* / BIOGRAPHY .
if you know anything about the american tobacco industry, you’ll know the lozanos have dominated the business since the early days in massachusetts. the eldest of the lozano family was born on a snowy december morning and it was eerily befitting given her melancholic aura.
meticulously raised to be the perfect heiress, cameron turned out to be what every right-wing parent in high society aspired for their child. what made her all the more special was her early childhood talent of being able to memorize knowledge at the drop of a hat; and sooner than not, james and magdalena lozano came to the realization that god had blessed them with a prodigious child. at nine, she was pulled from private school and was sent abroad to an academy in the south of france to be taught amongst other gifted children. thankfully, school went by pretty quick when she was busy learning all about the sciences and the arts, critical thinking while following every possible rule of savoir-vivre known to man.
the thing was, cameron lozano was young and impressionable, but being surrounded by kids who actually enjoyed the subjects they were being taught made it harder for her to figure herself out. the life her parents planned out for her down to the second didn’t seem as appealing to her the older she got. in fact, cameron couldn’t seem to remember a moment when she felt good about it at all. there had to be more to being a teenage girl than absorbing facts like a sponge - a purposeless sponge, since now it didn’t seem so eager to have the floor wiped with it. the years flew by as such, only this time she started breaking the rules over and over until college came in full swing.
cameron returned to the states from france a refined young woman, but what her parents failed to noticed, however, was that she wasn’t the same kid that they once knew. everything they said, she did the opposite. typical for a teen.
young, sweet, only seventeen, cameron realized it was okay for her to drop those expectations in order to become the feral woman found in the paintings she loved so much. without a word of warning, cameron transformed into a free-spirited and lackadaisical creature in the stark contrast of the strict monotony of private catholic university. it didn’t take long for cam’s wild antics to finally get her into trouble and no matter how big the lozano family’s donations were, she found herself getting expelled her freshman year. the lozanos, majorly displeased with their eldest, pulled some strings to get her accepted into a new school - s.s university, where they hoped she would straighten out. with all its sights and freedom, attending this was an offer she simply couldn’t refuse. it was better than adhering to her parents’ rules.
cameron bounced back harder than ever and continued that exact same reputation she had in her previous university a few months that got her into so much trouble in the past. cameron rejected her status as heiress and became the life of the party, the troublemaker, the eccentric artist who simply couldn’t shut up! when cam isn’t slacking off in the brief moments she’s not skateboarding or enjoying a shroom high in the zen room, she’s breezing through classes and irritating teachers with her near perfect test scores.
.....truth be told? cameron lozano couldn’t have it any other way.
* / HEADCANONS .
while the style cameron practices currently in her works (and has been for a while) is decidedly surreal (some would go as far as to call it psychedelic, she has dabbled in impressionism in the past, leaving it after she found it too restricting (and after she started, to put it mildly, enhancing her perception with recreational substances while painting more routinely).
despite the academy in france having taught her critical thinking and a rational, mostly religious approach to life, cameron is very superstitious and interested in the occult, frequently giving semi-clandestine tarot readings to fellow students at s.s university. no one truly knows if she actually believes what she says she does or if these practices are more ironic on her part, simply another facet of the eccentric artist mythos she’s built up around herself.
she has, at some point, come across the concept of gifted kid burnout and recognized it in herself, although it didn’t bother her like some may think it would. like all her non-social responsibilities, it was just another thing to push to the back of her head.
she has a few bottles of bourbon, her alcohol of choice, hidden in strategic spots around campus, including her handbag, some of the ladies’ rooms and more. no one knows where they all are - probably including cameron herself.
cameron has always harbored something of a fondness for greek mythology, just for the sheer absurdity of it all and for what terrible beings the gods really were. then again, she’d been taught the old testament multiple times, and it didn’t seem that much nicer. whenever someone tells her she’s being a disappointment to god (more often than you’d think), she likes to think dionysus would be proud of whatever she’s doing.
she likes to write on the back of her paintings, but not just write anything - what she does is use a rather simple code she devised to mark what sort of influence she was under while painting the work in question. it just seems reasonable not to forget that.
while her drinking and drug use is pretty out of control, she doesn’t smoke as much now as she did when she was a teenager in boarding school. perhaps it’s because drugs are more easily accessible to her now, or maybe cigarettes just got too familiar because of her parent’s line of work.
she thinks it’s very funny to sneak up on others and then say something out loud when she knows it will scare them half to death. complaints have been heard, but not taken to heart.
her favorite holiday is halloween, partially because everyone suddenly wants her to do their makeup, partially because there’s twice as many parties as usual, and partially because of how triggered the most religious of her old classmates and family members she’s still in touch with get, which she finds hilarious.
she likes to gesticulate a lot while speaking, and has gotten her into quite some trouble back at the gifted children’s program when she accidentally slapped a bypassing nun in the face.
