"Ah, Miki-san. Hello, hello." She turned towards the familiar voice only to spot the one who looked like Sayaka Miki but acted a bit off. However, was it really out of her character, Umika couldn’t take the responsibility to judge at this moment, having met only one of the musical magician alternates so far, even though rumours stated there are several instances.

"Just as always, Asunaro remains a hot spot. Apparently, witches and gangs prefer to keep it that strikingly different from the rest of Japan that nobody would even think of visiting. How are you, and how are things in Mitakihara going? Is it even a bit calmer there since last year?"

"Ah, this…" Umika’s voice faded to calm and even a tad uninterested in an eyeblink. "No, sadly not. And thank you for saying it, so I can plan spending my vacation overseas. As for this fact itself, you picked the most wrong one of all people possible, as I have almost no connection to magical community of Mitakihara and Asunaro, and those acquainted with be prefer to leave me uninformed about it."

"What?!" That was bullshit and Kyouko knew it. There was no way that someone like Umika was kept in the dark. "Th' fu--" She cleared her throat, having caught herself before she began to talk like she did before. "You can't expect me to believe that! There's no way you don't have some people that keep you informed!"

"I’m afraid you won’t find Asami-san here. You should better visit Pleiades’ household in northern residential area, where the group still is intact. But if I’m of any use for you right now, I’m more than willing to hear you out." She guided her guest inside and prepared a humble set of snacks to ease the conversation, even if a bit. "So, how can I help you?"

"There is a rumor going around. A rumor that a walpurgisnacht might manifest soon. A very powerful one. Do you know anything?" She figured that Umika, being someone with connections, might know something useful about this situation. Plus, she had ties to the saints. This was a good place to start.

Madoka stretched as she wandered out of her house that morning. The week was coming to a close but Madoka still hadn’t lost her weekly drive for school. She loved school, even if she wasn’t very good at many of the subjects, but instead of scorning it she found that it was a good way for her to spend time with her friends. Particularly, Hitomi and Sayaka.

Admittedly she was a little worried about Sayaka lately, but had mostly chocked it up to her situation between Hitomi and Kyousuke, though she was glad that the green-haired girl had been doing her best to patch things up with Sayaka.

She was nearing her usual meet-up spot with the two of them, and found herself at a run, waving to get their attention once they finally got in her sights - well, actually, a fair bit of green hair was missing. Strange that Hitomi wouldn’t be there.

"Sayaka-chaaaan~!"

What to do here? Kyouko had been trying her best with Madoka. It was getting more and more difficult as things went on. Specifically because Madoka was always so nice. It really made this hard to hide. One thing was good... Kyouko had learned the way around here, and didn't need to be directed by Hitomi or Madoka. At the thought of Hitomi, Kyouko wished that the greenette would quit talking to that stuck up violin player. She was way too good for him, and deserved far better.

"Look who decided to finally show up!" She ran to Madoka and lifted her into the air with a hug. Kyouko and Sayaka had nearly the same physical strength, so lifting the pinkette was not difficult. What was difficult was seeing the smile on her face as it happened. Seeing Sayaka made her happy. Very happy. There was no way to miss that. Kyouko was playing the part, yes. But she was actually beginning to enjoy this life. She had loving parents and real friends. Even if she had originally told herself she wasn't going to go along with it, she had come into conflict with herself. She couldn't say anything, because no one would believe her. On the other hand, she couldn't keep this up because she was starting to fall into this being the norm for her. What could she do?

Did Sayaka think this far ahead when she'd done this? Probably not. She was that sort of person. She just went and did things without thinking them through very much. Madoka wouldn't think too much about 'Kyouko' not being around. Even though she had actually talked to Kyouko a few times, saying something about her being her 'secret friend'. Madoka was genuine like that. Yet another reason Kyouko couldn't bring herself to say anything.

She looked into Madoka's face as she lifted her. "You're going to be my girlfriend for the day! No, for a week! Or maybe you'll just be with me for all eternity! We'll be together forever and ever!" Kyouko was getting way too good at this. WAY TOO GOOD. She needed to stop, but she couldn't. This was a different life now. Setting Madoka down, she kept hugging onto her. "I'm still not letting you get popular with the boys. Nope! I'll just have to stamp---" She placed a hand on her hip and pointed to Madoka.

