Still better than some of the reason’s then I’ve been getting rented. None for getting laid or the epic side of me. No they want to kick my ass more privately and just have me so sore and bruised that its fun being returned.

“You don’t think that’s happened to me?” But he frowns a little, not liking to hear that the female has been put through that. Jeno is a dominant by nature but he would never be so cruel. “For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t treat you that way if I were one of them.”

“I was not sent back, Mr. Payne. Mistress Kane was murdered by criminals when King Hallron arrived. She was crucified like Saint Peter and beheaded.” {Ethan left out the part where he had caught up with each of the criminals that had done this to his mistress. He found each of them in the Arena and summarily slaughtered them like the animals they were. He would not ask how Jeno found his way here… he had heard the story and he empathized with the boy. He was also proud of the other, knowing that he knew this was his place and knowing he was doing what was needed to survive.}

The words slowly sink in and Jeno looks over at Ethan, brows knit. “I had no idea. I’m sorry...” But it makes sense now why the guy is in here. The mistress wouldn’t have sent him back. His eyes return to the ceiling, the feeling of betrayal still blaring inside him. “Do you ever question yourself on why you’re so loyal to this city?”, he asks quietly. “Or wonder what the benefit is of staying loyal?” His eyes darken just a little, still focused on the stone ceiling above them. “Is there even any benefit? If we’re just lumped together with those who don’t even know what loyalty is?” The man on the other cot is possibly the only one he knows of who could potentially be more loyal than the untriggered wolf, yet still he was made to fight for his life and prove loyalty. “Do you not hold it against them for overlooking how everything you’ve always done has been for them and this city?”

The softest of giggle fell from her lips as feathery kisses were bestowed upon her cheekbone. If he had not been unwell, she would have thought herself to be the one in need of comforting and care. And yet, while sex was neither truly upon her mind, the sight of him and his bare body was delightful. How pleased she was that he let her hold his hand and held hers back.

The bath in her guest bedrooms were much smaller than the one in her own, and yet the proximity would not be unwelcomed. She smiled. “It shall be my utmost pleasure to bathe with you Jenő.” she kenned by his scent that he had showered, and yet, she too wanted to be at his side.

She undressed and when he had done so too, she was careful to let him sit first to ensure that he would not hurt himself in his fatigue. Then she joined, leaning her shoulder on his chest as she nuzzled the underside of his chin.

He half expects to be taking a bath by himself, unsure how she feels about getting in with him when he doesn’t feel well. But she smiles and her words of accepting his offer to join him ring through him, actually making him smile legitimately at her in return. 

Undressing just as she does, he’s not shy in eyeing up the female he’s had the pleasure in exploring once before. This time, it’s nothing more than admiring her flawless body, and soon he’s easing himself into the bath and down into the hot water. He groans softly as he relaxes back and once she’s in with him, an arm goes around her, enjoying the nuzzle and softly returning it back, lips kissing into her hair and finding the warm skin of her forehead.

“I was worried about you,” he admits, green eyes looking down at her as arms guide her gently to lay on him more. “They told us about those of you back here with your collars, but I can tell the one under your care came through on what he was supposed to do.” It makes him respect the guy on how he took to keep her free from the toxins. Maybe if he had a mistress his choices would have affected, Jeno would have been better motivated to follow through and continue to make the King and Alpha proud, but it’s just him. Even still, relaxed there under her, he feels wronged.

A smile came upon her lips as his response was filled with playfulness, thus she kenned that while unwell, his spirit had not been defeated. Her hands would not go further than his waist, only resting, not holding for he was free to move as he please.

She pulled away ever so slightly to let him turn.Her head and gaze rising to look at him. He took her in his embrace and the hair upon his chest tingled pleasantly at her cheek. When her suggestion was approved, she once more gazed up to him. “Then it shall be done.” she responded as her hands brushed his stomach. The gesture was not meant in a sexual manner, but a comforting one.

She took his hand and guided him through her house until she had reach the unoccupied guest bedroom for the other belonged to Janathan as neither was seen as a slave within her company. “Would you care for a shower, bath and new clothes. Or would you prefer I leave you be?”

He smiles down at her as she looks up at him, and had he not been sick, he would have kissed her then. Even with it being more of a personal sickness, due to his unfinished task, he still can’t bring himself to do so. Instead, he places a trail of a few kisses across her cheekbone. The touch on his stomach is taken as comforting and yet it still comes with its enticing, but not to the point that has him acting on it. He holds her hand as she leads him through, stepping into his room.

