Fun Fact: The code that controls the gaster blaster circle at the end of the sans fight uses a variable named "o_o" to ensure the blasters aren't too fast.
Fun Fact: After defeating the secret boss of Deltarune Chapter 5, you have the option to buy up to 3 items from the 6 colored flowers, as well as one from flowery after buying all 3.
For whatever reason, the game stores what items you bought on each file in the "dr.ini" file, which is normally only used for basic save file information (to display on the menu screen) as well as whether or not you've ever completed the weird route (which, is scary, but not what we're talking about).
Attached below the cut is an example the data for my main save file in dr.ini, saved on slot one (internally slot zero) where i bought items from Seth, Green, Yellow, and Flowery (shown as items 0, 3, 5, and 6 respectively).
Fun Fact: In the Chapter 5 egg room, Kris' character description gets set to simply "LV1", which is also the unused default description for each character that gets replaced in each chapter.
Fun Fact: If you decompile the Undertale demo, you can see that all the code still has comments in it. This is not the case in the full game, which is because GameMaker: Studio 1.0+ deletes comments upon game compilation, while GameMaker 8.1 and below didn't.
Fun Fact: In Deltarune Chapter 2, you can return the heart-shaped box of chocolates for 5 dollars.
Fun Fact: In Deltarune Chapter 3, the secret T-rank room changes between boards.
Fun Fact: Deltarune Chapter 3 is out now.
Fun Fact: In Undertale's code, there is unused dialogue during Mettaton's opera that should show up when the player moves around during the performance, or "dances." This dialogue was intended to have several variations depending on how you "dance," but is bugged such that none of it actually appears.
I have included the variations in their own sections below the cut in case the code is somewhat difficult to read.
did you know?
Fun Fact: In Undertale, there is a bit where Sans tries to sell you fried snow at increasingly higher prices, with the highest being 50000 G. If you actually get 50000 G, sans tells you that he can't sell you the snow as it has "too much sentimental value."
Fun Fact: In Undertale, there is an unused version of Asriel's head shake animation, shown above. Internally, the unused one is referred to as asriel_headshake, whereas the used version is asriel_headshake_sassy.
Fun Fact: For some reason, this line doesn't have an asterisk. This is almost certainly not lore relevant.
Fun Fact: If you do a full pacifist run of Undertale without saving a single time, then there are two special lines of dialogue in the Asriel fight.
Fun Fact: Catti and Jockington like unhinging their jaws.
Fun Fact: In Deltarune, if you try to call Kris' home phone while in the room with it, you get special dialogue.
Fun Fact: In the Rouxls battle in Deltarune Chapter 2, you can move the house selecting cursor over to the thrash machine and Rouxls for extra dialogue.
Fun Fact: In Undertale, if you bring an umbrella to the nice cream guy in Waterfall, he gives you a discount due to "umbrella solidarity."
