Why are non Kpop/Khiphop/Krock fans (mostly native English speakers) so offended/disturbed when they hear ‘random English words’ from Kpop/Khiphop/Krock songs? First off, pretty sure the words aren’t random. Most probably, the words are there because it sounded right or it rhymes better. And no, that doesn’t mean they see English as cooler or better (there are some tho, sad). Aside from the fact that they know they have English speaking listeners, I’d hazard and say that it’s a bilingual/multilingual thing and it doesn’t just exist on songs. It actually happens in real life.

Sometimes, meanings are better expressed in another language other than your own native one. In the same way, when you a non native speaks English, there are meanings that are better expressed in your own native language. Try listening in to their convos irl. You’ll get what I’m saying.

Plus, there’s nothing inherently wrong with it. Language is dynamic and it evolves as long as it is used. Do you honestly think the English language is pure and the same as it was before? It is chock-full of loan words from other languages, too. You’ll never complete your 2000 essay without using foreign language, albeit unintentionally. So why is it wrong for not just only Koreans but also other nationalities to use 'random English words’ in their songs?

Sorry for the rant. Sometimes, a lot of people forget that their country isn’t exactly the center of the universe.

That psychological and emotional health is as much of a priority as physical health and that support network such as therapists and psychiatrists are of easy access.