He almost declines the offer of a shower, as he had one at the Chateau, but a bath.... The very idea of just relaxing in hot water is one he can’t turn down. “A bath would be amazing, but no, either way you don’t have to leave me alone. If I’m honest, I wouldn’t even be against you joining me.” Yes, he’s sick, and sex isn’t a guarantee, but it doesn’t mean he would pass up on some intimate down time with her. “Or if you don’t want to get in, your company is still appreciated.”

“Rationing cells for the ones that might still die. That is what my cell is being used for.” {Ethan had a keen memory… he’d been a slave for forty one years and spent nearly twenty two of them on the West side of Covaire. He knew of the boy and his situation. His dedication and loyalty was admirable . Ethan looked over to the other, his voice soft but firm.} “I remember you from years ago, Mr. Payne. I was the slave of Mistress Eliza Kane for twenty two years. If you would prefer quiet I will speak no more but I would like you to know that you are a welcome sight and welcome company.”

“I remember you,” he replies, he too now staring up at the ceiling. He recalls well. When he was younger, his parents did fairly well in shielding him from the things a child should never try to understand. Eliza was a good friend to his family, and his parents simply explained to him that the man was her boyfriend. As he got older though, and he learned the ways of Covaire, he knew it wasn’t the truth. He lays there in quiet, and while he does prefer quiet, this is the first time he’s really gotten to speak with the guy. “What happened, if you don’t mind me asking? Why were you sent back?” Some of it was curiosity about his old neighbor. And some of it was because he was still new at the slave thing. To see Ethan back here when the two of them had seemed so solid is rather surprising.

Galadrielle found herself busy and she keened she would be such for the weeks to come and yet, it brought her peacefulness to do so. She had been forced to make tremendous preparations for the potentially arrival of her guardian within the walls of the city. She silently entered her house and smiled as the scent of the ex-civilian came to her. “Luck favors you for if I had been Rosalita, entering her kitchen in such manner would have resulted in a wooden spoon upon your fingers.” she said softly, a mere pleasantry.

Then she came closer, pressing her cheek to his back. “You are unwell Jenő. Shall I show you where you shall be sleeping?”

Her silent entry has him oblivious to her presence in the house, though as soft as her voice is, it hardly startles him. For the first time in days, he legitimately smiles. It’s a small one but it’s not faked. “Rosalita adores me. She wouldn’t do that to me,” he replies back in a light tease. He finishes the water, placing it in the sink just as he feels the side of her face on his shirtless back, muscles shifting just so beneath it. She’s so warm.

After a moment of just taking it in, he nods, gesturing a look over his shoulder. He turns slowly, taking her into his arms, even if just to hold her close for a moment. “Yeah, please...”, he whispers into her hair, something about her calming him down.

{Ethan stood at the flank of the Guard who opened up the cell door and ushered him inside. The large mountain of human muscle stepped in nodding to the Guard as they closed the door. Ethan moved to the other cot, his wounds all stitched and fresh, he knew he probably smelled like antibiotics and wound salve to the wolf but it didn’t matter. He wasn’t poisoned. He’d saved all of his people and more. The man sat down on the cot before laying down and looking up to the ceiling.} “We are cell mates at least for a few hours, Mr. Payne. Forgive me if it is an inconvenience.”

Just the sounds of the cell door opening are on his nerves and he has to bite his tongue to keep himself from mouthing off to the guard. What he doesn’t realize is that another slave is being ushered into his cell. So he half expects for the guard to come in and rough him up over his attitude, but it never comes. The door is closed but a presence is still there. A big one at that. Even with his eyes closed, he can still see the shadow of the man. Eyes open once more as the guy speaks, a brow raising in disbelief. “Are you fucking serious?” Really, it wouldn’t have mattered if it was this guy or the hottest slave girl in the Chateau. Right now, he just isn’t into the idea of sharing his space. Explains the other cot he saw in there though. “I know we can’t be on a shortage. Plenty died out there.”

He could have been a little nicer to the chauffeur. It’s enough that he’s been in a bad, bitter mood since the start of the Arena, but being woken up from the first sleep he’s had in days in the midst of sickness doesn’t fair well at all. The whole ride to her home is spent curled up against the door, his head resting on the cooler window. Seeing Gale is the only reason he eventually accepted going with the guy, but part of him doesn’t want to see her. Or rather, he doesn’t want her to see him like this, and she deserves far better than to catch his bad mood. Escorted inside, he wanders about, finding the kitchen and searching until he finds a glass, filling it with water at the sink. As he drinks from it, he stands there,back against the edge of the counter, wondering where the mistress is.

