Hi there! I'm UnfinishedMural, a.k.a. Birdie, and this is my fanfic blog!
This blog is a mishmash of stuff related to my writing and occasional drawings, as well as my friends' works and non-friend fic recs.
I originally started posting fanfic to share my humanized DCA AU, Celestial Shift, but I also have works in other fandoms. I try to keep things PG-13 or under, but if you think any of my fics or posts need extra tags or warnings, please let me know!
While I am aware that AI scraping and many other forms of stealing are inevitable, I do not appreciate it. However, I am fine with others making references to my work, and making non-AI-generated fanfic/art/podfic/whatever based off of them if they wish to do so (if you do, I'd love to see it).
Ask box is always open, but anons may be turned off during periods of high spam/bot traffic. Please keep asks SFW.
Could you tell me about "From Distant Stars" for the WIP game?
Congratulations! You have found the original work wip! 🎉 This might be the longest post for this ask game.
This story was actually born out of an idea I had for a FNAF AU which I had called "Distant Stars AU" (mentioned in this post). As that story got farther and farther away from its source material, I decided to try filing the serial numbers off. This has been wonderful for the story, since I don't need anything to match up with pre-existing characters or settings in any way, and although it has been challenging to build my own world, it has also been quite fun.
The basic concept is pretty much the same as the au idea: a group of friends finds an abandoned alien spaceship hidden in the woods. The only survivor is a single, scared child, who the friends attempt to take home and care for without raising too much suspicion. They also continue exploring the ship in an attempt to find out who his people were, and possibly help him get home.
Originally, the main cast was au versions of the Glamrocks and Gregory, but I have attempted to come up with ocs who fit well without totally copying them. Here are my current notes for them:
Liam Livingston (Lion, Male, 31): Leader of the group, big heart, doesn't like conflict.
Ryker Erik Schofield (Gray Wolf, Male, 29): Energetic, loves team sports, best friend and former teammate to Tasha.
Tasha Evans (Polar Bear, Female, 29): Rough and tumble tomboy, loud, gives great hugs, best friend and former teammate to Ryker.
Skye Silva (Harpy Eagle, Female, 30): Quiet, sort of shy, adrenaline junkie, great baker.
Amirah Kayode (Moon/Comet hybrid, Female, 28): Peppy, curious, Celestial history nerd, wears colorful clothes and makeup.
Lucian Nova (Star, Male, 30): Imagine if Jax from TADC wasn't a jerk.
Parker Hewlett (Human, Male, 10): Stubborn lil' bugger, wants to go home.
Ryker and Tasha met when they both joined the hockey team at their school when they were 10-12, the others didn't meet each other until they were adults.
The main cast (other than Parker, of course) is made up of anthros based on animals and celestial bodies. All primarily land-dwelling mammals, birds, and reptiles are anthros, but bugs and sea creatures stay the same, plus maybe a few made-up creatures for livestock. Celestials are named for their resemblance to various celestial bodies, and are divided into stars, moons, and comets.
Stars have smooth, almost gummy-like skin with a faint glow that can brighten or darken due to strong emotions or health issues, and a ring of pointed extrusions around their heads (usually between 5-12) mimicking the shape of a cartoon star. Moons have semi-reflective rough skin (feels kind of like a lizard or a dry shark), and they can form crater-like scars from injuries. Comets have several long tendrils on their heads which start out the color of the rest of their bodies, but fade into lighter colors at the tips, with one or two of the tendrils closest to the face sometimes being different colors. All Celestials have large eyes with sclera that are similar colors to their skin, and lack outer ears, among other things that I will probably decide on later.
There are a few other little worldbuilding details in my notes, but I think this is good enough for this post. This may be published someday, but it will be a while. For now, have a snippet of Chapter 1!

The room was filled with a dozen large capsules, each made of the same white material as the rest of the interior. Many of them were open, revealing a few ports in the walls and a cushion along the bottom. They spread out to explore the room.
"Looks like the sleeping quarters," said Amirah.
"Or maybe they're stasis pods?" Ryker suggested. "Y'know, for long trips."
