no offense but i do not have time for ppl that have no emotional depth and don’t even attempt to understand themselves or others
The whole fanfic vs published books thing is like, really weird (considering, yknow that a lot of fanfic would not exist without the books they are in response to?)
But its also really telling when someone is extremely vocal about fanfic being better because the way they talk about books is like they never bothered to read anything outside of their high-school curriculum. "There aren't any books that [describes a whole genre that exists and caters to that specific taste]!"
Literally its not a contest, there are bad books and bad fic, there are good books and good fiction, why would you pit two queens against each other
the cool thing about the iliad is that almost everyone in it is a horrible person and/or literal war criminal, so you get to judge characters EXCLUSIVELY by vibes. anyway i don’t blame paris for the trojan war but he IS a little shitheel and i want him out of my city
my favorite thing that hektor repeatedly tells paris is “thank god you’re pretty”

Went to a bookstore that had mini chandeliers as lights today and bought some Yates love poems

Narcissus, 1881, by Gyula Benczúr (1844-1920)
“I am he. I sense it and I am not deceived by my own image. I am burning with love for myself. I move and bear the flames. What shall I do? Surely not court and be courted? Why court then? What I want I have. My riches make me poor. O I wish I could leave my own body! Strange prayer for a lover, I desire what I love to be distant from me. Now sadness takes away my strength, not much time is left for me to live, and I am cut off in the prime of youth. Nor is dying painful to me, laying down my sadness in death. I wish that him I love might live on, but now we shall die united, two in one spirit.”
Ovid, Metamorphoses, book III 462-474
