Does anyone know of non problematic resources to learn about the Norse Pantheon?
Hi! I have a page where I've collected vetted resources (books, websites, etc.) as well as my own insights/experiences.
I hope this is helpful: Heathenry 101
i've been pretty busy with job interviews recently, so my devotional routine has been regulated to a very slim amount of time before i go to bed. i'm trying to make it as meaningful as i can while not overwhelming myself, and it looks something like this;
- i light both loki and freyja's candles, and welcome them into my space. i typically try to express my gratitude towards them in some way, whether it's for their general presence or something specific that happened that day. if i have something important going on, i'll ask for their continual guidance and support
- i make a mug of hot tea (ask what flavor they'd prefer), and offer some to them on their altar, so we can share a glass together. i don't drink alcohol, so this is my best alternative as an offering
- i sip my tea in bed and scroll through my tumblr for a bit to feel more connected!
- once i'm done, i say another quick prayer of gratitude and blow the candles out, and then i'll get into bed and go to sleep
...and that's it! this works really well for me because it feels like i'm getting some quality time with them in, and it's dedicated solely to them, but it also helps me wind down before bed and relaxes me enough to get sleepy. job searching can be taxing so it's much needed!
i hope this also serves as a reminder that worshipping your deities can be casual and relaxed, yet still rewarding.

Get Thee Hence Powder
For getting rid of stubborn ex-lovers, or would-be suitors who don’t understand the meaning of “no.” Counters Come Hither Powder, should the need arise.
Ingredients:
1 pt Pistachio Shells
1 pt Lime Peel
1 pt Cinnamon
½ pt Lemon Verbena
½ pt Black Pepper
½ pt Witch Hazel
3 crushed Chili Pepper seeds per ½ cup batch (any sort will do)
Optional: If the lover in question was attracted by magic, add ½ part Turmeric.
Materials:
Mortar & Pestle or Spice Grinder
Funnel
Mesh Strainer
Collection Dish
Container
Grind each ingredient separately for several minutes to produce fine powder. Sieve the material through the mesh strainer into the collection dish; this removes the larger ungrindable pieces and gives you cleaner powdered herb. (Pro-Tip: Putting a funnel under the strainer helps reduce lost material.)
For the Pistachio Shells, retain the leftover large pieces that don’t make it through the strainer. You can use this for loose incense or charm bags later. Remember, witchlings: waste not, want not!
Combine the component powders in the collection dish, mix well, and bottle immediately.
To rid yourself of a persistent ex, bind up three generous pinches in brown paper upon which is written your ex-lover’s name, tie with black string, and bury the packet under a flat stone somewhere off your property. If you can do so under a thorny bush or shrub, so much the better.
If your problem is harassment at school or in the workplace or a social setting, carry a small packet or bottle of the powder with you, or sprinkle several pinches where you know the person is certain to walk over it. To sever the attachment and put an end to things, dust your hands with the powder and firmly shake hands with the target while saying goodbye in some fashion. (Make sure it’s “goodbye” or “farewell,” not “see you later” or the like. Do not wash your hands until after the handshake.)
If your problem is unwanted attention at your home, sprinkle three pinches at each corner of your property, then mix a spoonful of the powder with 2 cups of vinegar and use it to wash your doorstep.
Note: Remember always that magic is no substitute for practical action. If you are being harassed or if you feel you are in any way endangered, contact the authorities or your local emergency hotline, and take all practical measure to ensure your personal safety.

what books would you recommend for baby heathens. any recommendations for runestones?
My personal recommendations would be:
A Traveller's Guide to Modern Heathenry: An Introduction, published by Asatru UK and Pantheon: The Norse by Morgan Daimler, as well as Norse Mythology: A Guide To The Gods, Heroes, Rituals and Beliefs by John Lindow and Dictionary of Norse Myth and Legend by Andy Orchard (they're easier to consume than Simek's Dictionary of Northern Mythology).
As for books about runes, it's largely going to depend on what you're after. I haven't read it myself so I can't say for certain how good it is but Asatru UK published The Traveller's Book on Runes as part of their Traveller's Collection. I'd also recommend Runes: A Handbook by M. P. Barnes, and An Introduction to English Runes by R. I. Page.
The site, Að Falla í Stafi, has a recommended list of rune books as well that is worth checking out:
https://fallaistafi.altervista.org/reading-list/
@drekisdottir has a decent bibliography on their rune site as well, so you should be able to find some decent rune related books there as well:
https://runesoftheoerp.wordpress.com/sources-for-this-website/#bibliography
The Old English, Icelandic and Norwegian Rune Poems are always worth a read as well.

The next panel shows the same imagery and the figure with the eyepatch says: "That long groove is where I dragged you kicking and screaming."

Healing Sore Throat Potion
You will need the following items for this spell:
Small bowl/plate
4 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
sugar
Start by mixing the honey with lemon juice and add sugar. (may need a lot of sugar) Make sure that it is mixed well before taking 1 teaspoon of potion and eat it. Continue for a few days or until sore throat is better.
Note: If the sore throat is from a virus or a bacteria please seek a doctor first, since the sugar might be a bad idea
Casual ways to connect with your deities
-Pray to them or just just talk with them and tell them about your day
-Light a candle and say your thanks
-Offer your meal/snack to them or bake/cook with them or for them
-Watch a movie in their honor
-Offer your morning drink to them or make a cup for them
-Assign them a plant and take care of it as a devotion to them
-Listen to music that reminds you of them
-Say good morning/good night
-Thank them for the things you see that you consider beautiful
16 Ways to Connect with the Gods when you don't have an Altar
So I'm currently away from home for 10 days (pet/house sitting) and I don't have an altar space with me. I have my tarot deck and that's it. I decided to write this list incase it might help someone else who is away from home or is just in the pagan closet. Enjoy!
Read your Deity's myths or listen to people read myths on youtube
Sit outside and just think about them
Set your phone background to something that reminds you of them
Wear their colours or symbols
Make or listen to a playlist dedicated to your Deity/Deities
Do a digital offering on tumblr or another site
Just talk to them about your day
Write some poetry for them. Anything can be poetry, it doesn't have to be good
Scroll through their tags on social media
If you have coloured shoelaces wear their corresponding colours on your shoes!! (I can't believe i didn't think about this earlier)
Do your make up to honour them
Talk about them in a (dedicated witchy/pagan) discord server
Do something nice for someone. I know it's cheesy but it's cliche for a reason. For me it definitely makes me feel closer to my Gods
Draw/make art of them or one of their symbols
Youtube ambiance videos are great! If your Deity has an association with fire, water, birds, communal spaces or music there are heaps of videos on Youtube that you can play. Think coffee shop ambiance (communal space), waterfall/rain/water ambiance, nature/bird chirping ambiance, fire place ambiance, studying at the library ambiance, etc. endless possibilities
Draw their sigils/symbols on your face with skin care
I hope this helps!! Feel free to add any other tips. I tried to keep these relatively accessible for everyone.
