So let's get this straight: A city where residents pay taxes & residents pay companies for service bit the comapny doesn't owe residents anything? During an unprecedented winter storm? Where they have no power & no heat? They're not asking for anything unreasonable. They're asking for electricity so that they can heat their homes & cook meals.
Do you ever wonder how many of your Mayors, Governors, and Representatives feel the same way but have just never said it so daringly on a public platform? Listen, Texas accounts for 41% of the US oil production, close to 30% of wind powered electricity, and produces more energy than any other state. Texas is also the only state in the country where the electrical grid is completely deregulated. It is understandable that the power grid would experience issues in this type of unusual weather but what isn't acceptable is the lack of response to the problem or assistance for the community.
Trae Tha Truth mobilized, as he does throughout the year when Texas is in crisis, & it's always amazing to see how his team comes through for the community. Do you have something like a Community Disaster Fund set up in your community? 2020 & beyond is showing us the importance of being prepared for the unimaginable. Since it's clear our local, state, & federal government doesn't want the responsibility of caring for citizens, it's time to do it for ourselves. Let's organize!
