I kind of love how HRT works on the "bits." Its surprising how much it can help with bottom dysphoria for some people, especially gender non conforming people, in both directions. Because, when you go through both puberties you get a big ol' clit or a little dick, whichever you feel is more apt to describe your anatomy.

Yesterday a friend told me about one of their friends who wants to transition to a man. This person hasn't transitioned yet because they are afraid to lose their community because they will be pushed out of lesbian spaces. Being lesbian has been such a huge part of their identity for a long time in their life and they see how trans men get treated as gross or "mutilated women" and I don't think some of you think about this enough. I know multiple people who are afraid to transition or have detransitioned because of loss of community for transitioning or blatant transphobia and I just really think some of you need to sit with and understand how much grief it might be to go through that... To have found yourself once and to have a community that's such a big part of your life yet still feeling like you don't quite fit and grieving that you either have to hide who you are again or lose your community again.

If your reading this and this is the first time you are understanding the grief that transmen go through then I have news for you .... You don't know enough or talk to enough trans men in your life and you should probably fix that. And while this post is mainly focused on trans men the same can be said that there is grief that trans women go through and you should get familiar with it.

As a butch lesbian I will always talk about the struggles of trans men and trans women... The battle that butches face is so deeply intertwined in the trans community that even if I wasn't a transmasc nonbinary person it would still be a disservice to my community to not speak on these issues. You really need to wrap your heads around the fact that gender essentialism harms us all. The day I decide to stop fighting for trans people is the day I will no longer be worthy of the butch identity; I'd rather die than abandon my trans siblings.

At some point I will write about the overlaps between butches and trans people but that is for a later date. The point is some of you need to look inside yourselves and recognize that you may be harboring bigotry and creating spaces in our community that makes it unsafe for trans people to come out. No one should lose their community and friendships for transitioning

Just a friendly reminder that just because you experience oppression or marginalization in one way doesn't mean you can't be bigoted. Anyone is capable of being racist, ableist, mysogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, colorist, classist, etc. everyone is human first and foremost and it's important to remember that humans are capable of both good and bad things. It's important that if you care about people and don't want to hurt other people you get comfortable with being called out and addressing your own bigotry and discomforts. Often the more uncomfortable you feel about something the more you need to lean into understanding it else you let fear win and don't grow. You don't have to be a bigot but is absolutely a choice that often comes from not allowing yourself to experience discomfort.
