Had a dream I was watching this comedy movie from the '90s starring Jim Carrey. The main plot of the movie was was about main character Great-Grandfather who was apparently a great phantom thief, And his great-grandson is apparently a cop Who looked a lot alike him, found his great-grandfather's diary Read it and has been actively sleepwalking while committing the same crimes as his great-grandfather.
Due too many hijinks and The main character looking a lot like his great-grandfather the bumbling crew of cops and I think the main antagonist believes that the great phantom thief is immortal when The main character is just a goofy man.
The main love of interest is also cop detective or maybe just detective and she is probably the only woman I saw in the dream who wasn't dressed like a cop, It was a '90s movie dream so she was really gorgeous and I think the main antagonist who was a short man was always ogling her. Apparently she also looked like the main character's great-grandmother.
The antagonist from the get-go was a smaller man compared to all the other police officers in the movie, And it was very clear from the start that he was a pervert, And the only one trying keeping him in line was his partner who was very straight lace very professional man who throughout the movie was constantly moving the antagonist's face up, or hitting him in the face with some paper in a folder. At one point he poked both of The antagonist's eyes.
I unfortunately don't remember how the movie ended.
