Sho Takaoka in グラスハート (2025) | EP 10
Glass Heart x OST [cr] For going on this journey with me, I thank you. TENBLANK is nothing without you. Thank you all.
WHY YOU SHOULD 10000% WATCH GLASS HEART BECAUSE MY HEART!!!
Guys I can't even say just how great this show is and if Machida Keita and Satoh Takeru's presences don't simply sell it for you MAYBE BAND MACHIDA KEITA AND SATOH TAKERU WILL BECAUSE HOT DAMN! The music! The bromance! The polycule vibes!!!!
MACHIDA KEITA'S LONG WAVY HAIR DESERVES A POST ALL OF ITS OWN AND MAYBE MORE.
Okay plus this is NOT a BL AT ALL but they fucking had SO MANY BROMANCE HEART EYES <3 HEART HEART moments between the male main characters like HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE YALL BE HETERO-ING THIS!!!!
The cinematography is also fucking A+++++!!! Damn the first 3 minutes had me sold!!!
But anyway I'm here to get yall to start watching this damn thing because 10 episodes of musical genius, longing/doting looks between band members, a bit of bittersweetness, a lot of personal growth and getting past your own barriers, plus HEALING. AND FOUND FAMILY AHHHHH so here goes.
*THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS BUT THIS SHOULD NOT DETER YOU!!!
Summary
Fujitani Naoki is a genius composer who at the start of the show, is putting up a band with famed guitarist Takaoka Sho, keyboardist (and everything else) Sakamoto Kazushi and his muse, rookie drummer Saijo Akane, who reunites with Fujitani 3 years after an impromptu duo performance after she gets kicked out of her band. She's been trying to achieve her dream of being a band drummer over the next 3 years but keeps failing, and all that changes when she by chance, delivers food (her part-time job) to Fujitani's house one day, and interrupts a jamming/composing session between Fujitani, Takaoka and Sakamoto, and just as they wonder what the drum line should be like, she jumps on the chair — and plays.
Unbeknownst to her, Fujitani has been looking for her for the past year, as her drumming that rainy day 3 years ago when he dueted with her, sparked something that had been slowly dying inside of him. At that time, he had been betrayed by his good friend, composer and music company owner, who jealous and afraid of Fujitani's talent, stole his songs and removed his credits. That was also the time at which Fujitani got pretty sick ;-; and just when this genius had all but spiralled into a depressive, hopeless abyss, Saijo Akane's drumming sparked his thirst for life again.
He goes on to look for Takaoka, who had a couple of years back met him on the streets while he was busking and asked him to form a band, but he had rejected him then. He convinces Takaoka to take the band up with him again a couple of years later, then meets Sakamoto, who is also a brilliant composer himself (plus keyboardist and other instruments), and finally finds Saijo Akane. That kicks off their band journey as they overcome various obstacles to launch their first album, to accept each other and blend perfectly with one another, to be Fujitani's A+ team while also each holding their own sound, and also dealing with Fujitani's health — which seems much more severe than they had initially reckoned.
Fun Facts
Total 10 episodes | Netflix produced with Season 2 in the works
Based off a manga of the same name!!!
10 songs total!!! GLASS HEART SONG IS A MUST-LISTEN
Produced by Satoh Takeru!! Over 3+ years!!!
Each of the four main characters in the band are really playing their instruments, and Miyazaki Yu, who plays Saijo Akane, went through a really tough audition and came out on top, then spent over a year practicing her drumming for the show
Shison Jun, who plays Sakamoto Kazushi, and who's been in the industry for almost as long as Satoh Takeru probably and is quite close to him, joked that he was first casted to play the keyboardist, only for Satoh Takeru to call him directly and demand that he add bassist and vocal accompaniment to it and then hung up before he even got a reply. Shison Jun mentioned in an interview that typically these types of requests are fielded through the agency the actor belongs to first, but nope, Satoh Takeru called him directly, said "hey you can do it right?! i'm counting on ya" and then hung up LMAOOO
Songs are composed by a mix of big name composers, including members from veteran bands ONE OK ROCK and DAMN AQUA TIMEZ!!! AQUA TIMEZ!!! MY GOD
They sing the famous and legendary "First Love" too AHHHHH
You can buy their album right now from HMV JP, although all early bonuses are sold out
Characters
— Fujitani Naoki (played by Satoh Takeru)
A genius composer known for his electrifying rhythms and just pure, explosive talent. Prior to starting TENBLANK with Takaoka, he worked as a composer with a friend, who ended up betraying him out of jealousy and fear of his gift. He stole Fujitani's songs, removed his credits and overall wiped out Fujitani's creativity. That's until he hears Akane play her drums in the rain at a storming concert and he's compelled to join her on the piano, and they end up with a breathtaking performance that lingers on his mind for years after. He finds a soulmate in Takaoka, who truly loves his music and his sound, and is willing to do anything to support and take care of him, and then Sakamoto, who's a little bit of a cute tsundere but also so very talented and keeps up with him. Akane's drumming gives his life, and he's very determined to compose a debut album for TENBLANK — their sound, not just his.
