One day, the clinic staff came to get you, wearing straitjackets, when you struggled and refused to go, completely confused and not knowing why. But looking at your parents, at their carefree faces, you realized they were the ones responsible.

You cried, screamed, and begged them to stop it—but they just ignored you, your father demanding the nurses take you away immediately. The nurses forcibly took you to a van, transporting you far from the place you used to call home.

Your mind was numb from the events, perhaps also from an injection one of the nurses gave you in your arm. You slept during the journey, waking hours later in a completely white room, the bright lights blinding your eyes for a few moments before they adjusted.

You were in the Care Center, wearing completely different clothes than before, with a blood collector on your arm, filling a small bag beside you.

From that day on, you began to strongly resent and hate your parents.

Nurses collected your blood almost every day, asking you questions about your routine, physical condition, and health. It was exhausting, but you couldn't do anything but answer and remain submissive. Your temperament wouldn't help you get out; it would only make things worse and make those crazy doctors believe your parents' words.

A few weeks had passed since your arrival at the Care Center, and another doctor had taken over your care when you showed signs of depression—this was because the nurses weren't able to stop it, and it was affecting your blood tests.

He was strange in your eyes, wearing a snakeskin lab coat and being quite tall, but what really caught your attention was that thing covering his eyes, a kind of glasses. He spoke little to you during visits, but he was considerably kinder and more sympathetic than those nurses; his voice was strangely calm.

Victor Gideon. That was his name.

You found him strange, but decided not to complain about it and remained quiet when he tried to start a conversation with you or came to collect your blood. Even though he was kind to you, you were wary of him. He seemed indifferent to it, his only focus being your blood and your depression.

Even impatient, Victor chose a slow approach with you, not forcing much conversation and being gentle at all times. Your depression was causing changes in your blood tests, and he needed to stop this before it worsened. He had to know if your blood had what he was looking for.

A month passed, Gideon began visiting you more frequently and spending more time in your room, an action that began to make you uneasy and perhaps a little afraid. He reassured you at every moment, sometimes talking while calmly and precisely collecting your blood. As your depression worsened, your mind became increasingly confused, and gradually you found yourself talking to him.

He noticed the worsening in your room and began bringing objects to keep your mind occupied and active. These objects ranged from books to toys; Rubik's cubes, a chessboard which he sometimes joined, cards, etc.

The conversations became longer and deeper over the next few days, and talking to someone was somehow improving your state – even if slowly, and even if it was with your strange doctor you were talking to. You began to find him good company, opening up more and playing with the objects he brought, murmuring a low, shy thank you.

Your depression began to lessen as time went on, your doctor clearly being the cause of your improvement. The daily blood draws resumed, but Victor continued to visit you and talk to you during the draws – asking questions about your condition, listening attentively to you speak. Being heard was a feeling you had never experienced in your life.

“You’re doing well, dear,” he would say every time he saw signs of improvement in you. “Keep it up.”

He began to make you uneasy as strange feelings grew in your chest.

You always found yourself anxious for his next visit.

Victor noticed this change in you, being the observant man he is. A pang of curiosity overwhelmed him before he could stop it, even though his initial plan was only to improve your condition – your reaction was totally unexpected for him, but pleasant. He began to observe you more closely, the way you smiled while talking to him or when he initiated conversation; you seemed more active, interested, and less isolated.

Your smile caused a strange sensation in his chest, something he ignored, focused on analyzing your blood.

And when the results of your blood tests arrived on his desk, he saw that you didn't have what he was looking for, but even after knowing this, he didn't stop visiting you. Even though there was no longer any reason to keep you at the clinic, he wasn't going to let such an interesting patient slip away. You had been at the Care Center for almost a year and a half, your improvement evident even to the nurses when they saw you bringing your food.

Victor was your medicine, the person who pulled you out of the darkness and made you see life differently.

And you... well, you became his favorite patient.

It was night and raining outside, most of the patients had already gone to sleep and the clinic was silent, except for the sound of moving parts coming from your room. You were sitting on your bed, playing with the Rubik's Cube that Dr. Gideon had left there for you, your eyebrows furrowed in concentration as your hands quickly moved the pieces, huffing in frustration a few times when making wrong combinations.

The door to your room opened, but due to your extreme focus you didn't take your eyes off the Rubik's Cube. But it was the deep, melodious laugh that made you stop, sending a pleasant shiver down your spine and quickly making your gaze dart towards the sound, your eyes shining when you saw your Doctor. “Did I disturb you?” he asked, approaching your bed before sitting on the edge. “I see you’re quite focused, and that you liked my gift.”

You quickly shook your head and put the toy aside, crawling between the sheets to sit beside him, your head finding its place on the Doctor’s arm. He placed his hand on the top of your head and gently stroked your hair, earning a low purr from you.

“How are you feeling today?” was a question he always asked when he entered your room, and even though you heard it so many times, it still had a strong effect on you.

“I feel good,” you replied, snuggling closer to him. “Better when you’re around…” you admitted in a whisper, feeling your cheeks warm at what had just come out of your mouth.

“Oh, really?” he couldn’t help but chuckle, not mocking you—never mocking you. “I’m glad to hear that, darling. Your recovery is very important.”

You laughed too, glancing at him through your long eyelashes, meeting his gaze through those glasses. His fingers remained caressing your hair, gently brushing it down.

“You were late today…” you complained, a pout forming on your slightly chapped lips, the sight eliciting another laugh from Victor.

“Late?” he inquired, letting his question hang in the air before speaking again. “I had a meeting. Sorry to keep you waiting, dear.”

You simply nodded and clung even closer to him, closing any space that might have existed between you. He noticed you seemed more restless than usual, your body warm and trembling beside him, pupils dilated and cheeks flushed. It was the first time he'd seen you like this, but that didn't mean he didn't know what was happening to your body.

His hand slid slightly down to your shoulder, easily reaching your face to bring your gaze to his, his fingers gently lifting your chin. He smiled, studying your face beneath that visor you'd come to find so attractive. You knew he knew, but you made no effort to hide what was happening.

You wanted him to see what he was doing to your body.
