OKAY so lots of Woojin on the dash and I hate to keep bringing the past up but there’s just some things just need to be cleared up.

So. The main reason why Woojin leaving hurt in the first place was because it was a silent agreement that Stray Kids were going to be nine or none. We have no idea why Woojin left and we won’t ever unless Woojin feels comfortable enough to share it with us. And if he never does, that’s okay. We’re not entitled for an explanation.

Now. Some stays decided to unstan completely because they couldn’t see Stray Kids as anything but nine. That’s fair. That’s their opinion, that’s their choice. They’re not any lesser being for it. 

And then there are some stays who decided to be OT8. Now this concept is a little hard to justify but at the same time it’s hard to just completely shut it down.

From what I saw stays either stanned OT8 because:

1. Woojin simply isn’t part of the group so realistically it’s OT8, and that is true.

OR

2. They believe that Woojin choosing to leave was selfish and hurt Stray Kids, and therefore he can’t be forgiven.

The second reasoning I find to be a little faulty, because again, we don’t know what really happened, and we don’t need to. In the case he did choose to leave, there was a valid reason for it. That’s why it was done. And yes Stray Kids did suffer in the process. They cried they hurt, but Woojin didn’t purposefully hurt them. They loved him, and that’s why it hurt. Because they shared dreams with Woojin, they had hopes to make it to the top with Woojin. 

Now here comes the kicker. Clout and cancel culture.

Stays used to have a fight with whether Woojin was underrated or Seungmin. Either way, there were a lot of us that didn’t cherish Woojin enough as much as we’d like. Myself included.

In the process we generated a shit ton of Woojin content on that day, and rather than being seen as a way to memorialize his journey with Stray Kids, it came off more as a way to get more notes and followers from the drama. 

Suddenly stays were being called out for not being sensitive enough and that they should be looking out for Woojin stans. This is probably where the “oppression” came from. Woojin stans felt as though Woojin wasn’t being taken seriously as usual, that we were just using him for attention and whenever they called it out, people got defensive and got into fights.

But let us be clear: everyone has the right to be upset and everyone has the right to move on. You can be one or the other or in between or neither. But whatever you felt and whatever you feel is valid.

Now that’s in the past. It’s been three to four months now. Woojin is back on Instagram. He’s getting back into the music industry. We have a chance to start over, to start anew. Woojin stans will have the love of their lives back. Stays in general will get another chance to appreciate him for his talents.

There’s hope for a fresh start, a restart, as Woojin said himself. Make the most of it.
