I did some still life/drawing from life studies! Some turned out better than others. (Ironically, the first couple drawings were the best, I think)

A (bone) foot. Sketched in pencil then gone over with micron pen.

Some animal bones, same process as before. I assume they are two parts of the same creature but I don’t know.

Some shells. I briefly considered color, then immediately changed my mind.

I’m not totally happy with his expression, he was supposed to be more angry than scared, but now I know how to draw scared faces.

The eyes are so asymmetrical it hurts.

I’m working on my first Artfight attack and reached an absolute flow state on this sketch.

Now that Artfight starts tomorrow, I have no choice but to stop worrying about my character refs and just post them! ….yay….

It also means I’m going to actually post my OC’s, which is what I was supposed to do when I first made this account. Yay!

I impulsively joined Artfight with no preparation like a week and a half ago, so my refs are a bit rushed.

This is my frog cowboy from my post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy story. He’s the only one from his universe that made the cut! Yay Splot! (The others are too complicated for me to make in the limited time available (I’ve never drawn a full design for any of the others (it’s a problem)(I should do that))) This story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world with both modern-ish humans and fantasy creatures. Despite the two groups intense dislike, Splot still manages to get stuck babysitting a human girl trying to find her way home.

This is my scary antagonist but major character in my sci-fi, horror(?) project. It’s set in space (shocker) and takes place faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar in the future. He is a high-ish ranking member of intergalactic conquistadors. Because he’s from space (born and raised) he doesn’t have to deal with my convoluted messed up plans for Earth. Unlike….

… Samy! He is from Earth, but they don’t stay there too long! They’re my main protagonist, there are a couple others, but I haven’t fleshed out their storylines nearly as much as Samy’s. Also, as you may have guessed by the pronouns, they are transmasc. Samy is from a very futuristic Earth, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. (We’re going for realism in this aspect-the planets been through a lot is all I’ll say). After meeting an alien and accidentally committing treason, it’s off to space for him!

And finally, last but not least of the three from that project is our friendly neighborhood (intergalactic)….alien? Despite the frankly horrifying mouth situation this species has going on, Enlo is a very sweet, very friendly young lady. She’s a bit too optimistic and trusting, to the point that it can get her and the others in trouble sometimes, but she’s too cute for anyone to hold it against her! (You agree, right?) Enlo is a part of Samy’s weird little intergalactic crew, and is actually the one responsible for bringing them all together, not that everyone is necessarily happy about that.

Anyways, that’s everyone that will be on my Artfight page. There’s a small chance that I’ll make more character sheets and post them during Artfight, but don’t count on it.

I will definitely post character sheets for more characters eventually, though. It might just be after Artfight when I have more time.

I’m also going to post more art and lore of all the characters (so you may get introduced to others before I make their sheets)- but let me know which of these guys you really like and want to know more about, because I’m posting it all anyways, might as well post what people are interested in.

I am open to attacking anyone, but will probably largely stick to humanoids as that is what I am familiar with, I will friendly fire, I will revenge, and I will not mass attack.

My characters are human, anthro and alien.

An (extremely) rough animation!

Any advice is DEFINITELY appreciated, (especially if it has to do with making the beginning less choppy- I might need to remove some frames, but it makes me sad after all the work I put in.)

Took a walk today with a portable watercolor set to do some painting of nature.

And apparently the pond near my house has fish in it?!

It’s not very good, I had to paint standing up while holding the paper in my hands so there wasn’t much support there, and my painting hand kept shaking. I’m going to try again sometime, and maybe bring a smaller brush than the one the set came with.

Also the colors look kinda weird? I don’t think they looked like that when painting. I think it was all the color mixing caused them to dry into a different color. But 🤷

My original idea was to paint some of the birds around the pond, but they all flew away when I approached. Luckily, one of them decided I was nice and decided to take a chance on me and flew back right as I was finishing the fish.

He didn’t stick around long, but he didn’t need to! I still was able to paint him, and I didn’t need him there to do the background.

This one turned out much better than the last. I was sitting for this, and didn’t have to do as much mixing to get the color of the water (or I guess what I thought was the color of the water) so good news! I was right about what didn’t work when painting the fish!

Some experiments with hands! I ran out of ideas for natural hand poses so I just did the entire ASL alphabet!

These were done using tracing references online, lots of experimenting with different skin tones/undertones to make it look more realistic.

No reference for this one except occasional glances at my own hand, I think I may have added too many wrinkles in the palm and something feels off about the two fingers sticking up, but overall, it’s pretty good! ✌️
