I had this AU in mind where Garou is a samurai that goes off to fight for like a year or more and then finally comes home and Eiko greets him at the gate =^.^= So I decided to draw it! Full disclaimer, I did not draw the background - I found it on Google Images!

Thinking of who a child's first heroes are, this scene hits differently.

The heroes who ignored Garou's pain are none other than... the ones who refused to even acknowledge their son when he was in custody, much less get him.

Bullying is one thing, but the lack of care and support from his parents really did a number on the way Garou sees the world, and what should have been an unpleasant thing in the past became the nucleus of something that poisoned both the way he saw himself and the world (literally, in the end). He's drawn older than he is, but Garou is a kid trying to make sense of what's wrong with him that the people he loves and desperately wants to admire reject him so.

No matter what happens next in his story, I think this next phase of his life will see Garou unraveling that tangled ball of his that has conflated parents, heroes, heroic representations in the media and himself into one ball of pain. Good. He can't fix his parents, but cruel shadow they've cast over his life, he can learn how to step out from that.

Nothing's wrong with you, Garou. Just do things that are true and good.

one: they're kinda friends? more like acquantainces that live together? genos is saitama's disciple and saitama actually has nothing to teach him, so that's about it.

murata: they live together. they sleep in the same room, basically side by side, and if asked, they'd probably tell you it's because there's no more space. saitama bought genos an apron in discount and it's pink and frilly and genos wears it every time he does chores at home. did you know genos' favorite food are oiled sardines? well saitama buys them whenever they're on sale, even if they're eating out with their friends. when genos cooks, he likes to make the food look like saitama. also, saitama makes the effort to tell genos 'life lessons' even if they're not that great. genos is saitama's best friend and vice versa, they're most likely the most important person in the other's life. i just think they're neat.
