((Hi! Just a question, is your blog exclusive, or would you be willing to rp with another Leaks or another Konoe? Thank you!))
((Hi there! This is primarily an ask blog, but I wouldn’t say no to RPing with canon Lamento characters (non-exclusive, the more the merrier!)!))
[Hello! This place is actually not abandoned—turns out I just wasn’t receiving notifs from it. Thank you, tumblr. Sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring people, and I promise to get to those asks soon! o7]
“Finally, we can rest.”
Happy 9th Birthday, Lamento.
"They like you back, you know."
Leaks' new hobby, it seemed, was to move forget-me-nots around—pushing them away when they covered paragraphs he wanted to read, then letting them be pressed again between the pages of his books once they were turned.
He moved them carefully out of the way of things he wanted to get on the shelves, gathering them on a corner, most of the time, or taking them to the nearest empty bowl or cup until they were ready to spill. The flowers that didn't get in the way of anything just stayed there, a constant reminder.
"What are you talking about?"
Shui smiled up at him from his place on the floor. "The forest, the animals—even the monsters."
"And you would know that how...?" Leaks asked, raising an eyebrow.
Because they sing you a song, were the right words. A song that I think only I can hear. But that was unfair, and Shui didn't know how to put it all in a way that made sense anyway. Not to Leaks, at least.
"I just feel it."
Leaks sighed. "Stop saying such pointless things."
It wasn't pointless. Being liked—being loved—was never pointless, Shui thought. But there were things Leaks couldn't understand, still, couldn't really accept and take in no matter how good they were, and Shui had gotten used to that.
There were other ways to put them, he decided, ways that did make sense.
Shui closed his eyes and listened. His fingers began to move over the strings of his harp-lute, first hesitant and almost clumsy, then more confidently as he really heard the song—a song that was not his or for him, but was important exactly because of that.
He didn't need to look to know that Leaks had closed his eyes to listen, too.
As he let the quiet, gentle song lead his fingers and fill the small house, Shui wondered if it wasn't about time to find a way to get Leaks to understand him as well. He couldn't just keep counting on the forget-me-nots forever, after all.
The road is long, but it's a length he's more than willing go to just to listen to the creaking of wood of that opening door, a sound sweeter to his ears than any song. Well, almost any song.
The place smells vaguely of chamomile and whatever it is that Leaks has bubbling in those pots he calls 'beakers' and Shui never understood why — they don't really have beaks. But mostly, everything smells of Leaks; of smoke and book-dust and all those quiet, dark places in the forest where it's so good to fall asleep.
Shui is so very tired.
He doesn't know what it is about Ransen that feels so draining as of late, just as he doesn't know what it is about this house — about Leaks — that feels so like home.
It's without a word that he drops to the floor beside the black cat and presses his forehead against one leather-clad shoulder. Leaks says nothing either, nor does he move, away or closer.
Shui lets his eyes fall shut — finally, finally — and, for a moment, just breathes.
The world tilts, shifts, and slowly returns to its place, pieces falling together to make a whole Shui hadn't even noticed was scattered.
He opens his eyes again to find a black tail tapping against his knees; once, twice, then laying across them. Shui accepts this offering with a soft chuckle.
He pulls the tail up, presses the crook of it to his lips, and feels, more than hears, the sharp intake of breath right beside him.
It's amazing how much he loves Leaks' muted colours; and as they tickle his mouth, coarse but gentle, he wonders how can anyone ever think them bad.

Played Lamento recently and I love nekomimis more than ever
[He really wishes he could have been there for Konoe, too. Not only for songs but for—everything.]
((Is it too early into the patch release to bring Mr. Walking Spoiler here back to life, I wonder...))
Lamento -Beyond the Void- Complete English Patch

Summary: The game takes place in a fictional world inhabited by ribika, humanlike beings with cat ears and tails. Their country, an island called Sisa, is plagued by two mysterious afflictions. One, a phenomenon known as The Void, has caused the earth to reject the ribika, making plants and animals impossible to touch, with major food shortages as a consequence. The other, a strange, deadly, and slowly-spreading disease known as the Sickness has killed off a large percentage of the female ribika population.
Konoe lives alone in the village of Karou, where the ribika have resorted to a system of sacrifice simply to keep the surviving villagers fed. One day in Karou, Konoe suddenly begins to have horrible, recurring nightmares, and he awakens to discover that the emblems of a legendary curse have appeared on his body. Seeking answers and fleeing a cruel fate in his village, Konoe embarks on a quest that spirals into something much larger than a simple country cat could’ve bargained for…

