Canon Seekers: Tortured souls, constantly half crazed, savage and vicious and barely able to keep their grip on a mask of humanity as they slowly and deliberately pull their own lives to pieces
Most actual seeker players I know: lmao watch this *chugs an entire gallon of corn beer and backflips out the window, flipping the bird and spouting memes*
Postal Rat Heist RPG
WARNING - Contains Fallen London SPOILERS
Postal Rat Heist (A Sunless Sea re-skin of Honey Heist by Grant Howitt)
Its Hallowmas 1894. You are disgraced postal rats looking to restore your reputation by undertaking the greatest package delivery in the history of the neath. Two things -
One: Nefarious pirates have learned of your delivery and mean intercept it, by any means necessary Two: You are a G*****N RATTUS FABER.
Roll 3D6 to determine your role, and your rat type:
Descriptor: 1. Dreaded 2. Delicious 3. Persuasive 4. Honey-mazed 5. Shadowy 6. Mysterious & Indistinct
Rat Type (Special Ability): 1. Sewer Rat (Increase Nightmares) 2. Ship Rat (Zalty Behavior) 3. Marsh Rat (Peckish Consumption) 4. House Rat (SCIENCE!) 5. Roof Rat (Find cheese) 6. Venge-Rat (Dangerous action)
Role: 1. Gunnery Officer 2. Chief Engineer 3. Cook 4. Surgeon 5. Captain (or Co-captain) 6. Mascot
Name your postal rat, if you want. You can talk, but other species tend to not take you seriously.
Stats: You have two stats - Rat and Postal Worker. Both Start at 3. Use Rat to gnaw, scurry and climb, burrow, increase nightmares, and generally do rat stuff. Use postal worker to do anything not directly related to being a rat.
Actions: When you act, and the outcome is in doubt, roll a D6. If it’s equal to or under the relevant stat, you succeed. If it’s over the stat, you fail. If you’re using your rat special skill, or doing something covered by your role, roll 2 dice and pick the lowest.
Bonus Hat Table (roll a D8): 1. Pirate Hat 2. Exceptional Hat 3. Pair of Luminous Neathglass Goggles 4. Fecund Amber Tiara 5. Sporing Bonnet 6. Cosmogone Spectacles 7. Ridiculous Hat 8. Roll Twice
Changing States: Hey GM! When a player rolls dice and the lowest dice they roll is a 6, introduce a twist or unseen complication into the proceedings.
Frustration - When a plan fails and you run into difficulty, move one point from Postal Worker to Rat. Duty - When a plan goes off without a hitch, move one point from Rat to Postal Worker.
You can voluntarily move one point from Rat to Postal Worker by doing a flashback scene in which you and the other rats plan out the delivery over tea in the back room of the Nuncio post office. You can voluntarily move one point from Postal Worker to Rat by eating a load of cheese.
The End: If your Postal Worker stat ever reaches 6, you are lured by the pull of Nuncio and betray the party. If your rat stat ever reaches 6, you flip out rat-style and lose it, presumably to be picked up by rat hunters from the Department of Menace Eradication (DoME).
Random Tables to set up the adventure: The package is being sent to a:
(first word) 1. Bizarre 2. Possessor of an improbable number of weasels 3. Revolutionary 4. Coffee-addled 5. Dangerous 6. Baroque
(second word) 1. Rubbery Pirate in Gaider’s Mourn 2. Blemmigan Researcher in The Uttershroom 3. Urchin in London 4. Clothes Colony in Polythreme 5. Spider Cultist in Saviour’s Rock 6. Starved Priest in the Chapel of Lights
Aside from your advance payment in cheese, your ship is carrying: 1. The finest surface cheese produced by especially posh cows 2. A briefcase full of purified red-honey extract worth 5 million echos 3. A former Prince of Hell 4. A knife that turns anyone who holds it into Jack of Smiles (a serial murderer) 5. Prince Albert’s violin, thought to be haunted by his ghost 6. Miss Venderbight 1894, an especially attractive Tomb-Colonist
Security Threats (roll twice): 1. Hellishly advanced enemies 2. Your damaged rustbucket of a ship 3. The nightmare in the mirrors 4. A snuffer spy on-board 5. Unsecured cargo 6. The deadly Wax Wind
Pirates: 1. Rogue Ireme Riddle Fishers 2. Port Carnelian Tigers 3. Extremely lost surface pirate 4. Cabal of Seekers 5. A corrupt heiress 6. The Pirate Poet herself
But little do the rats know (GM keep this secret): 1. This ship is rigged to blow! 2. The Masters are en Route! 3. Look - a rival team of disgraced postal rats! 4. They’ve been set up! 5. The cargo was actually sorrow spider eggs, and they are hatching! 6. The islanders are angry!
“A crippling sense of what once was”
Christened “Loss” on discovery.
Oh no, the Hallowmas nostalgia is starting to kick in. Even if there’s no mechanical reason to do so, I loved Hallowmas as the season of mass networking between players.
I am sorely tempted to set up shop and take over Caligula’s Coffee for a Hallowmas party for me and 300 of my closest friends. It would be totally unrelated to anything official or any specific game mechanic, just a big mixer party for folks to meet each other. Aaaa someone talk me out of this, talk me down from the ledge of wild parties and endless inboxes full of kind messages from new friends. I am ~this close~ to throwing a huge coffee party and I know I shouldn’t. But my longing…
Hallowmas 1894
The Feast of Masks will take place from 24th October until the 7th November. But be aware, this festival of confessions and betrayal is unlike the ones that have come before it, and you may find that not everything will be revealed at once.
