Jedediah felt an overwhelming amount of lackluster in the others voice, so much so he couldn’t help but be in awe.
“Depends, is fast food good enough for you?”
finally, someone willing to feed him. ever since he moved here, food’s become much harder to come by. ashiya’s in a different apartment completely, and maou doesn’t seem willing to deliver. urushihara’s stomach grumbles at the thought of food.
“fast food sounds delicious right now.”

A few moments later he pulled out his phone and opened the message he just got. Ooh, money? Don’t mind if he–Heeeey, wait a second…
“H-How do you get anything out of this..?! This isn’t productive at all..!! I don’t even get what you mean by ‘getting magic back’… Magic can’t be lost, only gained!” …From what he studied, anyway.
urushihara almost laughed out loud when he realized this guy almost opened the text he literally just composed in front of him—the very same one he outright said was a virus that would break his phone. damn, people in this world sure are gullible.
“because in this world magic isn’t a concept, i don’t have access to it like i did back home. but i can get magic back from negative human emotions. when people around me experience negative emotions, i’m able to use my magic again.”

As much as Ashiya didn’t believe such inconvenient features would exist on a mobile telephone, he knew very little otherwise whereas Urushihara knew plenty about electronics as a whole. What choice did he have besides to trust him on this technological endeavor? Besides, on the chance that these setting changes were not permanent, he still didn’t know how to change it back. Regardless, Ashiya had to go to the fallen angel for assistance.

And that, he did. A knock on the room door signified Ashiya Shirou’s arrival, cellphone in tow.

urushihara can’t believe how gullible ashiya is. you’d think someone who once lead an entire army of demons and monsters would be able to guess when someone’s lying. but he’s certainly not complaining. he’s going to milk this for all that it’s worth.

the fallen angel then picks up his PASTA game system and picks up where he left off before this whole event happened. his thumbs tapped buttons and moved control sticks as he ducked and dodged enemies while simultaneously shooting off beams of energy to get them out of his way. he was in the middle of a boss battle when he heard the knock on his door.

urushihara then inserted a link to the program he just typed up and hit send. “i’m not using magic to bring misfortune. i’m getting magic as a result of the misfortune. there’s a difference.”

“partially because it’s fun to see people running around and panicking,” urushihara pulls out his phone and begins to writing out a text, “and partially because it’s the best way to get some magic back.”

“i’m not asking your permission. if i wanted to, i would mug whoever i want. and a computer virus is a cinch. a few lines of code, a harmless email or a friendly text. next thing you know your device is riddled with glitches and might as well be a brick.”

“…Depends on the kind of panic.” Sure, he wasn’t comfy with everything being so calm, but he didn’t necessarily want to see others get spooked because he’s bored.
“nothing too extreme. maybe a mugging or ten here, a few computer viruses there. y’know, enough to cause distress and negative emotions, but not enough to cause the collapse of society.”

Holding up the Playstation 1 controller he was given, he couldn’t help but frown at the implications of that. How was he supposed to use the object if he didn’t even have the other part to it? It didn’t make sense.
Then again, none of the technology here made much sense to him. Maybe that was the problem.

urushihara found himself a regular grade a sucker here. when he put up flyers advertising his ps one controller he figured he might find some old school gamer who absolutely needed to play his original copy of final fantasy vii that night or something. or at least someone who knew what a friggin’ ps one was.
but here he is with some naïve technologically-impaired pirate cosplayer who thought the controller was the entire game. he didn’t sign up for a lesson in the history of sony. jeez.
“if you want that controller to do you any good, you need to get the playstation console. and even then, you need to grab games as well. this isn’t something you can just pick up and play. it’s playstation, not leapfrog. honestly.”