Sending to Papa: [MSG:] It happened again…
youre cleaning it up yourself. or buying a new one. or taking him to the hospital.
Pick the one that applies, Konoe.
these flowers are everywhere
Konoe had finished up his side of the living room; situating all the stems and petals in a fairly organized pile next to his fathers by the door. He is actually surprised at how much is actually scattered around the room; he didn’t think Asato had brought over this much…
With a shake of his head, he moves towards the furniture, trying to pick up what he could without leaving a pollen trail behind. Good thing they had leather…
He was curious as to why his father’s side of the room was suddenly so quiet, and with a quick glance over, he got his answer when he saw Shui staring strongly at the previously used leaf blower.
"Umm… Tou-san?"
The thing should not be powerful enough to destroy a ceiling lamp, right? Just enough to blow the flowers off it. The other option would be go looking for a ladder—but Shui doesn't know where that one is, and they're on a time limit here.
Nodding to himself, Shui picks up the leaf blower again.
"Ah, Konoe? You should probably cover your ears for a second..."
I Don't Dance (or Act or Sing)
"Sugar also lowers your immunity," he argues weakly. "But in modest amounts... I can't see the harm in it."
The way Shui tried to be logical with him made him smile. His ear flickered in place when it was touched, and he slightly leaned back along with the chair. Shui wouldn't leave him alone until he conceded anyway.
Victory! Shui hums contentedly and, since their position seems perfect for it, leans down and presses his face to the side of Leaks' head, nuzzling him a bit. Just a little bit. An appropriate amount for, say, a public place. Which the lab should be, in theory—if anyone else had the courage to enter it.
Finally, Shui pulls back, smiling. "Let's go, then?"
I Don't Dance (or Act or Sing)
Leaks looked back at Shui with a slight pout. He knew what was happening.
"The coffee in the staff room is terrible," he states, his ears flattening in distaste. "It would be better if I just waited for dinner."
'Dinner', as in 'whenever he decides to leave the school', and who knows how long he will stay tonight? Leaks was notorious for his late-nights; so much, in fact, that the kittens had begun rumours about their teacher having a bedroom in the school (or more specifically, under the lab).
Shui can't help but flick a black ear with a finger. He leans over the back of Leaks' chair. "It's not that bad."
It's not like he's ever tasted it, but he figures it can't be so awful when the other teachers attack the coffee as soon as it comes out.
"And the food is good. Ah! There are some sweets! Wasn't it you who told me sugar makes the brain work better?" Shui can have as selective a memory to the lessons he learns as the kittens they teach—and it should be clear by now that he's not planning on leaving until Leaks comes along.
I Don't Dance (or Act or Sing)
"This morning," he said, nudging Shui's tail back. "I was too busy to do anything for lunch." He says this as if it was acceptable, even though missing lunch and only having a breakfast bar for the day was certainly not. But he was in a little hurry that morning, so at least he decided to grab something, right?
Perfect. Just the answer he was expecting.
Shui stands up and gives the back of Leaks' chair a light tug—not strong enough to actually move it if Leaks really doesn't want to, but just to indicate the black cat should follow suit.
"You know, they just brought snacks and coffee to the staff room..."
these flowers are everywhere
Safe…
Konoe nods his head a little more enthusiastically than a normal cat would, agreeing to the words of his father, as juvenile as the information was. He does know, but if it means he’s off the hook for now, then being treated like a scolded kitten was more than worth it.
Breathing out a sigh of relief once Shui turns back to his side of the room, Konoe takes up his broom again and continues to work on that pile.
With the amount of flowers all over the house, he’s going to need to make sure to tell Asato to calm it down…
Fortunately 'cleaning' is pretty high up in Shui's list of skills, and he makes quick work of the flowers on the floor. Soon enough they're a neat little pile by the front door.
Now back to the ones on the lamp. Part of him wants to ask Konoe how did he manage that, but another, bigger and more sensible part sticks firmly to 'I don't want to know'.
Shui stares at the leaf blower speculatively.
I Don't Dance (or Act or Sing)
"Oh?’ Leaks raises an eyebrow. "Don’t tell me—Bardo volunteered to play Belle, didn’t he?"
That certainly wasn’t the oddest thing he had seen from Bardo, but Leaks knew he wasn’t above doing something of the sort. He had a bold personality, which Leaks wouldn’t say was a bad thing. Maybe just a little…annoying. He harboured no ill-will towards Bardo, but just being around the tiger made him feel irked. Perhaps it was because they were so different.
Shui beams, then puts a finger to his lips. "Se~cret~"
He hasn't, really... yet. But Shui is certain Bardo will be willing to cooperate once he finds out who their tiny Beast is going to be.
"I'll talk to the principal later," Shui says, satisfied. And, seeing that Leaks has apparently given up working on—whatever it is that he was working on, Shui decides it's high time Leaks leaves the lab for a bit. Another tail nudge. "When was the last time you ate?"
