Project Partners
Kim Namjoon had always been the quiet one in your studio classes. Tall, thoughtful, and perpetually nose deep in an art theory book like it was a shield. Even in Seoul University’s chaotic master’s program, he seemed to move through the world with a sort of careful softness.
Your friend groups rarely overlapped. Namjoon belonged to the outspoken crowd that debated art theory like it was a competitive sport, while you drifted with the quiet sketchbook clique. You knew him only in passing, the polite nod, the shy smile, the way he always held the door open a second longer than necessary.
Then Professor Kwon paired you together for the final project.
When she read your names, Namjoon’s pencil rolled right off the table. His cheeks pinked instantly, and he muttered a tiny, flustered “Hi” that barely counted as a word.
The early meetings were awkward in a strangely endearing way. He tried to let you choose every idea, apologized whenever he bumped the table, and blushed anytime your hands brushed while flipping through reference photos.
Still, he worked hard. He cared. And little by little, the awkwardness faded into something warmer.
One rainy night, when half the campus Wi-Fi died and the café was packed, you invited him to your apartment to finish sketches.
Namjoon stepped inside like he was entering sacred ground , careful, wide-eyed, and nervous in a way that made you smile.
“Relax,” you teased, handing him a warm mug. “It’s just my place.”
“Right,” he said, though he clearly didn’t relax even a little.
Hours later, the sketches were done but neither of you moved. The rain softened outside, your playlist hummed low, and the room felt smaller… closer.
“You know,” Namjoon said, voice barely above a whisper, “I never thought we’d actually talk.”
“Why not?”
He hesitated, fingers tracing the rim of his mug. “Because I’ve… had a thing. For you. For a while. And I didn’t want to make things weird.”
Your heart gave a warm, traitorous flutter. “Namjoon, you’re not making anything weird.”
His eyes lifted to yours, uncertain, hopeful, tender.
You reached for his hand, brushing your fingers across his knuckles. He froze, breath catching, as if the simple touch sent electricity through him.
“Is this okay?” you asked softly.
He nodded. “Yeah. More than okay.”
You moved closer, your thigh pressed lightly to his. His breath stuttered. When your hand cupped his cheek, he leaned into it instinctively, eyes fluttering shut.
“Can I…?” he started.
You didn’t let him finish.
You leaned in and kissed him.
It was slow at first, warm and tentative. Like he was afraid you might vanish if he moved too fast. But when you deepened the kiss, he responded instantly, his hand sliding to your waist and pulling you closer with surprising certainty.
A soft sound escaped his throat as you shifted closer, and his other hand came up to your back, holding you like he’d imagined this more times than he’d ever admit. His lips trailed from your mouth to your jaw, then the curve of your neck, each touch sending shivers that curled deliciously down your spine.
You climbed onto his lap and he inhaled sharply, fingers tightening at your hips as if grounding himself. His lips returned to yours hungrier, and the warmth between you grew thick and sweet, buzzing through the air.
Namjoon pulled you closer, his hands sliding up your back, slow and reverent, as though he was memorizing the shape of you through his fingertips. Every movement he made was careful and deliberate, but the tension beneath it was unmistakable. If was a wanting he couldn’t hide anymore.
“God,” he whispered against your mouth, voice breathless, “I never thought I’d get to feel this.”
You threaded your fingers through his hair, tugging just enough to make his breath catch. His hands settled at your waist, guiding you closer until your heartbeat pressed against his, quick and uneven.
Your lips met again, deeper this time. Not hesitant or questioning, but full of need. His hands roamed your sides, your back, your shoulders, each touch drawing you further into the heat building between you. His breath fanned against your neck as he kissed along your skin, slow and lingering, sending a shiver down your spine.
“Tell me if you want me to stop,” he murmured, his forehead resting against your collarbone, his hands stilling in a moment of restraint.
You tilted his chin up gently, meeting his gaze. “I don’t want you to stop.”
The look he gave you was equal parts relief and desire, it made your pulse skip. He kissed you again, deeper, his hands sliding under the hem of your shirt, fingertips brushing warm skin. The touch was light but intoxicating, sending a rush of heat through you.
