The best remedy, for excessive admiration, is to acquire knowledge of Islam in its purest form, and to practice appreciation of those that seem most rare and strange.Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allah, صلى الله عليه و سلم said: “Islam began as a something strange and it will return to being strange, so blessed are the strangers.” In Sharh Saheeh Muslim, Al-Nawawi quoted al-Qadi ‘Iyad as saying concerning the meaning of this hadeeth:“Islam began among a few individuals, then it spread and prevailed, then it will reduce in numbers until there are only a few left, as it was in the beginning.” كوني داعية إلى الله بجهد بسيط !! My mother taught me to think critically without spoon feeding it to me. I hope if Allah wills and I have a daughter, I hope I am a mirror for her. I hope she see’s herself in my soul.
She often said, “it’s not your appearance that you shall go to Allah with. Do not waste time looking in the mirror.’’
Years, later when I heard this hadith, I just recalled all that she said.
Narrated by, Abu Huraira, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, “Verily, Allah does not look at your appearance or wealth, but rather he looks at your hearts and actions.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2564
We need to counteract superficial influences from our culture’s and the society we live in by placing value on what Allah values – the inner heart and character of an individual. As Allah says,
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. {Ash-Shu'araa, (The Poets)Ayah 89}
Compliment your daughters/sisters on their inner character frequently. Most importantly, Make dua for your daughters/sisters daily. It’s a very different world than the one that our parents raised us in and the temptations are becoming more overt and bold daily. Make dua fervently that she will have a heart that seeks to know Allah and to submit to his servitude.
It took me months to rebuild my iman after going through a dark period of my life. Nobody ever talks about that, how to rebuild after loss. It’s not easy. But it’s possible.
A great scholar of the age, Shaikh Sālih Al-Luhaidān, has died. The Prophet ﷺ said, “The ‘ulamā are the inheritors of the Prophets.” Ibn Mas’ūd said, “Seek knowledge before it is taken away, and it is taken away by the death of the scholars.” Allāh have mercy upon the shaikh.
Shaddad ibn Aws reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say in his prayer, “O Allah, I ask You to make me firmly grounded in the matter and determined upon right guidance. I ask You to make me grateful for Your blessings and to help me worship You in the best manner. I ask You for a pure heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the good You know, I seek refuge in You from the evil You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know.”
