We seem to be connecting everything these days, but is it improving them or could it actually be compromising their very function?
Why expanding the WoT has never been a good idea...
“An anthropologist proposed a game to children in an african tribe. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the children that whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run, they all took eachothers hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats.
When he asked them why they had run like that when one could have had all the fruits for himself, they said ‘UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the others are sad?’ (‘UBUNTU’ in the Xhosa culture means: ‘I am because we are)”
Literally the opposite of the American world view of “I can only be happy if somebody else has less than me”
This is beautiful
absolute fave,
I looked into this a little bit (because honestly this reads like a chain letter) and it turns out that not only is it real, but that Ubuntu is a complete and nuanced philosophy, not just a word, as is stated here.
And here I thought it was just an operating system
My new Malwarebytes high score!
jfc how much did you torrent lol
Why Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is one of the best available
Okay, I’m gonna geek out here a little bit and talk about one of my favorites (okay, not even one of, just my plain favorite) anti-malware programs. That program is malwarebytes Anti-Malware free home edition. Most likely by now people are aware that free anti-malware is not the death sentence it once was, and in fact some of the best options are free. Malwarebytes is often regarded as the best cleanup tool, and with good reason: it is consistently able to detect and remove both known and zero-day threats. Malwarebytes Chameleon, a program that now comes pre-packaged with Malwarebytes, is able to install and open Malwarebytes through almost all forms of AM-blocking malware.
However, a lot of people think cleanup is the only use for Malwarebytes, and I couldn’t disagree more. With a little help, it is easily the best-functioning protection available. It’s true, the free version is missing a few features, namely automatic scans and real-time protection. While the paid home version does, in fact, have these features, they don’t aren’t anything to write home about (the business version, on the other hand, is well worth the buy). If you want to buy something from Malwarebytes, don’t get the premium home program - instead, spend your money on Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. While the free version is still wonderful, it doesn’t cover all exploitable programs - the premium version does. That decision is yours to make, depending on your needs, but I highly recommend the investment.
Now, why am I suggesting an anti-exploit program over tradition real-time protection? Because it’s realistic. Nowadays, exploits are without a doubt the most common vector for infection. If you have a good anti-exploit program and don’t torrent or download from generally seedy places, the likelihood of you getting infected in the first place is incredibly low. And, if you do somehow manage to get infected in spite of this, Malwarebtes Anti-Malware free edition is more than powerful enough to handle it.
Note: neither of these programs will protect you from phishing sites, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I think it’s important that we as users learn how to analyze a website for safety, these are important skills!

In my spam email
So they found you too, ey? Mine was a lot more sinister...
First Post!
So I was browsing my spam folder (this is how I have fun) and I found a rather creepy, if not downright odd, spam message.
Yeah...I'm not quite sure what's going on with that one, but okay...
So I checked the link that the "CLICK HERE" redirects to, and...well, it's not a proper link. It doesn't have a TLD of any recognizable sort, and neither Sucuri nor Quttera could make anything of it. However, when I entered it into the VirusTotal url scanner, it still managed to come up with an IP address...that resolved to Seoul, South Korea. Okay. It also revealed a PHP header that supposedly expired 19 Nov, 1981, at 8:52:00 GMT. Someone's trying to avoid being cached...
If anyone with more coding knowledge wants the link, let me know!
Update: it's actually watches...still doesn't explain the obfuscated address...
