From Hana no Mizo Shiru
I really really really need to get my muse going again. Especially because I love Jack so much;;; uugghhhh! What to do, what to do!!
“Well…I’m not sure about Cinnabar, but I do know that there are scientists down in Ambrette Town that do resurrect fossils. I’m not sure if they’ll take requests from just anyone, though…” She smiled, watching Jack admire the fossil. “Buuuut…I am the region professor after all…And the labs do help fund a lot of their work…”
“.....!!!” He looked back up at her with wonderment in his hues, as if she was Arceus herself before he shoved the fossil towards her, practically throwing it at her chest. “D-Do you think--!!” He couldn’t even finish due to his excitement. He practically bounced like a child, wanting her to say yes so badly even though he had no idea where or how far this Ambrette Town was in the Kalos region. All he knew was that there was a chance that he could see a real ancient Pokemon that lived long ago.
"Professor Pine! I have a question for you, if you could indulge me! I found this odd Fossil while I was visiting your region and I tried to research it. It seems to be called a Sail Fossil? I was wondering if you could tell me more about it!"
“…Oh? A Sail Fossil..? Well, consider yourself lucky then..! Fossils are a tad hard to find. Not impossible, but not easy…Anyways, the Sail Fossil is the remains of the sails of the Ice and Rock typed Amaura, which evolves into Aurorus. Both of which are beautiful pokemon, though be careful of their crystals. You can get a nasty frostbite if you’re not careful…”
“Wow... I wonder... If I took it to Cinnabar... Could I resurrect it? I’ve heard of special Scientists who could do that. I’d love to see one in person, if I could.” He mumbled, his fingers gently running along the fossil, admiring it carefully as he looked at it with wonder.
Waterlogged || [ Jack and Vivian ]
Above Vivian, the sky had rumbled endlessly for hours. He didn’t bother to look up and confirm what was going on; the dull, barely present shadow of his own body gave it all away. It was going to rain soon. The day had been humid and warm. In some places, the air had crackled with overhead lightning.
“Looks like we’ll get to cool off soon,” a small grin appeared on his face as the accompanying Milotic gave a small noise, excited at the prospect of rain.
He sighed. This kind of weather was to be expected around Pastoria City, surrounded by water. It was a precise reason as to why he typically avoided coming here but when his father’s odd jobs and errands called, there was really no room to decline. This time, he had to make sure an envelope got to someone safely, something to do with a new building being put in. He wondered why it was always him to had to go do it, but then again, his only parent was constantly busy discussing one new project or another.
It was late in the afternoon when he’d finally reached the city, nose scrunching at the stink of the Great Marsh. He pondered why, as a little kid, he’d loved going there and getting covered in dark mud. Caught up in nostalgia, Vivian failed to realise it’d begun to rain. Light, at first; a smattering on his face, soon becoming a downpour. It was an enjoyment for a few minutes, until he remembered an “Extremely important envelope”, as his father described, was most likely soaked in his backpack.
As he panicked, Vivian went to hurry to the closest store with a shelter, expertly swinging his bag off his back. He nearly damaged the zips as he frantically opened it, digging around. Once located, Vivian pulled out the folder with relief, only to see in horror that it was soggy and slightly warm.
“Oh, fuck!” He swore loudly, looking over to his Milotic, whose head was turned to peer at something else. At the other end of the store’s roof was someone who’d also obviously come to escape the rain, staring right at him with a bewildered expression.
« ✦ — He stared at the male across from him; a bit wide eyed and surprised since the stranger burst out in profanity out of nowhere after only seconds of stepping underneath the shade of the simplistic flower shop. He blinked, seeing that the male took notice of him only after his Milotic peered cautiously at the professor who was just as soaked from the rain. It was awkward for a few moments, them both looking at each other, one looking pissed off and the other looking confused and a bit bewildered until he finally gave an awkward wave toward the angry one in hopes of clearing up any tension.
“Ehh.. hehehe... sure is wet, huh?” He finally spoke, seeing as there was a chance to the two would be under that shelter for quite some time. He ringed out the bottom of his lab coat, attempting to dry out his clothes quickly. He looked up, watching the rain pummel the floor in heavy drops and filling the puddles around the city that began to dry up prior to the storm. He listened intently, finding comfort in the sound. He wasn’t use to rain and didn’t expect the downpour since he rarely stepped foot in Sinnoh-- let alone Pastoria. He didn’t know what to expect and to be honest, he got lost on the way to the City due to his poor sense of direction. The marsh lands were vast and he was covered in mud up to his knees from trekking through the swamp area until he finally stumbled back into civilization. Even Catty, his Caterpie, was happy to be out of the marsh lands despite loving nature and the outside. The thought of Jack tripping and falling into a pile of mud didn’t please the bug type for he was small and could easily be sucked into the mud if not careful. The Caterpie felt it to be safer on Jack’s shoulders through the whole trip. Catty looked at the Milotic and then back at the boy too, curiousness crossing the bug’s features as Jack continued to sadly attempt small chatter. Even if the stranger seemed uninterested. “....Er... Do you know when the rain is gonna stop...?” He finally asked, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. — ✦ »

