Can I rant ? I will anyway...

I live in a smaller apartment (two rooms) with my mum where there are two other apartments joined by the same staircase. This is in London btw. We were struggling financially so we decided to let the smaller room out. We knew this guy from this other joined apartment who was complaining he didn't like his housemates (an Asian couple). Well this guy speaks the same language as me and my mother do (Hungarian). He decided to come to our apartment instead of the one he's been living in. There was some confusion about this as the landlord is the same guy for both apartments. The guy just left the other apartment without a notice, by that, creating financial confusion in the other two tenants living there. They came down to our flat to complain about this to me as the guy wasn't here at the moment. The guy was talking to me while his wife was standing slightly behind him. He wasn't blaming me for anything and he was very calm mannered too. Well the woman decided to share her opinions as well, which were very valid and well presented. The husband at this point started to get angry as I was discussing the problem with his wife. He literally told her to shut up cuz he was talking. That was the first strike. Then later on the woman tried to talk to me again. He did that gesture where it looks like he's gonna slap her but we know he won't, still is a highly disgusting gesture if you ask me. The woman went silent. The third time she was trying to talk to me, the guy did the same gesture and said something in their language, which to I got bloody mad and told him not to do this again and let the poor woman speak. He looked confused. He built his reason on how we live in the U.K., a free country, so I let him know quite harshly, I gotta admit, that in this country equality was a thing and if he really does want to brag about living in the U.K., he should start fucking act like he fucking belongs. He got mad started shouting at his wife and told her to go upstairs to their flat. Then I told him, I won't be discussing anything with him any further and let him know that if he really is keen to solve this problem perhaps he could ask his wife to come down and I could continue the conversation with her. He did, tried to interrupt and every time I told him to shut up cuz I'm talking with someone else. I'm not really expecting to be very good friends with him but tbh I'm crucially picky on what kind of person let interfere with me. Dear beloved tumblr bloggers, did I do the right thing? I'm curious of your opinions.