"Hey, this one's still sealed," Lucian called.
The others hurried over to him. Unlike the others, this pod had a faint ring of light around its base. Ryker immediately tried to pry the cover open, but he couldn't even get his claws in the seam.
"He already said it was sealed, genius," said Tasha.
"I was just checking."
"Do you think something's inside?" asked Liam.
Lucian shrugged. "Maybe. Or someone."
"If this ship has been down here for, like, thousands of years, how does it still have power?" asked Skye.
"Whatever tech those aliens used for this sure is impressive," Ryker noted. "Ya think we could get this thing to fly?"
"Even if we could, we'd have to dig it out of the ground first," said Lucian.
Amirah inspected the side of the pod and found a panel with long, swirling grooves, and a larger indent that looked almost like a handprint.
She placed her hand in the indent. It started glowing pale blue as the ship hummed with electricity.
"What did you just do?!" Tasha yelled.
Amirah pulled her hand away. "I'm sorry! All I did was touch it!"
The light spread through the rest of the object's grooves and indents, then into rings in the floor, walls, and ceiling. The pod began to glow brighter, and it let out a hiss of air as the cover opened.
Inside was a creature none of them had ever seen before. It looked something like an ape, but it was almost completely hairless, except for a reddish-brown tuft on the top of its head, and it had a downward-pointed nose and flatter mouth similar to those of some Celestials. It laid there so peacefully.
"Do you think it's-" Liam began.
The creature stirred. It took a deep breath, possibly its first in millennia, then groaned and rubbed its eyes. When it opened them, it screamed and pressed itself against the edge of the pod. The others were just as surprised as it was.
"Hi there," Liam cooed, once he had regained composure. "Are you alright?"
The creature didn't answer.
"Here, let's get you out of there."
Liam reached out to pick it up, but it bit him as soon as his hand was in range. He yelped and drew his hand back. It took advantage of his surprise to rush past him and out of the room.
"That sure went differently in my head," said Liam.
"Are you alright?" asked Skye.
"I'll be fine," Liam nodded, rubbing his arm. "Didn't break the skin."
"We have to go after it!" Amirah insisted.
She took a few steps toward the exit, but was stopped by Lucian.
"Why? So it can attack the rest of us?" he asked.
"Because it's an alien, Luc! How could we not at least get a picture? Plus, if it gets out, it could wreak havoc on the local ecosystem."
"It's so small… do you think it's a baby?" asked Tasha.
"Could be," Ryker shrugged.
"That would be another reason to catch it, then. Most kids couldn't survive alone in these woods."
"Poor little thing, all alone…" said Skye.
"A baby alien could still do a lot of damage," Lucian argued. "Its first reaction was to attack. Forget about the ecosystem, how long until it grows big enough to wipe us out?"
"Are you saying you wouldn't bite a stranger who tried to grab you?" Ryker asked.
"Arguing won't help anyone," said Liam. "We should find and contain the creature before it escapes, then we can figure out our next steps once we know more about it. Sound good?"
Most of the others agreed.
"Ok," said Lucian, "but if it unleashes its poisonous spikes or something, I'm out."
For the WIP game, who is going to date who?? (The "Will you date me?" WIP) đź‘€
Actually, no one will be dating anyone in this wip. The title is a reference to this video by Jehtt on YouTube, where Shadow denies Sonic's advances by quoting the Bible in Japanese (without breathing). There is also an alternate ending where Shadow quotes even more of the Bible (I think all of Genesis 1?), and it is quite relaxing. At some point after watching the videos, I started wondering about how Shadow knew the Bible in Japanese, so this fic is about that.
One day, Prof. Gerald decides to combine Shadow and Maria's foreign language and world religion studies by making them memorize passages from a Japanese Bible. Even after they have finished these passages, they find themselves coming back to translate more of the book, intrigued by the various stories, life lessons, and words of comfort. After several years and multiple memory wipes, Shadow forgets all about their nightly Bible studies, until that blue faker finally reminds him...

