“I don’t mean to alarm ya, but I ain’t dressin’ up for Halloween. ‘cause if ya saw what was under this mask, boy you’d want me to put it right back on ‘cause you’d swear I was scarier. Like somethin’ right out of a Guillermo Del Toro movie.”
He paused, however, when she asked if he was a crook. Was he though? He had been trying to mend his ways but, hey. Money was money and when money came from a crook, well… odds were he was a crook. “Depends on the day, I guess.”
He couldn’t help but grin, however, when the girl said she’d beaten up the crooks that had come before her. “Aw, ain’t that cute. Well, sweet pea, if it’s any consolation, I ain’t a crook today. Just your friendly neighborhood mercenary. And the calendar isn’t a very good read. Why’re you readin’ calendars? Unless they’ve got cool pictures.” Or boobies. “Yeah, or those.”
“I’ve never heard of a Del Tauros before! Is that a fancy Pokemon?”
There was nothin’ scary about Pokemon! This guy was totally weird... Maybe he just wasn’t very tough. Kotone decided that was okay, she wasn’t very tough when she was younger.. So maybe this dude was just going through the un-tough portion of his life or something! “You’re awfully, silly!” She laughed to herself a bit.
Kotone narrowed her eyes at the masked man before her after hearing that bit about the calendar. “Is that some kind of joke? You tryin’ to be funny? Don’t you look at a calendar to see what day it is? You have to if you wanna make it on time to the bug catching competition! Those are only on certain days...” The brunette shook her head in a disapproving manner, “Oh boy.. You’ve got so much to learn! Although.. I haven’t seen anything about a bug catching competition in this city, so maybe I’m the one that needs to learn something..”
She looked around a bit, suddenly realizing maybe this place was this guy’s home turf, or at least something like it. Maybe in a big city you never need to check a calendar! You can just live life on the edge...
“Also--!”
Kotone spoke again suddenly, so much so that it startled some passerby's. “I’m not a ‘sweetpea’ ... I don’t even like peas!”
