Iris had never mentioned Gage to Ethan before; there was really no reason to do so. Gage’s body was long cold in the ground by the time that Ethan came around. True, Ethan had been a big of an impulse but Iris was so very tired of living by herself. She’d given Ethan what had once been Gage’s old room, had replaced the furniture with something a bit more mature. It was simply furnished but she called for him more and more during the nights to keep her company and soon he would have no use for a bedroom of his own.

The vampire nearly arched away from her slave’s comforting embrace, nearly burned the whole bakery to the god damned ground. Delphie wouldn’t have known to approach it gently. His name still stung. Instead, though, she nuzzled into him to keep herself from inflicting some real damage on the tiny pastry chef. Iris managed to order through clenched teeth. She’d have to find a new bakery now. This one was too full of memories. Iris pressed the credit card into Ethan’s palm. “Just order whatever you’d like,” she said, leaving the bakery to stand outside, lighting a pastel cigarette with trembling hands.

{Ethan looked down at the card in his hand and watched as his Mistress twirled through his embrace and made her way to the street. The slave turned to the desk, his eyes locking on the woman as he stepped up to the counter. Slowly he leaned forward, his palms pressed flat to the counter top as he hummed his words through nearly clenched jaw.} “You have offended my Mistress. I am the Son of Covaire City, Woman. You think I did not know about Gage Von Mauer and Mistress Prosper’s connection? You think I did not know better than to speak of him? If I, a slave, can mind her will you should do your best to do so as well unless you would like to see that broken whelp of a boy much sooner than you thought you would.”

{Ethan turned on his heel and walked out in front of the shop and then to in front of his Mistress. He had spent weeks reading her... sort of developing the persona that he knew she wanted him to have. The metahuman reached out and took her firmly by the hip and pulled her tight to his musclebound form. His intense, focused and hard cinnamon gaze bore down on her indiscriminately. He grabbed her hand with the lit cigarette and put it out on his forearm without even flinching as he looked into her eyes.}

“The woman was dealt with, Mistress. Perhaps this is out of line for me to say but I know you would be much more displeased if I kept it to myself. Gage Von Mauer was broken before you ever lay eyes on him. Mistress Kane had rented him several times and if she hadn’t bid me otherwise I would have snapped his neck to save himself the trouble. His weakness was a stain upon this city and you are strong. Let that troubled child and all emotions attached to him lay cold and rotting beneath the earth where he deserves to be for such cowardice. I am yours now, Mistress. Should you call for me to bring you all three heads of Cerberus, I would do so. Call for the blood of your enemies and you will have it. Call for me to ravage your body until all of it’s weakness is shed and I will do it. Allow me to be your strength and assist you in putting the Ghost that haunts you to death.”

There’s a part of him that wants to snap at him. Tell him it’s none of his business. But for the most part, he just remains silent. The ocean has always been an outlet. If Calen thought he could swim out to sea and get away from this shitty town, he probably would have done that by now, too. “The sea isn’t so lonely.” He points out. “With it’s vast marine life and the numerous birds that flock here in the sands, it’s never truly alone.” He moves deeper into the water, his eyes locked on Ethan as he sinks down until the water is nearly at his neck. “Should I ask you the same? Why are you out here?”

“As you say.” {Ethan waded out a little further, matching the other’s depth and knew they would soon begin to tread water. His cinnamon hues looked out of the moon’s reflection on the sea and his soft yet firm tones drifted like a whisper against the sound of the Ocean.} “I’ve never been allowed to before. I suppose I’d never seen the ocean at night.”

He looked to the store window again and then shook his head.

“Neither do these clothes. I’m not used to picking my own.”

“Please forgive me if what I said was out of line, Alden.” {Ethan nodded to the other. Forty plus years and he’d never picked out a set of his own clothes. Mistress Kane had always bought his wardrobe and back in the factory there was a uniform for experiments. He reached out, strong fingers running over a black silk button up.} “Nor am I, My friend.”

Alden was honestly having trouble shopping for clothes, it was his first time. It was meant to be an easy task, he thought if he got to the centre of the city, he’d find the stores he wanted, but most did high end clothes, suits and such, and while he had a budget that would cover a suit, he was still looking for something more causal.

“I am well... I came out to think for a while. Mistress Prosper’s home is wonderful but there are times when only the Ocean can understand us.” {Ethan didn’t think he was known for his poetic thoughts but sometimes they came to surface. It seems he created a driven young woman out of you and that speaks greatly to the integrity of the man.”

He concealed his interest in the way she spoke and nodded gently... he was perhaps the only successful meta-human that was produced from the Factory so far and thus the first secret he must keep from this girl who was no longer a stranger was cataloged.} “Gratitude, Miss Amelia. My name is Ethan Wilde. What is it you find fascinating about surgery?”