"Private property! Trespassers will be prosecuted! Right on your forehead!" This was not okay. No. Not at all. Not in any way. But there was no way out. It had to be that way, and Kyouko couldn't show how badly this was hurting her to lie to Madoka like that.

"Privacy? Of course, Miki-san. You can be sure nobody will overhear us in my house. Please, come in, as I trust we have a thing or two to discuss." Thankfully, Sayaka caught her right beside the house, and even though such a reply crossed all Umika’s plans on going for groceries, she wouldn’t mind it. So, moments later, she made sure the blue-haired Magi entered the house and locked the door firmly.

"Speak up, Miki-san… or how should I refer to you?"

"Miki-san is just fine... Umika-san." She even threw in an honorific for good measure. "First off, who is that white haired girl that I see here and there? She looks like one of yours, kinda like Asami-san?"

That was a relief. Umika and Sayaka did know one another. Her cover was not blown yet. “Gangs?” There was gang violence in Asunaro? That was new to her. Kyouko had only been there a couple times. She hadn’t noticed that sort of thing yet. Yet was likely the key word there. And when had it ever been calm in the city? Umika must have been joking about that one.

And then Kyouko did her best to poke fun at Sayaka. She hoped the blunette was watching from somewhere. “I’ll just have to deal those gangs  and witches some justice deluxe!” Thaaaaaat was probably too much Kyouko. But she wanted to burst into laughter right there.

"Justice deluxe, you say?" The writer chuckled lightly. "Well, you can say so. Bringing the methods of handling things in your hometown here? A nice cultural fusion it would be. All in all, it’s not Mitakihara, we do things different here."

Circling around her companion, Umika continued. “Well, perhaps the thugs here should really get prepared; all in all, they say all magical girls in Mitakihara are protected by a deity of sorts, being widely appreciated both there and in nearby Kasamino town. Right?”

Kyouko's face became much more serious than before. Deity... there was no deity; and in Sayaka's case, there was no resolution. "No Umika. There's nothing like that here. I can be absolutely sure there isn't." If there was a deity, this wouldn't have happened. None of it would have. She would still have her parents, her senpai, and Sayaka.

"There's a couple things we need to talk about. Is there a good place for us to have some privacy?"

"Is there something you needed?"

"Wha-What are you doing? Senpai…" Kyouko’s expression fell as she began to put things together. "No." Her eyes widened. "Tell me you weren’t going to…"

"I was just finishing some things, nothing really to worry about." She smiled again "Can I help you with something? I’d like to get back to what I was doing as soon as possible."

"But you..." She had seen what Mami's expression had been, and that she was reaching for her rifle. This wasn't the first time Kyouko had seen something of the sort. No, this was an expression she had seen on Sayaka's face. "What is it you were doing?" She looked straight into Mami's eyes. "What? Tell me."

The pipe is spray painted with hammered silver to make it look like a real metal pipe.

I thought those props would diversify Moemura's blunt melee weapon arsenal.

Homura really didn’t like how this Sayaka, whoever she was, acted towards her. She should have expected this kind of reaction anyway, but she wasn’t going to let the other one go just yet. A liar… but a con artist… Why? Were those directed towards the other Homura? Her frown became harsher when the other told her to ‘shove her head back into Mami’s rear.’ 

"I think you have me confused for someone else." She muttered. Homura would get violent with this alternate if it wasn’t for the fact she is probably not Sayaka. "That is not the proof I am asking for, Miki-san. If you are Madoka and Hitomi’s best friend, why don’t you tell me how you meet them? Tell me more about yourself. Why did you become Madoka’s friend? Anyone who knows Sayaka enough would know that Madoka and Hitomi were her best friends, especially Madoka.”

"In fact… I heard you talk with an accent back there. And now suddenly that accent and way of talking is magically gone. Care to explain? I don’t think someone would do that if they didn’t have something to hide, you know." Homura choose to maintain her calm demeanor as much as possible. If she said or did something right now, she could regret it later. 

"I know you, Miki Sayaka. You aren’t like this, you don’t speak with an accent. And I don’t think Miki Sayaka would speak in such a way about Tomoe Mami. And lastly, which I just recalled now, you spoke of yourself as ‘That girl’ to Kyosuke…" Something about that was really familiar.  ”I am just asking you to prove your identity to me. I do not want to be your enemy.”

"There it is, right there! The way you're talking." Kyouko pointed at Homura in a theatrical manner.

