what about a text conversation between a drunk flambae and robert BUT flambae thinks he is texting prism. flambae is texting about how he wants to marry robert and being gushy about it because he thinks he's texting prism, but robert is there reading these a little stunned and says he'll give an answer later. flambae wakes up, hungover, and has to deal with the consequences of his drunken actions lol

I’ve been thinking about how Flambae, who’s so used to receiving praise and attention for his appearance, pausing when Robert doesn’t seem to care about it.

He can’t recall a single time Robert even brought it up. If at all.

For exemple: Everytime he gets a haircut and needs a second opinion, he goes to Prism. She naturally teases him about changing something for Robert.

Like the time he stopped wearing his glasses for a week when Mecha Man called them lame. Or when he changed his cologne a few days after Robert started dispatching.

And he scoffs. Mostly just to chase the growing redness smiling across his cheekbones.

“For BOB-BOB? I could dye my hair fucking purple and he’d take 5 days to notice.”

But also:

Flambae knows he’s beautiful. He has his father’s eyes, and his mother’s nose, and his niece always says she loves smiling because it looks like his.

So no, he won’t lose sleep over one guy not thinking he’s pretty.

Mostly, because he also knows Robert doesn’t exactly sees worth in that.

Robert cares about efficient. He cares about consistency, about resistance. He cares about ‘does it get the job done?’

But. Robert does surprise him, sometimes.

Like when the rim of his coffee mug pauses when Flambae eats noodles in the break room, body leaning forward, sharp doe eyes suddenly alert.

“…Is that a new hair tie?”

Flambae pauses, cheeks puffy with pasta. “Yeah! How’d you know?”

“The last one was brighter. Like, clementine orange. This one’s like, carrot.”

“CARROT, Bob? Fine, I get it, you’re not a wordsmithsionian like me—“

he gets a Twinkie thrown at his face, which he resents a lot, but rolls his eyes about it. Voice falling in that natural softness whenever his niece is brought up.

“It snapped on the mission this morning! It was a gift from her, too! Fucking sucks, man.”

Robert hums.

At the very end of the day, when Flambae drives Robert and Beef home, Robert hands him a damn near identical hair tie.

Flambae BEAMS.

“You remembered!”

And Robert is so wholeheartedly confused. “Yeah. It’s important to you.”

Flambob and Robbae

I gotta draw this later, but I would genuinely love an AU where Robert’s a villain, and Flambae’s his husba— I mean!! His henchman!

Solely because? They genuinely ARE a powerful duo, sure, but the public loves them more than ACTUAL heroes.

Flambae? Can and will stop mid-fight just to talk to people HE saved while Robert handles a ‘hero’ , who put them in danger.

“Oh, your car won’t start? Yeah, been there. BOSS!” Yelling at the giant robot like they’ve been married 50 years. “GET YOUR ASS HERE AND HELP THESE PEOPLE! He’s so good at fixing shit.”

Mecha Man, who’s very much supposed to be in the middle of his monologue right now, tells the hero he’s fighting to wait.

“Look, you already torn his costume, and we had to cancel our dinner reservation. He’s already in a pissy mood. I’m not sleeping on the couch tonight.”

And this doesn’t exactly resemble what Robert pictured when he went ‘defective’, as the tabloids said.

He didn’t expect to save more people than both former Mecha Men combined.

He didn’t expect to pose for selfies while Flambae beams into the camera, holding his jaw gently, while Robert tries not to grin too hard. Because of course this sunstorm of a man would.

And when they successfully help people, because that’s what Flambae always wanted to do, at his very core, and his teeth flash when he smiles at Robert, saying,

“Sorry, boss. But you’re pretty great at the good guy thing.”

Robert doesn’t expect to believe it.

The problem is that he really, really does.

I fell down the Dispatch Rabbit hole, and Flambert is officially my favourite ship. If Dispatch ever gets a Season 2, Flambae better be a romance option.