He's actually very softspoken, whimsical and drawly usually, very sleep-ruffled (because he is very, very sleep deprived and doesn't take care of himself!!!). He typically crashes out after intense, long hours of composing and producing, and worries literally everyone because he's so bad at being alive lmao. At other times, he's stubborn, very domineering when it comes to songwriting, performing and pushing his members to their limits and fulfilling their absolute potential.
— Takaoka Sho (played by Machida Keita YES CHERRY MAGIC!)
It was love at first sight for Takaoka when he sees Fujitani playing Time after Time with a street busker, and seeing just how brilliant he was. At that time, Takaoka was a 'freelance' moving guitarist who could not stick to one team or singer, but literally changes his minds SECONDS after the moment he sees Fujitani. He asks Fujitani if he's like to form a band with him, but Fujitani, still in the worst slump of his entire career and life, rejects him. He thinks that's the end of it, but Fujitani comes and finds him a couple of years later, interrupts his attempt at finding a gig, and convinces him to form said band with him (after a lot of dogged persistence and cajoling). He cares a lot, A LOT for Fujitani as a person and as a bandmate and is 100% his soulmate. He has to give away the spot of "muse" to Akane-chan later, but Fujitani is first and foremost always on his mind. His well-being, him being a little shit, him being unnice to the rest of the band unknowingly and so much more. He babysits Fujitani, soothes him, comforts him and is also the only person who'd walk away from him if that means Fujitani is alive, healthy and well ;-; Such a seasoned, expert and professional guitarist too!!!
— Sakamoto Kazushi (played by Shison Jun)
A little bit sulky but also a genius in his own right, Sakamoto plays not just the keyboard, but is also bassist and vocal accompaniment. He can't stand Fujitani on most days even as he 100% recognises and accepts the man's utter talent and gift, and is always the first to make a soft quip if he's upset at something Fujitani does (like taking his song and remixing it without permission in a way he totally hates). But he's a cinnamon bun at heart, and is always concerned for his bandmates, and also always has an eye out for Fujitani and Saijo (he doesn't have an eye out for Takaoka cuz Takaoka has his eyes out for EVERYONE). He falls in love with Saijo Akane, but also realises she only has eyes for Fujitani now, and has to kinda deal with that, but he's a champion at it. He's so understanding and self-aware, but also dares to fight for what he wants.
— Saijo Akane (played by Miyazaki Yu)
Very cute drummer who's still finding herself and her sound, while trying to meet Fujitani's expectations and becoming the drummer that can stand right next to him and hold up the whole band. She's initially quite rookie and gets quite distracted but what she lacks in experience she makes up for in hard work, determination and her gift. She's Fujitani's muse, and also his girlfriend down the road — she tries hard in her own way and is also Fujitani's number 1 supporter. She also has this huge network of friends who totally support her dream and it's awesome to see.
Highlights
Once again, not a BL but fucking hell they know what they're doing with the bromance and ambiguous flirting!!! I KID YOU NOT Netflix JP itself made Fujitani x Takaoka + Fujitani x Sakamoto cuts LIKE HELLO?!?!!? HELLO?!?!?!?!!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!
Takaoka is the band's mom, and also Fujitani's wife I cannot repeat this enough plus so much Fujitani whump
Honestly Fujitani x Saijo came as a bit of out of nowhere in terms of feels but I can see the potential. But also Saijo x Sakamoto ARE SO DAMN CUTE?!?!?!?! LIKE WHAT THE HELL?!?! Also they gave them a RED LINE scene what are you trying to tell me?!!? I truly feel like they're a much better fit for each other tbh they're really in tune with one another
And also there's side storyline between Fujitani and his childhood friend Shinzaki Toya, who's the lead singer of a very famous band OVERCHROME - they have some issues going on there but it's delicious, and Toya + his bandmate are SOOOO FLIRTY AND SOULMATES TOO!!
TAKAOKA DRIPPING FROM SWEAT AND PLAYING THE GUITAR I MEAN COME ON THIS IS A WHOLE NEW SEXUALITY ON ITS OWN + TAKAOKA IN TURTLENECK MY GOD
ALSO DID I MENTION MACHIDA KEITA CRYING?!?! TAKAOKA CRYING OVER FUJITANI CUZ HE'S SO FUCKING SCARED TO LOSE HIM!??!?!
My friends, please watch Glass Heart I beg of you.
You're the only one who's straight-up asked me to form a band. The only person in the world.
