Hawkins, Indiana - 1987

A year after the world divided due to Vecna opening his gates by the use of Chrissy Cunningham, Fred Benson, Tiffany Hughes (in replacement of Patrick), and Max Mayfield, people are still getting their bearings in surviving what is their new normal. In the days and weeks that followed the initial split, various noises sounded from the cracks - rumbles . . . screeches . . . Aftershocks plagued the town, causing failure of any sort of attempts to seal the cracks. It was clear that something nefarious was deep within these fissures. Something that made them seem alive. One month ago, something came out of the cracks. Rather, someone. Those that were thought to be lost to the Upside Down just before the split resurfaced - injured but alive. Vecna's first three victims and Eddie Munson were immediately taken into military custody, where they were given medical care and kept in lockdown to ensure that they weren't a threat. In this thirty day period, Max Mayfield woke up in Hawkins Memorial Hospital, where she was questioned by military personnel. Very recently, news of the survivors has been announced and they are currently set to be released to their loved ones. To those who fought Vecna and presume that he's dead, a suspicion lingers in the air that this isn't the end. That these cracks have opened a gateway between the mortal world and something much darker and more sinister. That this isn't over.

hi there anon! god, i love this question. my favorite recasting for murray is paul giamatti, but some other great options would be steve buscemi, luis guzmán, wallace shawn, benedict wong, john turturro, john c. reilly, michael emerson, or jermaine clement.

fun fact: did you know that sean astin originally auditioned for murray before he was cast as bob newby? i found that out in my research!

So to be clear, with the cracks, does that mean things like school and jobs and stuff are still functioning as usual despite them or have most things kinda come to a halt like in a traditional apocalyptic scenario?

hey, anon! fantastic question! i love this so much. allow me to yap for a moment and hope this makes sense:

for the first six months after the cracks formed, there was deep uncertainty. the military was quick to come in and set up their bases and "take care" of the residents that stayed behind, so there were financial relief checks, several resource centers and displacement shelters opened, and the rebuilding of homes that were destroyed (i.e. the trailer park).

in recent months though, the military has really tried to push this sense of normalcy. business have opened back up, school has resumed, but there's this lingering strangeness in the air. this normal is an uncanny valley sort of normal, this sort of government curated sense of normalcy. certain strict guidelines like a sunset curfew have lightened up to a normal town sort of curfew, but there are still strict rules like remaining within the town/within the perimeters the government has built and not trespassing on military property. it's normal . . . ish.

the normalcy may not last as the plot progresses though. us admin have a lot up our sleeves that might turn hawkins on its head in the weeks to come!

good, timezone! we're still waiting to get a few apps from characters available and wanting to be loved! however, i really want to reiterate / explain what we want to see in the bios! what we don't want: RECAPS OF THE PRIOR SEASONS. we know what happened, we saw it too, we understand what your character has been through already including the likes of season four. we don't need a reminder of that as we already have that characterization in mind! what we do want: a bio that incorporates the guiding questions and/or just what they're doing in OUR premise during this time. the military presence is heavy, but there is no lockdown as the fissures have cracked across the whole country-- maybe even the world. this is basically the beginning of the end! tell us what you're character is thinking, who they know, and whether they're doing things to help Hawkins OR the main core. but please do not meta, godmod other characters. you can say "yes they went to school together", "yes they're friends", but do not assume they were at every event that occurred for the party and co. a small example of something that is different in our premise is that a month prior to when we start, the dead from season 4 (vecna's gates, eddie) are back and max is awake, but all of them are in military custody. everyone would know max is awake, but not that the dead are back. if you have questions! please ask prior to applying and we'll be happy to help! - wiley !

hey there, anon! thanks for the ask and curiosity! unfortunately, no. we decided as a team prior to putting our plot together than anyone who died pre-season 4 would not be allowed in. their deaths are permanent. so the likes of billy, bob, heather, barb, etc... they will not be part of this plot. sorry for any disappointment! we have a ton of other characters still available though! lucas sinclair, tommy h, argyle, jeff, gareth, freak 1, and murray (non-gelman) or really anyone you can think of as these aren't all characters left open! originals too, that fit the plot! you can check our TAKEN list here. ♥️ - wiley !