The only outright compliance the ex-civilian gives from the time they’re taken from The Arena is taking the shower that is offered and being ushered back to his cell. He’s far from traumatized, even if having that damn anaconda on his lap had taken about 25 years off his life. He’d have to thank Castalia for that later. Right now, he’s annoyed. He’s pissed off and feels wronged, and for the time being he just doesn’t want to see anyone. On top of it all, he’s sick because he didn’t get through all of his saves, which was really more of his own doing. For as good as he’s always been, he’s in the mindset that would just get him in trouble. Laying there, starting to doze off in exhaustion and sickness, he hears someone in front of his cell, giving only a side glance but not seeing who it is. “Not right now.”

Castalia was not sure how she had managed to stay alive. Most of her saves though, if not all of them, had been human. Those that she actually saw that needed help. There had been some naive hope that perhaps they had done enough, that maybe just maybe it was over. There was no such luck. The bottom fell out over them, literally. Castalia was one of the many swept away by the current. She was an okay swimmer, but no one was prepared for this. One of the larger trees had been demolished, and whatever fates that existed saw to it that she be able to have a piece of it big enough for some support.

‘You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me–’

She turned her head to see the wolf. Cas tugged the concealed knife from her pants and levered it between two fingers before tossing it. There was a very good chance that she could hit Jenci, the bobbing, surrounding water took away the guarantee that she would hit the snake and not him. He was lucky, though. The blade pierced through the crown of the snake’s head, and almost instantly, the body loosened. “I expect my knife back.”

As the snake starts to slowly travel around him, Jeno is perfectly still. On the inside, however, his panicking. His mind is running so fast, trying to figure out how to get out of this one. He’s not dying like this, and not now. Not after surviving everything else. He can’t come up with a concrete idea, his best one being to slip out from under him, but the damn Anacondas could be quick and that would just encourage the snake to be faster about squeezing the life out of him.

He takes a breath and opens his eyes just in time to see the blade flying in toward him and sink into the head of the large reptile. “Son of a bitch...”, he says with a startle. All grips are eased though and after taking a moment of being in shock, he pulls the knife free and pushes the snake off of himself. He looks at the female, ultimately relieved, but for different reasons. Mostly relieved that she took care of the snake for him but also glad she didn’t get him too. “Thank you... for not castrating me...” He actually smiles, wiping the blade on his pants for her and then eases his way towards her on the rocking tree. “No but seriously... Thanks. I don’t know how else I would have gotten out of that.” Once close enough, he extends the knife toward her, offering it back.

Entangled || Open

The sudden waves were a rush beyond ever level imaginable. Jeno doesn’t have many saves under his belt. Five. Five saves. Half of what he needs to have. It’s enough though to keep from suffering from the poison, but being poison-free doesn’t save him from the wrath of the waves. He’s caught up in them before being plunged deep into the flood, colliding with others and being faced with the whales and sharks, but he doesn’t give up the fight before meeting the surface. He gasps for air, swimming for the first thing he can. Initially, he climbs onto a large piece of board that eventually leads him to stepping into a tree of branches. Jeno rests his soaked, sore body there in the support of limbs. “I’m so done with this shit...”, he says to himself, only to feel the weight of something across his lap. Green eyes slowly shift down to see the large head of an Anaconda starting to drag across him. “...You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me...” He sits as still as he can, trying not to panic and hoping the reptile will just move on like he’s part of the tree, but feels the thick body start to coil around him.

“Infection are still risk. And it was more of a favor,” The day a civilian like her could order someone else, it was the day she was going have kids, namely never. Pushing herself upwards, into a sitting position, she closed her eyes before he vision adjusted and she could focus better on the man near her. 

“…Jenci? Jenci Payne?”

“Well...” He looks around, shrugging and then looks back down at her. “I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do about that. I’m fresh out of antibiotics,” he says sarcastically before bringing himself to kneel down. “I could rub some dirt in it.” He only half smirks, recalling his father saying that to him whenever he fell down. Rub some dirt in it and walk it off.  He nods when she recognizes him, looking her in the eyes now that she’s sitting up. “Melanie.” They lived in the same neighborhood, both of them born and raised in the city, though Jeno a bit older. He wouldn’t normally be such a dick, especially toward someone he used to look out for, but his bad mood is flourishing but he tries to push it aside. None of what he’s been through is her fault. “Good to see you. Even in this.”

 “If you’re going to kill or save me, do it fast.” She call from the floor, smiling at the damned irony that after she completed her task, to get wounded like this. 

