A vibrant market that has layers of Mughal, Colonial and modern architecture.

Red Fort, a mughal fort complex in red sandstone showcasing Indo-Islamic architecture. Old havelis adorned with beautiful intricate patterns and colours, the area tell the stories of centuries gone by.

The 2021 pedestrianization and streetscape redesign project introduced stone paving, uniform shopfronts, improved lighting and movement. Making it more than just a congested market.

The Hall of Nations

I never got a chance to see the Hall of Nations in person but I truely wish that I could. As an architect I have only known this place from the perspective of academics.

It was a fine example of architecture and engineering. Largest space frame structure in the world constructed on site in reinforced concrete which is almost impossible to do now. In today's time something like this would only be done in steel and most probably pre-assembled in factories.

Designed by architect Raj Rewal and structural engineer Mahendra Raj. It had an identity that represents Indian modernity though materials and traditional geometric patterns.