She didn't particularly trust Akemi Homura, but she didn't distrust her. Truthfully, it was that she didn't know enough about what the dark haired girl was up to. She always seemed so suspicious. Now, what did Sayaka tell her about Madoka and her? Sayaka told her a lot. She should have listened a little better. Wait, this shouldn't be that hard. Think Sayaka, think Sayaka...

"Why do I need to prove myself to you? I mean, why wouldn't I be angry with that jerk? I spent all that time with him, and he ends up yelling at me! Then he goes and flirts with another girl right in front of me! Tell me you wouldn't be mad!" She was actually pretty good at this. "Accent?" She crossed her arms again, closing her eyes and turning her head. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I just got worked up cause of what he was doing."

"I wasn't talking bad about Mami-senpai when I said that." She leaned back and scratched the back of her head, smiling in a very Sayaka-esque manner. "I was talking more about you. But... yeah we don't have to fight." Maybe if she played it this way, Homura would lose her suspicion. "Just stop being weird about Madoka-chan, okay transfer student?" That was golden right there. She would get Homura to brush this off and then prove she was Madoka's best friend by hanging out with her. She knew Homura would see her. That would make this whole thing blow over.

"What is going on here?" A voice came from somewhere near, promoting them to stop.

Homura had been standing some feet away from them. She had been watching the whole ordeal closely before deciding to call that alternate’s attention. In fact, she had been watching this ‘alternate’ of Miki Sayaka rather closely. Something was off about her, and this whole moment confirmed her doubts. She walked up to Kyosuke and ‘Sayaka’ quietly, frowning. “Miki-san.” She grabbed her ‘alternate’s wrist and slowly set Kyosuke back in his feet to the ground.

Homura looked back to Kyosuke then, motioning for him to leave. Once he did, rather hurriedly, she turned around to look at ‘Sayaka’ and crossed her arms. “What were you doing? Why did you choose to beat up the person you claim to love out of nowhere?” She looked at ‘Sayaka’ closely, almost if trying to spot a different in her appearance. Nothing was out of place, but her attitude and… accent sure was. She talked like someone she knew too well. “…You are not using disguise magic. How strange. Perhaps you are an alternate?” She noted outloud. Though, Kyosuke’s statement didn’t seem to indicate this was an alternate. While they were all different, something was clearly wrong here. She had went from an strange attitude at trying to act as if she was Sayaka to someone else with an accent even.

"It appears you don’t know how to match your attitude and appearance yet, am I right?" She paused, looking at her ‘alternate’ more closely. "Are you really Miki Sayaka? If you are, please prove it to me in some way. Now.” Though her tone was harsh, her gaze on the other was oddly soft. “In advance, I apologize if I am wrong.”

"Pffff." Kyouko huffed as Homura had interupted, crossing her arms and looking annoyed.

Of course, the valiant savior acted. How perfectly timed. She looked around, trying to see if any of the others were watching. Homura never acted without reason. Her first guess, and reason of checking around them, was that Homura probably wanted to win points with someone. Madoka was always the first choice, but then she could be wanting points with Mami too. She didn't know why Homura did these things, and she didn't really care, but she knew the dark haired girl had an angle.

Proof? She wanted proof? "Madoka-chan and Hitomi-chan are my best friends." She turned her head toward Homura, glaring at the other magi. "And you're a liar, a con artist, and an asshole." She could hide her typical slang talk when she wanted to. It wasn't that hard. She hadn't talked like that in front of her parents, and not much around Mami.

"What do you know about me? Go shove your head back into Mami's rear and leave us alone." She still thought the actions of Homura had to have just been seen by someone she was trying to get in good with.

Kyouko waited outside the school for Kyousuke. She obviously knew that he was coming considering that Hitomi had told her so. This was not going to be a pleasant experience for the silver haired boy. In fact, this was going to be something that he was going to want to forget.

He walked outside, immediately looking at Kyouko, who was leaning against the wall of the school. "I was hoping to talk--"

"Shut it. I waited out here ta do the talkin'. Not ta listen ta th' bullshit ya probably practiced sayin' ta yer own reflection this mornin'." She had cut him off promptly, not paying attention to how she was talking like her old self to him.

His mouth nearly dropped to the ground. Not only had she insulted him, but it didn't sound like anything Sayaka would have ever said to him.

"At what point didja think it was aright ta toy with someone's feelings?" She promptly gripped his collar and turned to slam his back against the wall with a huff.