For the WIP game, could you tell me about the Princess and Her Knight?
Of course, little gray orb with sunglasses!
The Princess and Her Knight is another FNAF fic, this time not from the CSAU. It is another Lunessa fic, based on the theory of Luis being the Pizzaplex employee who leaves the logs about the arcade machines.
After Vanessa started working at the new Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, Luis decides to take a chance and apply as a maintenance technician in an attempt to spend more time with her. After all, you don't meet girls like that every day. But everything is not as it seems in this entertainment complex. Ness is avoiding him more than usual, guests and employees alike are disappearing, and the animatronics aren't acting like themselves. Can he save his princess from becoming another Fazbear ghost story, or will he become one himself?
Nothing coherent written for this one, so no snippet.
404 is a Celestial Shift prequel about the Superstar Daycare's first disappearance.
Three weeks after the update that made Moon go silent, Sun starts finding evidence that his best friend may not be gone after all. Unfortunately, the truth may be far worse.

There was a knock on the door. Officer Eli sighed before answering it.
"How may I help you, ma'am?" he asked the guest at the door.
"I'm Harriet Bueller, here to pick up Sean Bueller," she answered.
Sun ran the name through the database.
> Error: No matching guest profile.
Officer Eli checked behind him to insure that the daycare was still empty.
"Uhhh… well, that's unfortunate, ma'am, 'cause he ain't here."
"What do you mean he isn't here?" Mrs. Bueller asked, slowly. "Is he doing a special activity somewhere else in the Pizzaplex? I do not remember signing off on that."
"No, ma'am. We ain't got any kids checked in right now."
"There must be some mistake. I dropped him off three hours ago."
"You sure you didn't already pick him up?"
"Yes, I'm sure! What kind of question is that?" She pushed past him into the play area. "Sean! Seanie! Mommy's back, can you please come out?!"
This is a FNAF fic, technically part of my Celestial Shift AU, but can be read as standalone.
Today is Vanessa's birthday, and Luis is taking her out to her favorite cafe to celebrate! But his supposedly thoughtful gift brings up painful memories. Can Vanessa trust Luis with the truth?
Basically, Lunessa fic where Vanessa freaks out, Luis tries to comfort her, and she finally tells him the details of the whole Glitchtrap situation.
Although Vanessa seems to like Luis, I don't think she would trust him with what happened right away, because she doesn't want him to send her to prison and/or the psych ward (he wouldn't, but she wouldn't take the chance). Before this, she would've let him know that she was partially responsible for the destruction after Gregory's visit, giving just enough details to help him keep her out of jail. Her finally telling him about the possession and the murders would be a huge sign of her trust, and also a huge step towards healing from her trauma.

As soon as she was outside, she ran to her car and locked the doors. She turned it on for the ac, but kept it in park. If she started driving right now, she might not make it home. She rested her head on the steering wheel and tried to steady her breathing.
He was gone, he was dead and gone, he couldn't hurt her anymore. But that's what the others had thought before, wasn't it? Before he had proved them wrong.
How many times had he told her that she would never be able to get rid of him? Was this the fulfillment of that promise?
A little while later, there was a knock on her window. Vanessa barely heard it at first, deafened by her screaming thoughts, but she slowly raised her head when she heard it a second time.
She was greeted by pleading brown eyes. Of course Luis had followed her. He was nothing if not persistent. After a few more deep breaths, she sighed and rolled the window down.
"What's up?" she mumbled.
"I was just about to ask you that. You had kind of a meltdown in there. Are you doing ok?"
"Oh, um… no, not really." Vanessa was surprised she let herself admit that. Hopefully, she wouldn't regret it.
"Sorry to hear that." He nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "Was it something I said, or…"
"It's complicated."
"…Yeah, I bet it is." He sounded flat, probably trying to hide how annoyed he was that she used this answer again. It was one of her favorites... "Is there anything I can do to make it less complicated?"
"I wish," she breathed.
Luis stood there for a moment.
"Ok, then. Let me know if that changes. Bye, Ness." He turned and started to leave.