New for Hallowmas 1894 The Hallowmas of 1894 will include some new features, such as:
new confessions from prominent Fallen London characters
an entirely new way to trade confessions
certain companions will be involved
Fallen London is a city of a thousand stories, and gathering secrets will attract certain powerful entities of the Neath. Will you honour the trust of those who confess?
Confessions at the Feast of Masks Don your mask and collect confessions. Then it’ll be your choice to trade them to friends, factions, or other prominent people of the Neath.
At the end of the festival, Mr. Huffam will still be about looking to interview festival-goers. While the Spirit of Hallowmas is absent this year, you will still discover a Hallowmas epilogue and special epithet.
Destinies The ability to acquire or change your destiny will be the same as previous years. This can only be done at certain times of the year, so be sure to take advantage of the chance!
RP Partner: imagine this...
Me: what hell are you about to put me through
Send me a "☂" for our muses to get caught in the pouring rain together!
The Importance of communication.
If you have an issue with something your partner is doing.
Talk to them.
If you’re unsure about something.
Talk to them.
If you aren’t feeling a ship but they’re still excited about it.
Talk to them.
I cannot tell you how many times a relationship with a writing partner has gone downhill all because they would not talk to me about something. Blocking with no explanation, blocking because you don’t like what the other person said (not harassment, you just don’t like what they said), blocking because you’re angry is not the correct way to handle these situations. Some people will take that blocking very negatively, especially if you don’t talk it through, offer any explanation or give any indication as to what drove you to that to start with.
You could trigger a panic attack, cause someone to suffer a relapse or even drop back into self harm because they don’t know what they did wrong.
This is not how you handle these things, this is not how you treat other people. There needs to be ample and even communication on both sides. If you are angry, upset or anything like that then step away for a bit. Go do something to calm down and THEN come back and talk to them.
A majority of drama on this site is caused directly from lack of communication or misunderstanding.
If you want to respect your partners then you need to take the time to LISTEN to them. You need to have the ability to be patient and try to see what they’re saying. If it turns to harassment then, yes, block them by all means. If not, then you need to try and listen.
Do not block your partners without trying to talk through the issue first!
You have no idea how badly this post needs to be signal boosted. None of you (except for a few close friends) have any idea how many people have done this to me, just unfriend/unfollow/block me and I’m left in the dark with absolutely no idea why they did it or what I did wrong. Even as I write this, I still have no idea what I do wrong. I really wish it hurt less the more it happened but no, it hurts more every time and every time it happens, I further doubt myself. And NOW? NOW I have a “I’m not looking for friends” policy because so many people do it to me that I just can’t take it anymore, and I honestly can’t trust anyone to not do it to me.
And that’s funny because I came to this particular side of this ridiculous site for that very reason - To make friends.
Bottom line, don’t block your partners without talking it out first. I don’t give a fuck if you have anxiety and you don’t like confrontation - Anxiety or a fear of communication does NOT give you a free pass to block your partners when you think they’re not looking, it only makes you a selfish fuck and it WILL hurt someone down the road.
OP, I have no idea who you are. But I love you for making this post, and I want everyone to see it.
Always reblog this.

THE STARVELING CAT
THE STARVELING CAT
"The Starveling Cat has moved into your lodgings. May god have mercy on our souls."
She looked incredulously at the other, an eyebrow visibly raised behind her laced red mask. Hesitantly, she took the sheets with gloved hands, bright green eyes were laden with thick suspicion of the other.
Night was still new to the ‘Neath, after all. She’d had terribly disturbing things happen to her, so far, disturbing, yet wonderful. This place was somewhere she felt, at home, almost.
A parrot lay upon her shoulder as she gazed curiously into the other’s eyes, it’s feathers dull from age. The bird gave a weak ‘Caw!’ which sounded more like a dry cough, than a beautiful call.
“I’ve not seen you here before, and I’m rather good with remembering faces, especially one, as, distinguishable as yours (masked, she meant); do you always lurk 'mongst the shadows like this?” The young looking maiden inquired, head tilted slightly askew. Her words were dripping with a thick English accent, lips curled into a petulant smile.
"Come on, they won't bite. At least, I don't think so. Not if you don't try to read it anyway." He said with a quiet laugh. "Those sigils should be worth about five echoes total. If you need more...well, I recommend you find some work outside of robbery, or at the very least go find a tutor for it. There's plenty down here." He handed her another small slip, the name of Lady Felix on it. "She'd be someone you can actually trust."
If she wasn't sure it was a mask, she was sure she could see the smile grow wider. As it was, he gave a small chuckle. "Perhaps I have, love. I will say I've been here for quite some time...perhaps I've simply stuck to different shadows. Thought it's quite often that I ditch the mask, at least for some other finery."
@lucyarisato
Continued from like somewhere or something like that.
“The echoes? Oh, luv, I doubt you’d understand a word of what I would be saying. Explaining anything to you would simply be wasting my time. Isn’t that amusing?” She questioned, wearing her own little red mask, though, it hardly covered as much as the other’s. Her’s only ran around her eyes. She was bubbling the enthusiasm, at nothing in particular, yet she was increasingly agitated at the other. They had, after all, put a knife to her throat. But, she wasn’t going to lie and say that hasn’t happened before. In reality, she was only stealing the money to buy a new little pet for herself, nothing more. “Now then, sir, what’s your name?”
"Mm, I understand dear. Don't worry about it~" she saw his eyes light up from behind the mask. "Well...I suppose I can't just let someone like you go without any prize...you put up with me, after all." He rifled through his pockets, pulling out a few sheets of lead with sigils on them, tossing them to the girl. "There you are Miss N. No harm, no foul. As for my name...call me Troper."
As he said this, picking himself up, he looked up to where Diaval was listening in. Ravens were so convenient for tailing people...he'd follow her home, and he might have to drop by later.