He looked utterly mortified. "S-Sayaka... What are you talking about? I was going to---"

"Ya were gonna what?"

A familiar grin came across Kyouko's face; and for a minute, she nearly forgot she was in Sayaka's body.

"Tell me I was th' only one fer ya? Gimme a fuckin' cookie while yer at it, why don'tcha? Save it fer glasses-chan in there. I'll betcha she'll eat whatever trash ya feed 'er. Poor girl doesn' got a clue."

She lifted Kyousuke off the ground, still grinning at him like she was her old self.

"Sayaka... I... What happened to you? You're not acting like yourself at all!"

"Oh yea? How's aboutcha remember screamin' at someone bringin' ya gifts in th' hospital?! How's aboutcha remember who kept ya company when no one else did?!"

She raised her fist, preparing to punch him. "How's aboutcha think about how yer hand jus' suddenly healed?! Guess what ya little fuck?! That same girl gave 'er fuckin' soul fer th' glorious goddam hand ya launch yer lap rocket off with every night!"

He closed his eyes, absolutely horrified, in preparation for the fist that was coming at him.

Being in school wasn't easier than getting there. She had absolutely no idea what she was doing. Kyouko felt like she was fumbling around in the dark with no flashlight. What even brought this to Sayaka's mind? She sat at her desk, trying to look like she was paying attention. Kyouko found it very hard not to think of Madoka and Hitomi on the way there.

"Sayaka-chan, you're going the wrong way."

"You seem a little off today. Is everything okay?"

"Did you finish your homework from last night?"

She had somehow managed to talk her way out of these things. Somehow, either by luck or fate, she had said or done the right things and not been found out. At least not yet. There was one thing however, that was bothering her.

"Did you get to talk to Kamijou-kun? I heard he wanted to talk to you in private."

Getting involved in someone's personal business was not something Kyouko liked to do. This was especially true if said personal business had nothing to do with her. This however... This she couldn't overlook. Kamijou Kyousuke... The guy she had heard Sayaka talking about. He was the guy that she had done so much for, just to have him shrug it all off. She guessed that he wanted to talk to her to tell her that he wasn't interested in her as more than a friend. Because it was fairly obvious that Sayaka had been upset about it before, and he had probably noticed it. He was most likely aware that Sayaka liked him as more than a friend.

She looked across the room and saw him talking to one of her classmates. The girl was putting on a shy act and getting all blushy. He was clearly into it.

What a jerk... She gave up her soul for this silver headed little bitch and this is how he returns the favor? I don't give a damn if he knew or not, but talking up that broad right in front of... Well it would have been right in front of her...

Overlooking this was not going to happen. Absolutely no chance. Class had ended, and so had her patience for this clown.

Kyouko awoke the next morning, unaware of how long she actually slept. It couldn't have been that long. Or was it? There was definitely movement in the house. She just wanted them to be quiet so that she could sleep. Sleep so that she didn't have to deal with this...

BAM! BAM!

"Sayaka! Get moving! You'll be late for school!" A man's voice asked. She was sure that was 'her' father.

Late for school...

Kyouko hadn't been going to school for at least a month now. She stood and walked to the closet in 'her' room. So this what it felt like to have money. She pulled on the school uniform, which yet again felt unfamiliar, and went down the stairs.

In front of her was a real breakfast, in which she had no idea what to do with. Before, even when her parents were alive, Kyouko hadn't been having meals like this. The only way she ate this way was to eat with Mami. She didn't do that very often, not wanting to take advantage of her ex senpai.

"Sayaka, you're acting strange. Are you sure there's nothing wrong?" 'Her' mother asked, smiling warmly.

She couldn't talk the way she normally did. She had to be a little more respectful here, otherwise they'd know something was wrong. And didn't Sayaka typically use honorifics? Kyouko didn't. This was going to be weird adjusting. "I was just a little stressed from schoolwork. I'll be okay." She still felt odd speaking with Sayaka's voice.

She finally got through breakfast, forcing herself to eat just enough so that 'her' parents didn't think something more was wrong. Now came the next problem.

DING DONG!

'Her' mother opened the door, revealing a familiar face to Kyouko. In front of her, was a pinkette with a big smile.

"Sayaka-chan!" Madoka walked to her quickly and gave her a hug. One that nearly even melted Kyouko. She played along so that no one was alerted. "You were running late, so I came to get you today."

How was she going to do this...?