How many pins would a Chespin pin if a Chespin could pin pins?
“Oh! Is this one of those tongue twisters!? I love those!” He beamed happily, “Uhh… Let’s see. I’ll try…..uhh… How many pins could a Chespin pin pin if a Chespin could pinn– peen?” He blinked, seeming to have trouble saying the words so quickly despite feeling like he had said the sentence correctly. He looked confused, thinking about it for a moment before rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. “Hehehe…oops?”
Voices II Jack&Fuyuko
A small laugh left Fuyuko’s lips. “More like I know of Professor Pine,” she replied. “I haven’t had the chance to meet her officially, seeing as she took over for Sycamore long after I started my journey. I hear she’s quite the woman, though. It would be nice to meet her.” It really had been too long since she had been to the labs in Lumiose. Perhaps that could be something to do the next time she had a short vacation, or even a long weekend off.
She watched in interest as the Professor flipped through the notebook. Her respect for the man only grew as it became obvious that he knew exactly what he was looking for and where it was. Xerneas knows she was horrible at organization, so to see someone who wasn’t…it was different. And nice.
She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear as she observed the page. “I see,” she mused. “It’s definitely reason enough to come looking. But the mines… It’s dangerous to go through them without a map or knowing your way around them.” She pursed her lips in thought before offering, “I could escort you through them, if you would like? I’d prefer to make a detour back to the Gym to pick up my Absol and Mawile—I don’t like traversing the mines without them—but if that’s alright with you…?”
« ✦ — He was surprised. He didn’t think that she was the type to go exploring through the mines and actually seek out adventure. He was grateful, however, and was happy that she was willing to assist him through the area since he didn’t have any idea where he was going. Kalos was such a large unknown place to him so having the help was almost heaven sent in his eyes. It was typical for him to get lost. ”You know how to navigate the mines??” He gasped, eyes wide though he couldn’t help but not show the utter excitement on his features. He promptly closed the notebook, fixing the falling out pages before stuffing the mess of papers back into his side bag once she was done observing his work. “That would be so helpful and I wouldn’t mind stopping by your Gym to get your Pokemon either.” He explained while the tone of his voice couldn’t help but not conceal the elation from the enthusiasm at the thought. So, she was a Gym Leader too! What couldn’t this girl do?! She was like a walking ray of sunshine that beamed talent. If she said she was a model too, he’d believe it in a heartbeat. He had to admit, he was getting more and more smitten by her. He figured he’d like to see her gym too and even take a side detour through the town too. He never got a chance to really enjoy Kalos and explore its fine towns and culture since he had been so wrapped up in his research. He had been feeling that he could be onto a scientific breakthrough at any moment so he hadn’t had the chance to really stop and rest. Perhaps this was all a contingency in disguise. ”You’re such a big help. I truly appreciate you taking the time to do this for me, Miss. Fuyuko. You really don’t have to do all this for a stranger.” He explained quickly, showing his gratitude the best he could. “If you ever need to back out or say you can’t at any moment, I’ll understand! Especially since you’re a gym leader and have your own agenda. I’m sure you’re busy as it is.” — ✦ »
Contest Thief || Akihiko and Prof. Willow
As the Professor caught his breath, Aki took the time to throw his hair up into a ponytail. It would be much more practical right now, rather than letting it slide freely into his face like he usually did. Besides, although he may have been in adequate shape, not even he could stand to run for long periods of time with sweaty hair coating the nape of his neck.
"Then the question there would be whether we should go to her hotel or try to guess where she would go next…" Aki mused, hands on his hips. He didn’t know what he thought about that second option. "If it was a quick getaway, maybe she might’ve left some clues in her room…" He shook his head in answer to the Professor’s question. "Very little. We congratulated each other between matches, complimented the Pokemon, shared some banter before our final match…general things that don’t really tell you anything about the person. I’m sorry I can’t be much help there."
« ✦ — “Then it sounds like the best course of action would be to go to the hotel and see if there are clues or if she’s even there.” He replied, looking toward the direction of the hotel where many of the contestants were staying at while the contest was going live. He frowned, knowing this all was a huge predicament, as though something deeper was going on than just an overly zealous female believing the trophy truly belonged to her despite the fact that this male had won the prize fair and square. His frown deepened. “I don’t know why Miss. Luna would just snap like that. Every time I talked to her, she was always so sweet and chatty. She always had something to talk about and everyone loved her. I know the media sure did too... I just never thought of her as some psycho.” He explained as he began to walk, his eyes on the sidewalk while choosing that it was best to start the trek over to the hotel now instead of just standing around in mindless banter. He had to admit that felt a little downtrodden. She was so beautiful and kind. He had to admit he had a little crush on her... Especially when she immediately knew who he was. It all just seemed so sad. What existence was she living to make her think she had to go through such lengths now? — ✦ »

To bake a pretty cake ll Jack & Nat
Nat laughed at their expressions at the suggestion of a bath, and crouched lower with arms spread, putting the bag on the ground for the moment. “Oh, come here, Angel,” Nat cooed, and the Eevee shook her fur - flour flew everywhere, not that it really made a difference in the already messy room - before leaping into Nat’s open arms with a pitiful pleading whine, her brown eyes wide and almost teary already.
Wondering if the little fluffball had somehow learned Fake Tears, Nat sighed and soothed her with a pat on the head. “You silly little baby, you live with water types,” she murmured good naturally, combing through Angel’s fur with her fingers as she waited for Jack to get his voice back. Really, he was a pitiful excuse of a liar, and should’ve learned by now that she had long since been able to see through all those flimsy acts of his. “You get soaked every day during practice, don’t you?” Nat continued to the Eevee, who pouted and squirmed.
"Vui," she huffed, and sneezed. White powder poofed up around her muzzle, and Nat found herself now lightly dusted in it, too. Not nearly as much as the two guiltier parties, though.
When Jack finally found his excuse and the courage to look back at her, she raised an eyebrow at his shaky response. Judging from the flour, he’d been making something… Which he confirmed after a couple tense moments. “Your mom,” Nat echoed suspiciously. “A cake.” She stared at him, unblinking, before letting it slide with a smile; let him keep his little secret if he wanted, she’d find out sooner or later. Probably sooner. “I thought this lab was important to you, Jack! And now you risk burning it down?”

Especially when she was giving that look like everything he was saying was a lie. He could say the sky was blue and if she gave him that look, he would surely feel like he made the whole thing up.
