.
It was rare he entertained company, it did not seem to be an issue that he needed to concern himself with but of course, it would be a natural and unintended deterrent for his vassal.
The rapid fluttering pattern in warmer tones and hues gave way to his laughter that resonated in the depths of his home and revealed his approach from a shadowed alcove. ”Would you believe me if I said this was unintentional?”
(ok so my layout attempt meant the askbox was not something you could use and poor Ossë mun here tried four times to send a message before it worked. I have fixed the problem but it was rather hilarious.)
Some people have New Year's resolutions to lose weight or eat better but mine would be to keep with this blog better than before. They may be some updates/facelifts to come. The theme is brand new and might have some rough patches but it was a rush job.
For now, the cuttlefish vala has returned.
Bain grabbed the edge of the barge for dear life when the barge was moved once again. Remembering the tales told by midwives of in order to scare the children into being good—made his heart beat faster, and he could almost feel tears coming from his eyes. Looking outside of the barge, the teen waited for the “monster” to appear—but the surprise was to hear and see a man sitting in the opposite side.
"Where—who—what?" The son of Bard was left speechless and didnt know what question should he ask first.
"Everywhere," he answered first with a slight chuckle. It was not often that he came to others and while there was an immense strain to keep himself contained to a limited fanar, he felt this was the less terrifying option in the end. Better to be something visible than the creature of wild imagination lurking in the mists and the depths. "It is not important," he insisted.
"You are safe though I can understand your fear and confusion, it is only natural."
ulluboz started following you
"Hello, is someone there?" The son of Bard asked, at feeling the barge stir—-'This is the last time I ignore Da's words and take the barge without permission' He thought, nervousness filling him up.
It was not often that someone asked an open lake a question, but he recognized it as the voice of a child - or at least someone young. As if on its own, the barge stilled. For a moment, the mists rolled in heavier and the woodwork of the vessel groaned as if from under a new weight. Once they cleared, there was a man sitting opposite the youth. "It is only me but I am always here, merely unseen."

The Case of the Fishy Behind
Ossë was coiled to strike, tense and brightly lit and hissing like a kettle. It was a generally impressive display, but was ruined that evening by how easily the currents swayed his form and how his eyes never quite seemed to focus. Still, his claws and fangs were bared and his fins flared.
"I am not shouting at your rear end,” he replied, sneering a very poor attempt at a mocking voice. “I am trying to communificate with the fish you have in it!”
He shot forward and overestimated his trip, going too far beyond Ulmo before he spun and managed to flip himself belly up in the process. Squawking in flustered outrage he wriggled and curled himself upright, then swiveled to dart back towards his brother again. “If you can hear me, I will get you out,” he called.
"There is not a fish in there!" he defended, the colors on his skin flashing bright and alarmed at the accusation. Of all the things Ossë could come to him with!
At least it was entertaining to watch the other flounder around as he combatted with his own form and the currents alike. He stayed still, for the most part, and twisted only as much as necessary to watch the other. On the other hand, it was a terrifying and saddening thought that this was the one he trusted to protect and master the shallow waters and the shores.
"Are you sure you are being loud enough? I do not know if Nowë heard you," he grumped and placed a large hand protectively over his own rear. "Why would you think there was a fish there?"
The Case of the Fishy Behind
Rumors had been circulating for as long as (or longer than) Ossë could remember that the king of waters shared a certain peculiar interest as one of his creations. Everyone had been bemused by the sea slugs with fish that lived in the slugs’ posteriors, and a joking comment had once been made that Ulluboz made such a creature because he shared that inclination.
Ossë had scoffed and tossed his head and sneered. And wondered. But there was no proper way to ask a sibling if they had a fetish for fish in their bums, so the Maia had simply ignored the possibility. Until he became properly inebriated and bored and curious after thousands upon thousands of years of thinking.
He hissed and jerked his head up to look towards his brother. “I am not speaking to you,” he snapped. “I know the rumors and I intend to uncover the truth! I shall defend the seas’ inhabitanants — even from you!”
"Shouting at my posterior will not protect sea creatures but it might confuse any nearby greatly!" he snapped in return and turned quickly to face his vassal once more. A flurry of small bubbles moved up and around him from the sudden movement and the colors and patterns on his skin signaled his confusion and alarm.
What rumors? There were always rumors but which ones was the mystery. He had heard the rumors that he was infringing upon Irmo's domain by speaking to others through their dreams and wandering thoughts. There were rumors that he had favorites -- and that much was true. What rumor would put others in danger though?
For a moment, his form loomed over Ossë's and he seemed as if he was going to go on the defensive before he thought better of it. The scent of rum wafted on the currents and permeated the sea from his form. It would not do to start a fight over rumors when he was in an inebriated state.
"By all means, enlighten me as to the rumors before you continue to shout at my rear end," he prompted.
