Roan scoffed. He folded his arms across his chest and said, “Whatever the boss says goes, huh?”
He unwound his arms and shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans with an easy shrug. “Sure, makes sense. Not everyone here has the same experience, right.” And not everyone here had any sense, as far as he could tell, but he was too new and this stranger too unknown for Roan to start shooting his mouth off.
There was something about the guy—Sebastian—that unnerved Roan. He wasn’t sure what it was, yet, but he suspected the man was more dangerous than he let on; his answers were brief and simplistic, but there seemed to be more going on behind his dark eyes.
Roan let a crooked grin slid across his face. “So this Petrelli School. We got anyone on the inside? What type of security do they have? Can it be infiltrated?”
“Usually, but that’s also the best way to stay on her good side and keep from investigating you. And trust me, I’ve witnessed it, you really don’t want the boss against you. Charlie won’t hesitate to kill anyone who stands in her way or turns.” His last sentence had a double meaning which Sebastian hoped Roan understood.
At Roan’s list of question, Sebastian plastered a convincing fake smile on his face. This wasn’t going to end well, but at least Charlie would like his initiative.
“As far as I know, we don’t have anyone on the inside, but Charlie also doesn’t disclose every person’s mission with everyone else. He’d be the person to ask and I’m sure Charlie would be pleased to know you’re interested. The matter of security is...difficult to answer. Sometimes it looks as if the place has excellent staff for it and other time...the place is free reign. You’d have to scope the place out for a few days to get a good feel for it.”