"Wait!"
He paused.
"It wasn't you. I mean, it kind of was, in a way, but I don't think you meant to do anything…"
"I didn't! I promise I didn't mean to hurt you! I never have. Can you tell me what I did so I don't do it again?"
If she had been able to tell him the truth from the beginning, it could've saved lives. Now that she could speak, what was stopping her from telling him? Did it sound crazy? Yeah, but they've already been through crazy together, and he was still here, wasn't he?
Ah, I should've known you would be intrigued by that title lol.
❗️Spoiler warning for TADC Episode 8❗️
As you might have guessed from the above warning, The King and the Prince is a TADC fanfic. I don't think you're a TADC fan, so here's some basic background info on the show:
The Amazing Digital Circus (TADC) is a show about a group of people trapped in a virtual reality simulation. The AI in charge of the digital circus, Caine, creates games called "adventures" to entertain them, but his efforts usually push them farther toward insanity. When a human in the circus loses their mind, they "abstract," which turns them into a giant, glitching beast, and they are locked in the cellar to avoid harming the other circus members. This is the equivalent of death in the circus.
Many humans have spent time in the circus, but the most important ones for this fic are Kinger and Queenie. Kinger was main developer for Caine, and is a friend/father figure to many of the younger circus members. His circus avatar is a white king chess piece. Queenie is Kinger's wife (and theorized but not confirmed co-worker), and while we don't know as much about her, we do know that she loved entomology. Her avatar is a black queen chess piece. I also might add Ragatha, who improved Kinger's outlook on life after Queenie abstracted, at the very end, but I'm still deciding. Her avatar is a ragdoll.
This fic is sort of a character study of Kinger and Caine, focusing on their relationship in the time between Queenie's abstraction and Ragatha's arrival. We know almost nothing about what happened during this time, except that Kinger became severely depressed due to the death of his wife (and the deaths of all the other humans from the first wave, but she was the newest and most painful loss).
Caine and Kinger's relationship is a bit... rocky, due to the harm that they have caused each other, but it is shown that they both still care about the other in some way. Although there are multiple ways to view their relationship, I like to see them as something like an estranged father and son, which is why Caine is referred to as a prince in the title.
The planned fic will be two chapters, one from Caine's POV and one from Kinger's. They are my two favorite characters in the show, so it was inevitable that I would write something featuring at least one of them at some point.
The beginning of Caine's POV is below the cut.
***
Despite Caine's best efforts, all of the other humans had abstracted. Everyone was gone.
Except, of course, him.
His creator. His captor turned captive. The chess piece once known as Grant Turner, the man now known as Kinger.
Why, of all people, was he still around? What did he have that all the others didn't? At first, Caine assumed that he had stayed stimulated by consistently participating in adventures, but that did not save the others. After that, he thought perhaps his bond with Queenie had helped to keep both of their minds stable, but she had been gone for quite some time.
Sometimes, Caine dared to believe that perhaps Kinger enjoyed being here with him. Maybe he was the only one who truly appreciated the care taken in creating the adventures, each detail meticulously placed, each NPC designed for maximum interactivity. Maybe Caine had finally made something worthy of his creator's praise.
But he would be foolish to assume something like that.
I've seen this game floating around, and it seemed fun, so I thought I'd give it a try! While I haven't been directly tagged in this game yet, the first post I saw with open tags was from @kanerallels.
RULES: make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous, and tag as many people as you have WIPs. People send an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and you post a snippet or tell them something about it.

Edit: After wips are asked about, I will be adding links to their answers to this list.
Anyone have fic recs for TADC Thought Bubble Theory where Caine loses access to Bubble, but then forgets and says some out-of-pocket stuff? For example, the cast doesn't like the newest adventure, and he swears or says something suicidal, and then he's horrified to realize those words came from his own mouth instead of his quirky little puppet. Something like that.
Any word count, completed or wip, and any rating below E. The reason why he lost Bubble doesn't matter, and AUs are fine. I'm pretty picky about ships if it's a romance-centric fic, but most background ships are fine.
