The Lestrange Brothers Circus has become infamous among the wizarding population of the contiguous United States over its many years of operation. Truly, the only all-wizarding circus to date, mention it to a pureblood and watch him scoff at the very idea.
How lowly, a wizard bending over backwards to entertain muggles (both literally and figuratively). Muggle-loving families like the Potters and Prewetts were one thing but no one would have ever expected it of a Black, least of all Bellatrix. She had always been so proper, the perfect pureblood child. But when the Blacks lost everything, no one would dare stoop to help them. Instead they only stepped forward to take their place.
Any proper witch would turn up her nose at the very mention. The circus of all things? Perhaps that’s just where the Blacks belong. Young women who once envied the Black sisters now tittered at the thought that women like that had once walked in the same social circles. Living beside freaks and performers who grovel at the feet of muggles. On a train no less. It’s almost too outrageous to be true!
You might imagine the field day that was had when Bellatrix Black married Rodolphus Lestrange. There’s no place for those sort of people in proper wizarding society the men and women agree over a dinner cooked and served by the ignored house elf.
As the rest of the girls laugh at the absurdity of it all, Emmeline Vance sits apart and wonders, what if?
