The Girl in the Spider’s Web
I haven’t posted on this blog for over a year, but after recently watching Claire Foy in Unsane, I’m convinced; I can’t wait to see her as Lisbeth.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web

I fucking hate Sony. I can just see it now…. they’re gonna have Jane Levy play Lisbeth Salander. I liked Don’t Breathe and the Evil Dead remake, but it’s ridiculous to skip two books that were successful for a faux-sequel that no one really cares about. Apparently there’s a book 5 coming out next year. I guess we were really spoiled by the 2011 masterpiece, I didn’t think this franchise could fall so far. Don’t underestimate the hack company that is Sony.
This new movie “Friend Request” has a very familiar looking character... not only that, but she’s involved with rape, wasps, hacking, socially awkward/borderline autistic behavior. This character is fucking nuts though. And this movie... omg this movie is unbelievable though, in a bad way. I can’t even explain it, just watch this movie and see for yourself.
Best trailer ever. I miss 2011
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Sequels are happening again?
I'm a little late to the party with this one but it's given me a large chunk of time to thoroughly mull it over. Here goes:
First I wanna say this news is so weary. The notion of Millennium sequels has been thrown around for the last six years and frankly I'm not getting my hopes up. When the Spider's Web book came out and they were talking about skipping the second two books and just doing the fourth one with all new people, or maybe combining the second two into one movie I just lost interest entirely. The 2011 Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the most personally impactful film I've ever seen, and I'd seriously give my left testicle to have the next two books adapted properly, but it's become too much of a pipe dream for me to trust a company like Sony.
Speaking of Sony aka Columbia Pictures, the highly credible studio that brought you Total Recall and Robocop remakes, plus Grown Ups, Pixels, the dreaded Amazing Spider-Man movies, not to mention the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. Ugh. The only time Sony releases a good film is when they actually lend complete creative control to a talented team of artists and filmmakers rather than letting their executives make a shitty Spider-Man reboot simply to retain the rights to their superhero cash cow. On the other hand, there are good Sony releases in recent years such as Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thrity, Cabin in the Woods, Fury, and of course The Social Network, and TGWTDT.
Next there's the issue of cast & crew. Alicia Vikander is a great actress and I bet she'd make a great Salander, with a much more convincing Swedish accent than Rooney's even. But people have already developed a seriously strong emotional attachment to Rooney's flawless representation of Salander. Recasting the lead for the a sequel is a recipe for a disaster of a trilogy in my opinion. It just destroys continuity, tone, and to have a new actress imitating an already highly successful actress just sounds plain awful. Keep Rooney. She's clearly committed, plus the fans, critics, even the god damn academy loves her. DO NOT FUCK WITH THAT.
Daniel Craig made a great Blomkvist but I'd be much more willing to take a recast on this one. It's still a bad idea on the whole, but he's such a big name that I can imagine him being difficult to keep. If he has to be recast, stick closely with his smaller role in Played with Fire and Hornets' Nest. Plus let's be honest, who's really going to watch a Millennium movie for Daniel Craig? Great actor, don't get me wrong, and he works as Blomkvist one hundred percent, but I can admit to considering him replaceable if need be.
Then there's the great David Fincher. Him, Christopher Nolan, and Darren Aronofsky are my "big three." If Sony officially announced Fincher signing on to finish the trilogy with Rooney I'd freak the fuck out. But like Daniel Craig, I can imagine Fincher being difficult. Even he himself hasn't shown any positive interest in doing it which is a real shame. I don't know, I'm rooting for the whole cast and crew to reunite to complete the trilogy, maybe even rework the fourth book into something awesome. David Fincher, Steven Zaillian, Daniel Craig, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Kirk Baxter & Angus Wall, Jeff Cronenweth, Trish Summerville, and Rooney Mara. But this honestly just feels like I've crawled way too far into that pipe dream.
Worst case scenario Rooney returns with a new cast and crew. My biggest fear: Sony fucking up everything solely to generate revenue. If that's the case, sorry I'm not buying it. Go fuck yourselves.
The Girl Who Played With Fire Sequel is Happening !! 🐉🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sony's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" sequel is gaining traction, with Steven Knight in early talks to pen "The Girl in the Spider's Web," sources tell Variety. "The Girl in the Spider's Web" is...

Seriously?
Two more Fifty Shades of Fuck You movies confirmed for the next two years, but Millennium fans are STILL holding their breath?
Best of David Fincher not giving a fuck:
