One of the major failures of Gnostic mythology is its lack of punchy anthropogenesis. They cant decide where man came from! Judaism and Christianity had "God created Adam and Eve so he might have something to love, and be loved by in return." Which is good and snappy. Gets the major point across.
Gnosticism doesn't have that! The primordial man is always some bizarrely Formal concept. The primordial Adam is an Aeon, or the child of two Aeons, or some philosophically complex emanation of divine Nous who exists pre-materially in an incorrupt state.
And how exactly did man end up in the Demiurge's prison reality? It's like the Demiurge made our bodies but the Pleroma made our souls and the souls can be saved but not the bodies. Which okay if the Pleroma is so powerful why don't they just kill Ialdabaoth and save us all? It's not snappy.
reminder for anyone who's been frustrated that Screamer-Killer 6e's official character sheet has been in legal limbo since 2007¹, we at the HORIZON MACHINE acquired the rights last year at a bankruptcy auction for systems bitch magazine and have made it available in pdf form here
¹yes, i know most of us Screamheads have just been using the lunar play reminder foglio, but that adds so much extra bookkeeping and it's not backwards compatible

i hate that every time i look for color studies and tips to improve my art and make it more dynamic and interesting all that comes up are rudimentary explanations of the color wheel that explain it to me like im in 1st grade and just now discovering my primary colors
“red and green are opposites 🥰” cool now how do i paint a tree with pinks and blues without it looking like a child’s finger painting or incongruous blobs of rainbow vomit
ok i can’t explain it very well but im looking for tips and techniques for rendering art like
with specifically the highlights and colors being hues that compliment each other, don’t distract from the scene, and make it more interesting/visually appealing
is it too much to ask
gonna drop some sources I have saved on Pinterest! I don't know if these all link back to the original sources so apologies for that
cohesive but still contrasting
This kind of talks about color and composition
This is a bit about landscape specifically
Values & composition
Contrast in composition
Balance in colors & values
This one's more for palette building but I think it's useful and can be applied to the other ones
Cohesion within compositions/lighting
"Chromatic fringe" - I also see people using this with shading, they bring in a transition color that is a different hue than the base color or shadow, it makes it so that less vibrancy is lost and it doesn't get muddy!
This one specifically has a lot of process behind the style of painting you're looking for!
Also one of my favorite artists who makes bright and colorful art like this is Not Sorry Art on TikTok & YouTube, her website is here and it's<3 my fav. She has some videos where you can see her process
With the oranges painting you put as an example, I noticed they painted the lighter values more toward yellow - they also exaggerated the hues of the undertones of the photo, so I'm guessing they either did it in their head or bumped the saturation up to get a closer look! I really love these paintings you shared and I definitely share your desire to paint/draw like that :)

people seem to think you cant be a spongebob and also understand a squidward but thats not true. if anything a true spongebob is more able to understand a squidward, even if they cant specifically relateWhat the fuck am i talking about. sorry what am i talking about right now. sorry i just realized im saying some fucking bullshit right now to all of you
you gotta have freaks and gross weirdos in your life it’s imperative to understanding the truth of humanity
When you mention piracy to the wrong person and now you have to listen to them talk for 2 hours that we need to support small businesses such as EA and Amazon
When the sky still felt close enough to touch,
and gods were simply neighbors we carved into stone so we wouldn’t forget them.

It has come to my attention that it’s not a common “belief” in most countries that the weather on your birthday is indicative of how good or bad you’ve been all year.
When I say belief I don’t actually mean that people in Denmark truly believe it. It’s more like a funny thing you can say like “The sun is shining so I’ve been good” or “Its not my fault its raining. Must be all the other people who have their birthday today”
As someone who was born in December I’ve apparently never been good a day in my life according to the weather while people who were born in late summer are apparently angels walking the earth.
Heh, the weather on the day you were born says nothing about you in this context because it’s supposed to be indicative of your behavior since your last birthday. You haven’t had a chance to be good or bad yet on the day you’re born.
Unfortunately your personal weather preferences don’t count. It goes like this:
Downpour/snowstorm/storm: very bad
Rain/snow: bad
Cloudy: neutral
Sun with clouds: mostly good
Clear skies: good
Heatwave with cruel sunshine: people will beg you to commit a crime next year to save us all
You can however request that a person behave a certain way to get your desired weather on their birthday. My grandmother used to say she had been deliberately bad so her garden would get rain.
The responses below are exactly the spirit of this “belief”, silly and fun banter for all.
