I'm putting the masterpost back up for convenience but don't expect updates soon. I'm still going through some shit.

Well, since the last masterpost got buried, I figured I might as well make a new one, with some easier navigation.

One of the reasons I made this AU is because I got tired of a lot of the dehumanizing, often evil and amoral depictions of the player. I decided I'd make an OC I can tell a story with to express my own ideas and love for the games and the community that inspired me.

sometimes mental illness does make you act like a piece of shit. when my ocd was undiagnosed a couple years back I was absolutely insufferable because I could not control my confession/reassurance and rumination compulsions at all and I fucking hated myself so everything had to be morally pure or I would spiral and I made myself believe and said some things that made my personality not the best. sometimes healing means knowing that you are not perfect. sometimes mental health issues make people act awful and that does not give you the right to demonize and dehumanize them or the disorder. yes even that disorder. and sometimes you have to forgive yourself for the bad things you believed. you are not perfect and that is a good thing.

I think reading about the Kris OCD theory has added another layer of reasoning as to why Kris doesn't want the player posessing them.

It could be that Kris' dialogue options presented to us are actually some of their intrusive thoughts, and while *they* might not act on them, we can. And that is usually the biggest fear of people who have OCD, not just the thoughts themselves but also the idea of acting on them.

OCD itself generally feels a lot like some demon in your brain feeding you upsetting scenarios/ideas. But most of the time you'll never act on them, because a lot of these thoughts are irrational.

Now imagine if you will, having an eldritch creature who can openly view these thoughts as well, and act on them independently of your volition.

I feel like this is reinforced by the concept fans throw around that the genocide route in undertale is presented as an option, but the wierd route in deltarune feels like it shouldn’t exist at all.

It doesn’t feel like it’s supposed to exist because it's the antithesis of what magical thinking and OCD does.

It conjurs up extremely distressing, irrational thoughts and scenarios in the sufferer's mind but they're usually false or rarely ever occur most of the time.

Keyword being most of the time.

Because difference this time around, is that you have the power to make whatever Kris is terrified of a reality.

episodes of paranoia, delusions, and dissociation

cyclical thoughts/spirals

magical thinking

episodes that can be very similar to psychosis or mania

attributing human emotions to inanimate objects

dermatillomania and trichotillomania

false sensations (like bugs crawling on skin)

paying way too much attention to very small things

physical health issues caused by compulsions

symptoms that are "problematic" (doing things that are considered "wasteful", needing reassurance or validation from others...)

extreme, deep, dreadful fear of things that can't truly be explained

disconnect between emotional and cognitive/logical responses or thoughts

contamination fears

problems with addiction and dopamine regulation

other people trying to force exposure therapy onto you without your consent and it making your anxiety way worse

the best analogy imo for ocd is mosquito bite. its so itchy its driving you crazy and you know scratching it will make it itch so much worse later but you need it to stop right now and scratching it feels so good and even when you dont want to scratch it and you feel like you could handle the itch you cant even stop your hand from scratching the second you stop focusing on not scratching. except ☝️ what if it was inside your brain and instead of an itch it was terrifying overwhelming distress

While I'm busy getting over myself, have something I should've made way back in June but I just didn't for some reason.
