Upon regaining consciousness, a sharp sting was felt. Not in any specific spot —— the unwavering pain seemed to be all throughout. She remained in a groggy state, undoubtedly due to the morphine coursing about her veins. There was continuous beeping, not similar to the annoying whine of an alarm clock; they were paced out, one, two, three, BEEP, gentle and soft on ears. When Nerezza attempted to first open her eyes the bright interior was anything but welcoming on her eyes, leaving her momentarily unable to see. An inaudible word soon followed as she lifted a hand to examine her body. She came to the realization that she suffered various bone fractures and third degree burns. ‘ Fucking hell, ’ she said with a frown. ' Hey! Would you mind telling me what happened? Please? I can’t remember anything. ’
Connor groaned softly, rolling over and let out a muffled cry of pain. Broken ribs. Taste of iron. It certainly felt like he had been hit by something, someone, and a lot but he was none the wiser. All he knew was that it was raining lightly, it was dark, and as he sat up slowly he realized someone was coming towards him. “Back to finish the job?” He wanted to sound stronger than he felt, but he doubted it came off that way through spitting blood and shaking from the cold.
‘ oh, no, no, ’ she cooed. ‘ see, when i START something, i make sure i END it. ’ you could say she may have been joking —— or not. with the time her silence allowed, knees bent down enough to meet the wet ground. she quickly examined him, searching for visible injuries she may be able to heal. the stranger’s current state only further proved gotham’s dire need for heroes. and yet, there bowed nerezza, the exact opposite of a hero, with no intention of malice for now. ‘ tell me, how exactly did you end up being tonight’s punching bag for a lowlife? ’
—— THE VALENTIN BLOODLINE.
It was a game of TIME until the youngest Valentin heeded her family’s wishes and began practicing the art that is dark magic.
Oscar remains to be an influential figure in the world of magic despite his disappearance years ago. Having decided a change of scenery would be easy on the eyes, Mother Dearest and Malise reside someplace in Europe enjoying the luxuries money can buy. That’s the Valentin family for you.
‘ i wouldn’t drink that if i were you. ‘ norah mumbled thoughtfully, a dainty palm was pressed against her cheek and the other rested on the counter as she patiently waited for the bartender to serve her a drink. it had been an unnaturally long day for the blonde, but that didn’t mean she was any less attentive than usual. she straightened her body up and shifted slightly to face the person. ‘ they slipped something. ‘
nerezza slowly placed the glass down as she examined the liquor inside the glass. how stupid it was to leave her drink unattended. she felt more irritated with herself than with her possible assailant. a smile was worn on her face to mask the reflection of her inner thoughts —— you can’t expose your true nature to someone you just encountered. dark eyes greeted the figure of the young woman ready to respond, ‘ mhm, thank you, ’ she cheered. ‘ how could i ever possibly repay your act of kindness? ’
he couldn’t believe he was involved in such a conversation, but did not relent. ‘ all I’m saying, ’ he clarified, ‘ is that punching everyone you see isn’t really a sound business practice. and yes, I know how crazy that’s gonna sound, but come on. ’
‘ so, am i only allowed to hurt people who deserve it? ’ there was no denying it, she had no real filter now. she spoke her mind regardless of what others thought of her character. ‘ besides, it’s not like i punch everyone i see, i don’t recall punching you. —— have i? ’
vanessa sat on the edge of the rooftop of a building, rocking back in forth with a comic in hand. she had a childish smile on her face as she allowed her legs to dangle off into the void. ‘ you know, it’s very RUDE to peer over the shoulder. ’ says you, goodwill.
‘ well then, it’s a great thing i don’t care whether i’m rude or not ! ’ with a swift movement, the raven haired girl was seated just a few inches away from the other on the ledge. not a single word was spoken after, the cool night air simply blew all about, yet nerezza didn’t shiver once. you could say she was accustomed to it ; spent quite a lot of her time out and about the streets of gotham during the late hours. ‘ hey, watcha got there? ’ there she goes —— intruding once more.