The burned flesh still ached in her thigh, cauterizing the wound shut being the best option to stop the cut done by a desperate slave. While her father taught her never to stop in the face of overwhelming odds, the blood loss was to quick as she stabled the spine of her attacker, immobilizing him. And by the fact he didn’t move to attack her back, she confirmed her at least was human.

The unclaimed slave has been without poison long enough to feel fairly strong, though his frustration about it all is still in tact. Two more saves, and each one gets a little more under his skin because it just means he’s playing the damn game the Alphas want him to. The only incentive to it all is that it keeps him from being injected with whatever fucked up poison they’ve been giving him.

Happening across the female he was once fellow civilians with, Jeno comes to a stop, a slight sarcastic laugh slipping out. “I don’t even want to take these orders from the Alphas. I’m not taking them from you. If I do anything, it’ll be on my own accord.” He glanced at the guy laying motionless on the ground not too far from her and then eyes the cauterized wound with a shrug. “Looks like you have handled anyway. Or am I wrong?”

Even The Loyal Are Punished

Oh hell no.

It’s the main thing that’s been in his head from the beginning.

Jeno hasn’t saved anyone yet and it’s exactly why he’s feeling weak now. With no saves, the poison isn’t any closer to stopping, but he’s mad. He’s still so pissed that he’s been thrown into this when he truly believed it was more than clear where his loyalties are. He’s not even whined once, hardly made a complaint besides having little rest, if any, between mistresses. Hell, he didn’t even rage when the rare master took him out for a night.

He’s been paying the price well for his parents’ foolish decision to turn against Covaire. His saving the masters’ son from death was one he made on his own, so now, being stuck in the Arena... forced to save people to supposedly prove where he stands... It pisses him off even more.

The human has been really careful though. Brought up in Covaire, he’s learned survival as a human among wolves and vampires. His goal is the beach, and he’s currently in the process of getting through the marsh. He’s stopped, taking in some water at the same time covering any exposed skin with a coat of mud. All the while he’s ignoring the female slave that’s stuck a little further out... or trying his best to. Green eyes keep drifting out to her, the trail of mud now up his neck and being applied to his face around his eyes, nose and mouth, looking much like a soldier in the middle of Vietnam. 

Finished, he watches her struggle, locks eyes with her that are frantically pleading with him to get her out. He’s unresponsive, but he sees something moving toward her in the thick water. An alligator. He’s lightheaded from the poison, which is part of what keeps him from moving, until the predator gets closer to the girl. With a slight groan at himself and his morality, he picks up a dead snake, no doubt one that was killed by another. It was disgusting but he there was no other way, holding onto one end as the rest was tossed her way. “Take it. Don’t pay attention to what it is. Just take it.” He’s not about to get out there and get stuck with her. “It’s your only option besides dying right now.”

The girl finally puts her disgust of the snake aside and grips her end, Jeno putting all he can into pulling her out, and fast enough so the gator doesn’t get a hold of her. He grasps her hand when he can reach it, pulling out the rest of the way and letting her roll along the surface, the gator losing interest and going a different direction. Breathing heavily, Jeno sits down and somewhat glares at her. “I don’t know how you managed that, but you’re lucky.” Lucky he was there and lucky he decided to save her. It kind of irritates him a little more, not having wanted to give in to this whole thing. Taking him a bit, he gets to his feet. “Try not to fall back in. I’m not coming back this way. You’ll do well to get to a different area.” It’s all the advice he gives before continuing on his journey, now slower, to the beach.

“Have you seen my face?! Of course they are!” Ben laughed with a wink. “Believe me darling, I’m sure the people in your stories sounds less desperate than in mine… then again… But come on darling!”

The guard had stopped at his loft first to make the dough since it would have to rest for 30 minutes before it was ready. He brought the boy along, to pick up all the ingredients at an organic market, then went back to finish their dinner. Even making french fries with it.

“Finally!” he said placing everything on the living room’s table. “So how about you tell me those stories, while we eat and play?”

The process it took of premaking food and going to the market gave Jeno a sense of normalcy. Then again, Ben was one of the few who didn’t treat him like a slave. Watching the wolf cook was impressive, the guy even more comfortable in the kitchen than his mother ever was. He sat down on the couch in front of the table, and he laughed at the suggestion. “I don’t even know where to start,” he said, picking up a fry and eating it. “Most are the same, really. A mistress acting like a mistress... until I somehow manage to twist it to where....” He trailed off with a soft clearing of his throat. “I’m telling you my secrets. You wouldn’t out me, would you?”, he teased.
