“Wow! Thats some real dedication! I would of given up by now, not that I need the workout…” She flexed her arm to show off her muscles. She jumped into the seat next to him and held her hand out, grinning from ear to ear. “The names Flannery! I’m a gym leader in Hoenn! How long have you been training for?” She asked, leaning forward.

He was amused by the gym leaders enthusiasm. With that, he extended his arms to shook her hand gently. “Ah, Nice to meet’cha Flannery! Name’s Marshal.” He tapped his chin in thought. He was training for as long as he could remember. He took him a bit before he responded. “For a pretty long time. Started an exercise regiment when I was teenager. Ever since that day, I kept to it. Course it was hell the first few months since I was but a twig.” A small laugh escaped him as explained to the red head. He leaned back into his seat before continuing.

“Whoa…” She leaned over the seat and looked at his work out equipment, they looked… Heavy! “You do this every day? And your arms haven’t fallen off yet?!” She glanced at his arms. He could lift buildings! Or so it looked!

“If you were to ask me when I started this years back. I’d too be surprised that my arms haven’t fallen off.” He chuckled remembering how when he started, he never looked forward to the reps with how it left it arms. Not it was just second nature to his muscles. “But now, I am used to lifting these type of heavy weights.” He mused looking back at the woman.

“That should be sufficient for today’s workout.” While the average person would collapse at his extreme workout session. It was just a breeze for the Elite as he took a seat to relax himself.

✦ Has your own interpretation changed from when you first began playing the character?

I think it has changed quite a bit. Originally I remember exaggerating his training regime and his muscle brain attitude to the point that I felt that I was just playing a flat one dimensional character. Now I am trying to be more in tune with what I set out for him to hopefully make him feel like his three dimensional.

While this may come to a surprise to others. If he can help it, He would like to use his mind to break down and solve any situation ahead. When he was a young, arrogant, and brash teen. He would always tackle his situations by either facing them head-on or actively avoiding the situation entirely if he feels it doesn’t even deserve the time of day.  He will use his words to diffuse the situation and while he may be blunt with his choice of words, he ultimately believes in speaking genuinely and not being disingenuous about it either. At least that’s how he views it.

“So you’re not a total muscle-brain, alright. Then what’s the occasion?” Yes, it did feel odd, but then again she hardly knew this man personally.

“Yeah, though I am glad to be reassured you take things at face value.” While he wasn’t too bothered at the general assumption at this point, It left a lot to be desired regarding his impression towards the other. “The occasion is a small local tournament for the older crowd of trainers. We tend to have a small party and get together once after the competition dies down.” He explained.

“You make it sound like I solely focus on my training and not much else.” Was that odd that he was seen in a nice checkered shirt and jeans.