You leaned into him, your bodies fitting together in a way that felt natural, inevitable.
Namjoon’s fingers explored the curve of your waist, tracing patterns that made you shiver. The air between you crackled with an electric charge, each breath heavier, each kiss more desperate. You could feel the heat radiating off him, pulling you closer as if you were two flames about to merge into one.
“Is this really happening?” he murmured against your lips, his voice thick with want. You could see the barely contained hunger in his eyes, and it only stoked the fire within you.
“More than ever,” you replied, your voice low and sultry, filled with an urgency that matched your racing heart. You pressed your body against his, feeling every hard contour of him, and he groaned softly, lost in the sensation.
With a sudden surge of boldness, you pulled his shirt over his head, exposing the muscles beneath. His breath hitched at the sight of you, his eyes darkening with desire. You traced your fingers over his chest, feeling the heat radiate beneath your touch, your heart racing at the thought of what was to come.
“God, you’re beautiful,” he murmured, his hands moving to cup your face as he captured your lips again, kissing you fiercely. You melted against him, every kiss igniting a fire that spread through you like wildfire.
You could feel the tension building, a sweet ache that demanded to be satisfied. With a teasing smile, you slid your hands down his sides, your fingers dancing along the waistband of his jeans. He inhaled sharply, his eyes flickering with a mix of surprise and anticipation.
“Are you sure?” he asked, the question heavy with meaning, his voice low and gravelly.
You nodded, biting your lip to suppress a grin. “I’ve never been more sure of anything.”
With a swift motion, you undid the button of his jeans, the sound echoing in the charged silence. He watched you intently, a mix of awe and desire swirling in his gaze. You pushed the denim down his hips, pausing only to admire the way he responded to your every movement—the way his breath quickened, the way his body tensed with anticipation.
“Damn,” he breathed, his eyes darkening as you slid your hands onto his thighs, feeling the muscle beneath your fingers. The heat between you was palpable, and it made you dizzy with longing.
“Let’s not waste any more time,” you whispered, leaning in to press your lips against his neck, trailing soft kisses along his neck and down his chest. His hands found your hair, fingers tangling in your locks as he tilted his head back, surrendering to the sensations you were creating.
“Just like that,” he encouraged, his voice a low growl that sent shivers down your spine. You could feel the tension building, the air thick with unspoken promises and carnal desires.
You pulled back slightly, looking into his eyes, and in that moment, the world around you faded away. All that mattered was the two of you, the heat, the longing, and the unquenchable desire that hung between your bodies.
With a gentle push, you guided him back against the couch, climbing on top of him, straddling his lap as you captured his lips again. The kiss deepened, becoming frantic, as if you were both trying to consume each other.
His hands roamed your body, exploring every curve as you ground against him, the friction sending waves of pleasure through you. You could feel him hardening beneath you, and it only fueled your desire.
“More,” you breathed against his mouth, urging him to take the lead. And he did, his hands gripping your hips as he thrust up against you, a low growl escaping his throat.
Together, you began a rhythm, a dance that felt primal and raw, each movement drawing you closer to the edge. The world outside faded away, leaving only the two of you, your bodies entwined in a haze of passion.
“Just like this,” he urged, his voice a whisper laced with need. “Don’t stop.”
With a newfound urgency, you quickened your pace, chasing that intoxicating high as pleasure coursed through you, threatening to consume you whole.
With breathy moans escaping your mouth you can feel Namjoon tightening his grip on your hips. He moves his hands from your hips to your face as he cups your cheeks and kisses you passionately as you both finish.
Breathless you collapse on top of him, only able to hear the light rain and Namjoons heavy breathing.
“Talk about a study break.” He said with a wide grin making you both laugh.
It’s getting late and the trains have stopped running so you invite Namjoon to stay the night. While laying in your bed cuddled up together you hear Namjoon begin to speak.
“We didn’t get very far on the project.” He says in a slightly serious tone but you can hear the sleepiness in his voice.
“We will worry about the project tomorrow.” You laugh as you lay your head on his chest and drift to sleep.
