Friday I was sitting at work trying to maintain a professional demeanor all the while screaming internally over all of the Bridgerton S4 content! Now it is time for me yell about these photos on the internet because no one in my real life wants to listen to me. Fair warning I’m mainly here for the Polin content. I am eager to meet Sophie but other than that I am really here this season for the subplots. I see a lot of people complaining about subplots and I get it. In s3 there were definitely some things I think could have been left on the cutting floor so we could have had more Polin. Or more Kanthony or Daphne or Edwina! There were far more insteresting subplots that could have been explored. In fairness though I’m not sure that I’ll ever get enough Polin. I do think as we go along and meet more characters and have more married couples, subplots are going to be more exciting. It’s great to see actors like Johnathan Bailey move on to bigger and better things, but hopefully like him they’ll at least make an appearance in the new seasons. I wonder how much longer he’ll be able to do that. Our girl Nicola is also booked and blessed so who knows how much of her we’ll get beyond this upcoming season. I’m very excited to see her in other things though. Big Mood s2! I can’t wait!
Of course I must start with the little Polin family pic! Oh my god! The way that I squealed when I saw this. I was not expecting to get a family pic so soon! If this is all that they would have given us I would have been a happy goose! The little baby is absolutely adorable. Colin and Penelope look so happy and beautiful. I love to see Violet and Hyacinth fawning over him. I guess that this season is really just going to pick up right where S3 left off. Colin has just published his book and is the now the official interim Lord Featherington. Penelope is writing as herself now.
Another mirror scene! Are you kidding me!? These two are going to be making out everywhere I just know it. Thank you Bridgerton creators for giving the people what they want! I want some Polin spice but I also just hope we get to see some casual intimacy. I’m so excited about happily married Polin.
Of course he’s her favorite son in law! I am so excited about this dynamic. I really really hope that we get to see a lot of Colin being a part of the Featherington household. My biggest dream is a Featherington spinoff. A show that focuses on Colin and Penelope navigating their new unexpected roles of being the heads of a household. Colin trying to find his place in this family. The three Featherington husbands teaming up and getting up to silly hyjinkx as they try to make their wives happy. The three of them are truly wife guys. They are my big three. Penelope and her sisters hopefully finding new ground and getting closer as sisters and new mothers. Portia and Violet as co-grandparents. It would be so fun. This photo is giving that energy.
Have you ever seen a more iconic and powerful duo in your entire life! Ok first let me just take a moment to appreciate blond pirate Penelope! Are you kidding me! I could not have asked for more. I really am so excited to see these two ladies just teaming up! Golda and Nicola have such a lovely relationship and I am so eager to see how that will translate to their characters. I really hope that they spend some time exploring the ramifications of Penelope being out as Lady Whisteldown. I imagine her relationship with the queen will be tricky. I imagine there will be others in the Ton who are not very happy with her. I kind of hope that we still have some Lady Whistledown drama (not too much) but in the end of course Penelope comes out ahead unlike in s2.
I am already loving this trio. These three have the potential to be so incredibly cunty! Sorry I don’t know how else to describe what I am hoping to get from them. Just some badass villainous fabulous women. Let women do bad things! This fandom does not have the best track record with that, but we shall see. I am fully here for them!
Also Katie Leung playing the mother! Are you kidding me! I feel ancient. I know at that time a woman in her late 30’s very likely would have had daughters out in society but this isn’t regency times ok and I just can’t believe she’s playing the mother of grown daughters. 😅 She looks amazing and I am so excited about her villain era.
A new perspective! How exciting to see a little more from the maids and staff. I am excited to see what the other half thinks of all these balls and parties. What do they think of the people that they work for? What are their lives like? I don’t see Rae in any of these photos and that’s kind of bumming me out. I want to see the queen of side eye back please!
Yes more of this please! I was so invested in this romance in s3 and I am so pleased to see that it will continue in s4. Violet deserves romance as well. I thought that she and and Lord Anderson had great chemistry. The scene where she was watching him eat the cake! lol I screamed it was great. It’ll be interesting to see if it changes how she approaches helping her children navigate their own romantic lives. I think especially when it comes to Eloise and Francesca she’s going to have some big feelings about their relationships. Maybe with a new perspective of her own she’ll be a little more hands off and let them do what they need to.
Why are is everyone not screaming about this! OMG Violet stunning gorgeous! If Lord Anderson wasn’t already in love with her after seeing her like this that man is going to be on his knees! Can I be real honest? In my opinion her look and mask is prettier than Sophies! Like WTH she looks amazing and I love this for her. A lot people had talked about wanting a Violet and Edmund spinoff and I want a Violet spinoff as well but I really want it to be this Violet. Not young Violet. It would be so nice to see an older woman with grown children and an ever increasing number of grandchildren navigate romance, sex and love. It would be awesome to see her interacting with Portia, maybe Lady Sharma and her new DILs. Just like let’s have more female bonding and interactions please.
Things we didn’t see that I hope we get:
I know it’s very early on but I just want to talk about my hopes for s4 and the future seasons of Bridgerton. Number 1 on that list, Michaela! I am so interested to see what kind of role she’ll play in this season and s5. It’s safe to say that Francesa’s season is the next season I am most excited about because we are actually getting a queer/sapphic storyline! Are you kidding me? As a queer woman I am beyond excited to see that! Speaking of queerness I hope that we get at least a little reference to Benedict’s queerness. Maybe he has some queer hookups before the masquerade ball. Idk. I hope that it’s not just forgotten. Of course him falling in love with a woman does not make him straight, he’ll always be queer. Ultimately I wish they would have just explored this part of him in earlier season so we could have gotten more of it. I just want a queer perspective in the show and Benedict would have been a great character to see going to Molly Houses’s and things like that. I am not going to complain better late than never. There are so many queer actors in the cast and so many queer fans. I’ll take any queer rep I can get. (Queer Bridgerton fans let’s be friends!) (how many times can I say queer?)
I also hope that we get to see Philip even if it’s just one scene. We need a reminder that he’s there and it would be so cute to see his and Colin’s friendship again. It would be so good to have a Daphne cameo. I don’t think that’s happening but damn where’s Daphne? I hope that we get to see more of Kanthony than last season and that we get to see Penelope and Kate interacting. I want to see them inducted into the married woman’s club that we saw in season 1. I want to see Penelope just thriving in the freedom that she now has a married woman. I hope that Eloise gets to take advantage of that as well. Since Peneloise is back together Penelope can act as her “chaperone” and they can get up to mischief. Ah so happy to see my girls back together!
