He heard the blade deactivate, but the burning hadn’t stopped. The pain was still there, mixed with his lack of oxygen it was a wonder he was even still conscious. Then there was a hand on his chin and he flinched.Â
This was the Dark Side, this is what they did to get ahead. Kanan knew he didn’t belong here and this was just solidifying it.
He was then dropped and hit the floor hard. He was coughing and gasping for air as his hands moved to cover his face. There was so much pain and it wouldn’t go away.
Yes, it was the Dark Side --- everyone wanted to do their best to get power. That was the trap of the Dark Side --- it only left yourself and that was something that Kanan was learning. Yet, he simply didn’t belong there at all... not really at least.
“Your pet didn’t last long --- a pity.” Vader stated bluntly, “Dispose of him.” Of course, Vader didn’t care of Xylek did or didn’t dispose of Kanan --- his work was done.
However, Wyndel knew he had failed --- it wasn’t the first time this had actually happened, but would it be the last? Possibly or possibly not --- the only thing that did actually matter was that Kanan was alive --- even if he didn’t know how long that would be for.
“I’m sorry... I’m so sorry.”
