Samhain blessings to you all in the Northern half/Bealtaine blessings to you in the Southern half. However you observe this time of year, may your loved ones always be felt, both the living and the dearly departed.

I just found out from one of the Youtube channels I watch, Danu's Irish Herb Garden, that a Toronto-based mining company wants to go into pristine habitat in Connemara Ireland to search for gold and silver. This will inevitably devastate the environment and communities in that area. As both a Canadian and Gaelic polytheist with a strong devotion to Ireland, I feel the need to object to this. Although, I suppose anyone with a decent moral compass would object to it too. Please take a few minutes to watch her video in which she has links to folks in government that you can contact to write in opposition to this, especially I ask other Canadians and Gaelic polytheists to do the same. As well, you can find out a little bit more in this article here: https://connachttribune.ie/opposition-intensifies-to-conne…/
Or, I suppose this could also be called making the most of the time you have. Many of us live super busy lives, and I think for those...

Currently finishing off illustrations for my new book due out in August on Hill of Tara Press @taraopenstudio .
Thanks so much to @courtneydavisart for having enough faith in my drawings to publish this. It is incredible to be at his studio and go through Courtney’s sketches and listen to his knowledge of Celtic art. (at Hill of Tara (Temair)) https://www.instagram.com/p/Byx44zCIeco/?igshid=1hb5s4d7t97bu

On April 13, 1985, Danuta Danielsson - a Jewish-Polish woman whose mother was taken to a concentration camp in WWII - hit a local neonazi with her handbag in Växjö, Sweden.
Update: The neonazis were subsequently expelled from the city, and a statue was erected in her honor.
This week 34 years ago, Danuta Danielsson demonstrated how much respect fascists deserve.
My spiritual practice is not Scandinavian-based, but I have been enjoying watching this series on Nordic witchcraft. This video in particular, highlighting the importance of maintaining a good relationship between spirits of the place and nature spirits. Anything that promotes hospitality and reciprocity, I am all for.
One Month and Counting...{Pilgrimage Advent Vigil Candle}
Today marks exactly one month before I fly off to my pilgrimage to Ireland. In anticipation for this I had created an advent candle of sorts, to be burnt starting nine weeks prior to when I leave. Each week is marked with a different layer, each separated by botanicals that I felt were relevant to what I was wishing to bring in.
At the start of each new week offerings are made, prayers are said {I have been using an altered version of Charm of Grace as one of those prayers}, along with divination and meditation. Each week is dedicated to researching and trying to connect with one of the sacred sites we are to be visiting, along with other work that might need to be done, mundane or spiritual. While doing anything in regards to the pilgrimage, I make sure to light the candle each time. If nothing else, it is a good way for me to stay focused.
Creating a candle like this is super easy. I just used an old jar that once belonged to a seven day candle, but one could easily do a pillar candle, or even a votive candle for smaller advents, or if less time can be dedicated to keeping vigil. And an advent candle like this could easily be used to observe a season, a particular working, or whatever else your imagination can come up with.
Thanks to the lovely fellow Brighidine flamekeeper for the original inspiration, you know who you are. <3
A lovely Sheela’s Day to you all. :)
Under the Bramble Arch; is the second offering in a trilogy of books by Corinne Boyer a folk-herbalist.
I am so glad to be seeing some more works coming out by Corinne Boyer. Under the Witching Tree is a fantastic book, so it is great that it is actually a part of a trilogy. Next up is Under the Bramble Arch. Can't wait to get my grubby little hands on this one too.
